"What did you say, little girl?" demanded the male bearded man. As if he heard the worst joke in his entire lifetime, his expression would serve as proof that he did not intent to humor the 180 cm crimson hair girl wearing a backpack in front of him.
"Are you not entertained? I said, i wanted to the R.U.B.Y rank. I don't intend to beat around the bush. I'm here to 'challenge' the rank." I replied calmly to the overbearing man, i don't intend on threatening him as he was just doing his job, being a professional should be a respected attitude.
"So, you know of it. Do you think you can just waltz in, unknowingly without even having a single record in our mercernary guild?" answered the female receptionist as she was a bit more respectful in her tone. As it was logical to ask as she had never seen Auyu before, and judging from her lolita dress, she presume Auyu was unfamilar with the world around her. Which is partially correct.
"Yes." replied Auyu as she was certain this what she want to do. As she herself cares about her own feeling the most, no matter what kind of tedious obstacle in her way, if she wants to be a Ruby rank mercernary, she will find a way to do it.
As for the term challenger it's comes from the report i read, or specifically a 'rank challenger' as it officially named, as it a formal and not often discussed way to get to higher rank in short amount of time. It existed due to many cases of this happening before in the mercenary communities.
And as you imagined, it wouldn't be an easy obstacle to overcome when doing it this way, however there are reasons as to why i'm doing this.
First, getting some popularity. While it might sound foolish with my current situation, i think it's has it benefits as having fame can means more connections i can access and important figures that i can judge with my own eyes. Of course, since rank challenger isn't anything new. Not everyone going to look up to me. But it will be just right for me, since i can have more freedom in the city, and having a reputation can also means a background. Which i desperately required on this journey of mine.
Second, it will prevent anyone from going against me actively, if i have the support of an organisation, they will have to go through a hurdle just to deal with me. While i have trust in my appearance being a deterrent, you can never be too safe about your own safety. Besides, i'm going to expose myself as a one of the Mune, which will help me a lot.
Third...It will depends on the reaction of this inn. If the report is correct, i think it's going to be worth it.
"I see, if you're so insistent. Then there no harm in you trying, little miss. Here sign your name on this template to get your name as mercernary across and don't use your real name. We're not responsible for any breached privacy you might have." remarked the bearded receptionist clearly, as he sounded like he just read it out of the term of service itself. With a more respectful tone.
"Alright, should i just cut my thumb and add in a blood writing?" said Auyu as the report didn't clearly state what was required to write an adventurer resumé, so she just made an assumption on her own while asking just make sure for one don't want to feel the stinging pain.
"Oh goodness, no. We use ink here. That kind of ceremony is already forbid as there was some complaints from anemic community of people wanting to give some mercernary work a try." explained the Chrysis female receptionist. With a pity in her eyes as Auyu kept confirming her assumption, as she couldn't stop her. Since she didn't really want to dwindle Auyu's confidence, as she wasn't stranger to having excitement on adventuring out in the world.
"I'll do as you say then." acknowledge Auyu as she wasn't an expert herself. She would leave it up for the experts, that's one of the benefit of being lazy, she thought.
Auyu analyzed the comprehensive account paper as it has some terms and insurance as a mercenary. Probably because there has been some cases where imbeciles don't have common sense and went against the rules.
As she finished reading, she took the quill and ink to write her name signature on the 'sign here' section.
'Apocalypse'
The receptionists glossed over the template, finding no issue with it. Stamped the document with the stamping press with the Guild's emblem. With sizzling sensation, the process was completed in on a short notice. As being a mercernary is a hard but less chores over all as the guild would take care all the miscellaneous paperwork.
"Well then, before we finish off this formal procedure. We would like to know about your 'class', Mercenary Apocalypse."
"Magical Girl." responded Auyu as she wasn't going to hide her class, rather it would serve to be a cover for her other cards. And it will give her some room to use her power openly, foresee Auyu as the stronger she become it would only be more difficult as the time go on.
"You're a mune? Well, that explains the arrogance...Sigh, alright since you've signed with sincerity, i'd ask the guild master to make your affiliation badge. Return tommorow to reclaim your badge and the 'challenger' quest " finished the female receptionist with the recruitment process, with precision and not leaving anything out.
As the receptionist finish reviewing the recruitment of Auyu, a gossip has been spawned amongst those sitting at the table. As it was quite uncommon for a Mune to be applying a dirty mercernary work. But it was still became a sensation amongst the mercernary groups as the tales of Magical girls were common and renowned.
But, since Auyu wasn't used to chit-chatting with many at once, she took the words of receptionist to heart and decided to take a break in the town. As she did "found" an acquantance here.
However, as walking out of the door. There was a commotion in front of her, with many humans, beastkins and zyloids waiting to ambush her outside.
"Hey! You there, small crimson mane girl!" said one of the guy that looked to be the representive of this many shades of gray group
"Yeah, what about it?" I replied with furrowed eyebrows as it wasn't like i did not expect this to not happen, but it's just the tedious way they called me on the first sentence.
"Your name is...?"
"No?"
"What?"
"What."
