Chapter 3 - Waking Up Brand New

After traveling for quite a bit they stop the cart to build a fire and fix some food. Torin and Lara fix the food while Ezra checks on the patient and Tarrow sets out the tents and sleeping cots. Ezra checks the woman's pulse and her forehead temperture which is thankfully normal. Ezra looks down as his spell book beside his leg looking for another awakening spell when he feels a slight movement beside him.

He looks down at the young woman to find her large amethyst eyes open staring at him curiously. He straightens his posture dropping his the book from his hands, no longer needing the spell. "How are you feeling", he asks her excitedly.

"I'm okay, I think, a little sore though, and I don't know where I am", the woman says glancing around at her surroundings before resting her eyes on Ezra again.

"What's your name", Ezra asks as he reaches the woman a glass of water. The woman looks up trying to come up with her name but she is drawing a blank. Honestly everything's kind of a blank, she can't recall anything. Not one single memory.

"I...I....I. don't know", she says worriedly. Ezra puts a hand on her trembling shoulder in comfort.

"When we found you, you were falling from the air we tried to slow your fall but you still hit kind of hard. You hit your head on a rock and it's caused amnesia. Whether its temporary or permanent I'm not for sure but in my opinion if it lasts longer than a month its probably permanent", Ezra says noticing how scared the young woman looks. "It's going to be okay, I promise. If your memory doesn't return my friends and I will help you get adjusted to everything we won't just send you out to fend for yourself. We're going to need something to call you though? Any preferences?"

The woman just shakes her head no not knowing what to call herself. "How about we call you Lily", he asks bringing his hand to her necklace raising it for her to see. The tilts her head giving it thought and nods. Lily seemed natural enough to be called. Ezra takes to digging in his satchel for something and Lily uses that moment to observe him freely.

He had jet black shaggy hair hanging from his head and the kindest hazel eyes. His smile was comforting and even though he seemed kind of tall and lanky Lily was absolutely infatuated with him and his kind demeanor. He looks back up and see Lily's eyes dart quickly to the outside of the cart. "I'm Ezra, a practicing warlock by the way", he introduces himself realizing he hadn't told her who he was. "I'm part of a four man team the queen of Hestia has hired to patrol the land taking care of dragons, giants, and werewolves from attacking the villages. My sister Lara is a grand sorceress and then there is also Torin a wood elf and our archer Tarrow", he states listing his other group members.

"Soups ready", calls a feminine voice belonging to Lara as she walks over to her brother noting the young woman is awake. "Guess I should have brought two bowls", she says by passing her brother and giving the bowl to the injured woman she mumbles a soft thank you. "Go get your food I'll sit with her while you do", Lara commanded softly.

"Okay", he responds taking off leaving the two women alone in awkward silence. Lara observes the silent woman who is eating the soup gratefully

"Your coloring looks much better. How are you feeling", Lara asks kindly something the guys hadn't heard often.

Lily swallows the mouthful of soup before replying. I feel a little sore but otherwise okay, though I don't seem to have any previous memories", she answers.

"Hmmmm", Lara mumbles softly before placing her hands on both sides of Lily's head and whispers a encantation that makes her hands glow purple. She closes her eyes as she tries to draw memories from the black haired girl but none spring forth. Its almost as if they have been wiped clean. Lara opens her eyes with a small frown wondering why her memories were gone. Was it because of the fall or had someone purposely wiped the young woman's mind?

"Lily would you like some more", Ezra asked her holding out his own bowl of soup but she politely declined having filled up with the first bowl.

"Lily?" questions Lara wondering why her brother was calling her this. He points to the necklace hanging from her neck. "Oh". "I hope your okay with traveling with us for a little bit, we have work to do and we won't reach the next village for a couple more weeks", she informs the dark haired girl.

The girl smiles and a brief giggle escapes her lips. "Sound fine to me, I don't have anywhere to be that I can recall". Ezra and Lara both laugh at her response, at least she seems to be in good spirits.

Torin and Tarrow join the group and introduce themselves Torin throwing in a flirtatious wink which causes Lily to blush in embarrassment while her eyes search for Ezra. He was frowning but noticing her attention he smiles quickly before going to make some tea. His sister Lara follows and gives him a look as he makes two cups of tea.

"Don't go getting attached Ezra. For all we know she could be married or otherwise betrothed", his sister warns him kindly.

"I'm not Lara, but I highly doubt she is married or engaged she has no ring indicating so. She's just a nice, attractive woman and I'm enjoying a bit of new company. What if her memory doesn't return, could she just join up with our group if she wanted", Ezra asks.

Lara groans glaring at her brother. "Ez that sounds like attachment to me. Besides everyone in the group has to pull there weight. I doubt that girl would be able to contribute very much. You said it yourself she's probably from a noble family. I doubt someone like that would be able to keep up with us".

"At least give her a chance if she wants to", he pleads with his older sister. Lara sighs annoyed but knows that she is going to do as her little brother asks.

"Okay, but it will be your rations and your money that will be paying to feed and cloth her. She's your responsibility not mine", she says walking away leaving Ezra with a pleased smile on his face.
