The next morning everyone does their best to not bring up the situation that happened last night. Lily is quiet as she goes about their morning routine deep in thought about what she had witnessed. She couldn't have done that, she wouldn't have, there's no way. It has to be a hallucination brought on by the evil spirit she repeats to herself. She has noticed Ezra glance at her a few times though this time she felt like it was different. More like he was observing her to see if she was acting funny or fixing to turn evil in the blink of an eye. It left her feeling hurt though she didn't say anything to the others.
" I've been told that a bunch of trolls have been harassing travelers along this path recently so everyone hide your weapons. We are going to make ourselves the perfect targets to lure them out and teach them a lesson", Laras says as everyone gets ready to travel. Everyone in the group gives a nod in response before climbing on a horse or getting in the cart. Lily gets on the driver's bench and waits for Lara to take her spot beside her. She had said she wanted to have Lily get comfortable steering the cart.
Instead of Lara however Ezra takes the spot beside her. Lily gives him a second long glance before turning her eyes to the road. "Alright everything is loaded we're all good to get going", Lara says from the back. The amulet catches to sun reflecting the morning light beams on the mountain side next to the path. Though she felt a little irritated Lily was grateful they had used their time, energy, and materials to make a amulet to keep her safebfrom the evil trying to possess her.
Ezra could sense Lily's distress and he didn't know how to go about discussing it. He didn't know if it was fear that made her so quiet or embarrassment which she had no reason to be. He chances a look at her as they travel and sees her eyes focused on the road. Her black bangs frame her angelic face and a frown is laid on her pouty lips. Ezra decides to break the silence tired of the distance that she seems to be trying to put between them.
"What has you so troubled this morning that you haven't spoken a word", he asks bluntly causing her to look to him startled. She hadn't expected him to break the silence.
"I feel like you view me differently now. It's like you are waiting for me to snap and its a little annoying. Its not that I chose this, I'd never want to hurt anyone. I'm scared of the dark spirit and I'm scared of what I've might have been before because of it", she confesses. As much as she had tried to forget the vision she saw it was like it had been branded to her brain. Everytime she would begin to calm down the sight of the severed head rolling on the ground and her sadistic laughing face would come back to her.
"Lily what you may have done while under the influence of being possessed is not your fault. You weren't in control of your body. When a persons possessed your consciousness is shoved to the back of your very being, your disconnected from everything you bodys going through. You were nothing but a hostage to a dark being. I promise its not your fault and you could not have stopped anything no matter how badly you would want to", Ezra informs her trying to comfort her. He could see the anguish in her eyes she must have witnessed something terrible when the spirit had attacked.
"I dont see you any different than I did before I promise you. I just worry about you a little more because I don't want anything to happen to you", he says while lifting a hand to brush her bangs behind her ear. A small smile forms on Lily's face at his gesture before turning her attention back to the path following Torin and Tarrow.
After about an hour into traveling however they come to a large tree across the path. They all dismount and walk to the tree were Lara gives the group a knowing look. "Alright guys looks like we are going to have to move this tree out of the road before we can get through", Lara says a bit to loudly before taking Lily's arm. "Were going to wait for them to finish in the cart", she whispers to the girl with a smirk. Lily nods and they climb in the cart waiting for the trolls to attack. Soon enough a horrible stench fills the air and the thudding of clubs against the earth rings out.
Lara and Lily look out to see the trolls trying their best to hit the guys but each time the club comes close they roll out of the way expertly. Lara grabs her staff and with a flourishing movement the trolls clubs are ripped from their grasp . Two of the trolls look at their weapons confused while the other grabs Torin who hadn't expected the third to be any brighter than the rest. The troll begins to squeeze on him causing him to howl out in pain. Lara distracted by Torin's agonizing cries breaks focus and the clubs are then dropped to the ground.
Lily sees the trolls fixing to retrieve their weapons and Lara being to flustered to do anything so she raises her hand towards the tree which levitates before she motions quickly towards the trolls where the tree then flys catching them unaware knocking Torin from their grasp and trapping them against the mountain side. The trolls begin resisting, trying to push the tree away from trapping them. Lily focuses all her energy on keeping the trolls from her friends and feels her arms begin to burn from strain.
She cries out in pain but her resolve doesn't shake as she waits for Ezra or Lara to finish this because she knows her magic levels are dwindling. Ezra is the first to react since Lara has ran to Torin to check his injuries. "Constringo", he yells and heavy ropes slide from the cart up the troll's bodies like a snake binding them tightly. The trolls now fully restrained allows Lily to release the magic hold she had on the tree and completely exhausted she collapses. That was the longest period of time she had used her magic since discovering it.
