Ash slept for very little last night, which means we hardly got any sleep. It was the loudest, most terrifying night of my life. I lay looking up at the morning sky, thankful there is no more full moon. Getting from my sleeping area, I look at Ash. He was awake too. He was in his vampire form.
I moved toward him cautiously. " Are you okay?"
"Yeah, what happened last night?" He grabs his head.
"You don't remember any of it?"
"No, I have a splitting headache and vampires usually don't feel pain," he tells me.
"You are absolutely terrifying as a wolf."
He laughs. "Sounds like a frightening night."
"I bet you want out of these Chains," Cricket says approaching us.
I leave as Cricket unchained Ash. I walk inside the trailer to see if Ajay was up already. He is normally the first one up. Quickly I cover my eyes, I can't believe what I am seeing. Aanya and Ajay doing their business on the main couch. Her moaning was so awkward.
"I definitely should have knocked." Ajay laughs a little, but continues what he was doing, or should I say who. I speedily left the trailer.
I feel cheerful when I see Chetan was up laughing with the boys. Ash was separated from the tree. He seems to get along with Dev. They are similar in a lot of ways, having both a great sense of humor.
"I'm glad you didn't rip anyone apart last night," Dev laughs.
"Yeah, that would have been bad," says Ash.
"Definitely falls in the category of bad," Dev says.
I approach the boys. " Good morning baby," Chetan says, kissing me on the forehead.
I smile, grabbing his hand to hold it.
Aanya and Ajay exit the trailer door this time with their clothes on. I don't think I feel jealous it's just very awkward seeing somebody you were with sexually with somebody else.
A memory pops into my mind of Ajay and myself. I quickly think of something else.
Ajay walks and stands next to me. It was hard for me to meet his gaze.
"I am sorry for that Zare," he tells me.
"Oh, it's my fault I should have knocked."
Dev laughs. "Oh no! She saw you guys doing the nasty."
I had to laugh at his wording.
"It's nothing she hasn't seen before," Ajay remarks.
"More like experienced," Dev says.
"Guys not appropriate."
"More like she's never going to experience again," Chetan flashes Ajay a smirk.
"Whatever, I have to run to the market where we're getting out of food," Ajay explains. There's one market outside of Sandy Shores we go to once in a while. Ajay hates leaving Sandy Shores.
"Okay", we all said.
"I am taking cricket and Smoke with me for help. Chetan, I'm leaving you in charge," Ajay announces.
"All right," Chetan says.
"Wait for a second, why am I not in charge?" Dev asks.
"Because I want everyone alive when I get back," Ajay laughs.
We all chuckle.
I hear rustling in the trees, and I pick up on Alec's scent. I move towards the words. The boys are cheating.
"Zare," Chetan calls.
I really thought he wouldn't notice. What do I tell him? I guess the truth. Whatever Alec wants, I'm going to need help.
"Where are you going?" Chetan asks.
"Nowhere."
"That didn't look like nowhere Dev says.
"I just picked up on Alec's scent."
The boys are at my side in moments. I don't smell him anymore. He must be spying on us, but why? That's what I want to figure out. If I only get a chance to sneak away and talk to him.
"So you're going to rush off after him?" Chetan asks.
"I was just going to see if I could see him." I let out a big breath.
"Zare, we have already been over this," Chetan huffs.
"I know."
"I'm not trying to be controlling, I just want to protect you," Chetan tells me.
"He really just doesn't want any more competition," Dev interrupts.
Chetan punches him in the arm.
"I can't help it, my girl is so beautiful," Chetan says. Walking towards me and grabbing my face in his hands, he brings his lips to mine and kisses me.
Moments later, Chetan and I sit snuggling up by the fire. Ajay, Cricket, and Smoke left for the store. He sits behind me with his arms wrapped around me. I lay my head back on his chest.
He rubs my face with his hand. "Have I told you how much I love you?" He asks me, kissing my forehead.
"You can remind me." I smile.
"I can't even hold all the love I feel for you in my little heart," he tells me.
I look up at him and he kisses me. "I love you so much."
I watch Kiara, Riya, Aanya, Abooksigun, and Forest all painting each other's nails. They laugh so loudly. They all look like a perfect little clique.
"You want to go join them?" Chetan asks me.
I shake my head.
"Okay," Chetan kisses me on the head.
Ash, Dev, come to join us by the fire.
"You don't want to go be a girl with the other girls, Zare?" Dev asks.
Chetan laughs.
I roll my eyes.
"It must be a Zombie thing," Dev says, smirking at me.
"Your girlfriend's part zombie." I laugh.
"Oh yeah," Dev laughs.
"It's been a little too quiet these past nights," Chetan says.
"Yeah, and that's never a good thing," Dev remarks.
Dev takes out a can of chewing tobacco and puts some into his cheek.
"When did you start chewing?"
"An old habit started again," he tells me.
"Oh, I'm surprised Ajay picked that up for you."
"He didn't, I bought it last time I went with," he laughs, spitting on the ground.
"I'll go on the zombie run," Chetan says, patting my leg to get up.
I stand up.
"Do you smell Alec's scent?" Chetan asks.
I nod. "Yeah, he's out there."
"Okay, then you're staying here," he kisses me on the forehead.
"Oh, you're scared of a little bitty vampire?"
"No, I don't feel like ripping one apart," he responds.
I roll my eyes.
"Dev, keep eyes on everyone here," Chetan says.
"Especially Zare?" Dev smirks.
"Yeah, the difficult one," Chetan laughs, before he changes into his wolf and takes off.
Dev takes out the can of chewing tobacco and puts some into his mouth.
"Let me try some."
"What are you nuts Chetan will kill me? I'm sure keeping an eye on you doesn't include giving you drugs," Dev says.
"Whatever." I held out my hand.
"Fine," Dev puts a small amount into my hand.
I pop it into my mouth. It was like chewing on a car tire. But it wasn't so bad. I actually kind of liked it, because it was like chewing gum.
I notice the other girls giving me dirty looks. I'm over here chewing tobacco with the boys, and they're playing pretty princess painting their fingernails.
"I actually kind of like it."
"Badass," laughs Dev.
I laugh too.
"I always thought you were my type of chill girl," he tells me.
"Yeah," I smile.
"Like when you can just hang out as you do with the boys," he says.
"Is that a good thing?"
"Definitely," he responds.
I see Chetan walking up. He looks sorta disturbed. He's back a little sooner than I expected. But we are werewolves. We run fast.
"You okay?"
"Another child," he lets out a breath.
"And you?"
"Yeah, I took care of it and it was heartbreaking," he tells me.
"I am sorry."
"We never had children till now. What is going on?' Dev asks.
"You know that is very strange", Chetan remarks.
Chetan sits next to me. I hold his hand. He feels colder than normal.
He brings his lips to mine to kiss me. Oh no, the tobacco.
I kiss him anyway. Hoping that he doesn't notice. Oh god.
"What's that awful taste in your mouth?" Chetan asks.
Dev laughs.
"You didn't?" He asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Give your girlfriend tobacco?" Dev asks.
"Seriously" Chetan says.
I just laugh.
