The Ship returned to Mariejois and Galan escorted Saint Corithess back to the Holy Land, before bowing outside the home as he maintained his smile. The CP leader stayed with him until Galan straightened out, asking "Anything?"
Galan turned to him and waved as he walked away, the CP leader followed him as Galan offered him a cigarette, saying "I searched the entire Archipelago but there was nothing. No slaves at all. The only thing was a sloppy escape route…"
The CP leader frowned and took the cigarette, lighting it as he took a drag, asking "No clues? Any suspects? This kind of operation requires skill…" Galan exhaled a mouthful of smoke, frowning worriedly "I don't know exactly, but I have a suspicion…" he pulled on his suit and showed the agent his scars, adding "I think it may have been the Marine traitor, Monkey D. Dragon."
The CP leader frowned deeply as Galan explained, "His goals are to Overthrow the World Government. What I heard was he was starting a group called the 'Revolutionary Army'. I assume he's amassing his forces by recruiting slaves." The CP leader was grim, replying "Recruiting like-minded people… This isn't good news."
Galan sighed and nodded, exhaling smoke through his nose, "I think further precautions are necessary. Maybe a few more agents stationed around Sabaody or something like that." The CP leader hummed and nodded, "I'll report this to the higher ups, thanks for your work, Admiral."
Galan smiled slightly, "No problem. Anything to help get these scum out of the world." the CP leader snorted in amusement, nodding as he patted Galan's shoulder, walking away.
Galan smiled and walked back to the docks, taking the elevator. The doors closed and he returned to a flat expression, throwing his cigarette out the window as he dusted off his shoulder, muttering "Disgusting dog…"
He smiled again and walked to his ship, sailing away after exchanging farewells with the guards surrounding the docks.
The ship sailed away as Galan sat on the ship, looking at the shrinking city above him. He snorted and turned to a book, writing down as he took out his Sun pendant, rubbing it with his thumb, muttering "Hopefully the suspicion on me lessened… Maybe a few more escort missions will do…"
He tilted his head and wrote down his thoughts in the little black book.
Galan hummed to himself, flipping the Sun pendant in between his fingers. This was a hurdle to cross, Galan needed to cross it flawlessly. He also figured he should hide more of his intelligence from now on, proposing general solutions to problems without substance, echoing decisions by the 5 Elders and anyone from the World Government.
The idea was to be the dog the 5 Elders needed, but was he really?
Galan curled his lips in something that could be considered a smile, no. He was no dog, he was a wolf knocking on the door asking to be let in. When he was let in, there was nothing left to do, he would be like a disease, slowly crumbling the inner workings of the World Government.
He would silently sabotage each and every action they made. Like a specter born only for their destruction. The ghosts of all the people wronged. Galan snorted in amusement as he rested his cheek on his fist, dangling the Sun pendant, listening to the sweet chimes of the chain clinging together.
The ship slowly rocked back and forth as it rode the waves, returning to Marineford.
A festering evil to the World Government it would never expect to come. A reckoning perhaps sent to them by God.
A low chuckle escaped the cabin on the ship, alerting no one but the fish in the sea who were helpless to do anything with the information…
A few weeks later
Galan was sitting at Marineford when Tsuru walked into his office with a box. Galan looked up from his desk and Tsuru smiled "Hey." Galan nodded and replied gently, "Hey." Tsuru put the box down on the desk and said softly "Saw you brought me flowers." Galan paused and looked at Tsuru before turning back to the desk as he muttered "I saw you brought your daughter."
Tsuru froze and said "Yeah? Well, she's really smart and kind…" Galan looked up at her and smiled gently, listening quietly as Tsuru went on softly, "An amazing little girl just like her father." while staring at Galan, who forced a smile "I'm sure he is, Tsuru. I'm happy for you, truly."
He held his fist and rested his chin on top of his hands, smiling perhaps the only sincere smile he ever could, for the only person he ever could, "I hope he treats you well, he's lucky to have you." Tsuru laughed in disbelief, staring at Galan with watery eyes before wiping them as she smiled "Yeah… He does. I have to-"
She turned around and walked out of the room, leaving quickly.
Galan sighed and watched her go, turning to the box and opening it to reveal an array of snails with a ton of wires along with a note. He read the note and fixed the array, going back to work as Tsuru ran down the hall.
She couldn't believe he didn't know. Or maybe he didn't care?
She left the building and returned to her house, seeing Doll eating pancakes happily. Tsuru smiled gently looking at her daughter, it didn't matter if he knew or not. She knew that Galan was deeply troubled, she knew from day one, she didn't know why she thought something would come of it…
Maybe things would be different if Galan's history was normal. Maybe something could've been anything resembling a happy life… But Tsuru knew it was never going to happen. He might never even know his own daughter existed, Tsuru didn't know what the future held for them, but she knew that one day Doll would look for answers.
She dreads that moment every single day.
The following year, Galan took notice of a young man with the Ice Logia fruit. He enlisted this year.
Dragon attacked several tribute ships and spread his Revolutionary ideology around the world, forcing Kong to put a Bounty on his head.
Galan took a few more escort missions and acted just as he did before, communicating with Dragon. He clashed with Dragon on Sabaody the next time he went on a mission, just short of catching him as he ran away after they destroyed an entire Grove.
The time continued passing as Galan fortified his position as a Marine Admiral extremely loyal to the World Government, blindly following orders without question.
Years passed just like this.
1497- The Edd Sea War occurred
Galan was on Marineford at this time and missed it.
1499- the World Government labeled Roger as Gold Roger and named him 'King of the Pirates'
Finally, late in the year 1500…
