Chapter 1 - Ohara - The end that leads to the beginning

---Six years before the age of pirates---

Clear sunny skies. Not a single cloud was seen for miles.

Even the wind seemed almost tranquil. Minus the occasional breeze that worked in perfect tandem with that of the majestic ball of fire glaring down at the island known as Ohara. Today seemed just as good as any for the inhabitants of Ohara, the beautiful people known for their expertise in archaeology.

It was however, a painful afternoon for two particular people, both who just happen to have white hair. One of them was named Nico Olivia. She was a well-known archaeologist in Ohara for both her trademark white hair and stunning appearance. yet currently her curly white hair was sheened in a layer of sweat and her blue eyes were conveying pain.

She was in labor.

Three hours had gone by since her first contractions and she was honestly getting extremely tired of hearing the word "push" repeatedly. Minus the whole pregnancy thing though, she was doing well, and it seemed like no complications would occur.

"I can see the head, a few more pushes" Screamed the older of the two nurses and as she had predicted, almost ten minutes later, a pink, wrinkly.... thing was placed in the loving arms of Olivia.

"It's a beautiful baby girl, what shall you name her?" The younger of the nurses questioned. Tenderness could clearly be seen reflected in her eyes as she stared at the meatball napping in her mother's arms.

Olivia took her time staring at her child whilst processing her answer to the question. The child had her beautiful blue eyes, yet it seems that she had taken the hair of her father, if the few black strands sticking out of her head were anything to go by.

"Robin... Nico Robin" She whispered and both nurses' smiles seemed to widen. It was a beautiful name for a baby who would grow to be a beautiful woman. If only they knew of the hardship this one child would face. Maybe their smiles would be filled with worry.

------------------------------------------

At the same time, a few buildings away from the resting place of Nico Olivia, another white-haired woman was in the same position she was moments prior. Her beautiful white hair was scattered across the bed and her brown eyes seemed a little dull, yet occasionally, a flash of pain would light them up.

Unfortunately, her labor was not going as well as Olivia's. Blood could be seen covering the bottom of the bed and her skin was growing paler by the seconds. The single nurse attending to her was trying everything she could to prevent the woman from drifting into eternal slumber, but the grim reaper seemed to have a vice grip on her soul.

"Hold on ma'am.. please. just a little longer. A few more pushes and you can rest... just please don't give up"

She was practically begging, her voice shaking with every syllable, but unfortunately, the weaker the woman grew, the weaker her pushes became.

It wasn't until nearly 20 minutes later that the cries of a child overshadowed the fast yet shallow breathing of the exhausted woman. The nurse quickly performed her basic nursely procedures before placing the child in the woman's arms before trying to stabilize her condition.

Small strands of platinum silver dotted her tiny little head, but it was the ruby-like gems glancing around that seemed to capture everyone's attention.

The woman glanced down at the child responsible for her condition and released a gentle yet mesmerizing smile. A smile filled with more emotions than any words could convey. The smile of a mother filled with unconditional love and pride for her child.

"Chizuki"

Moments later, the nurse heard the cries of the child once more following the whisper of the woman and looked up to a scene that brought tears to her eyes.

A mother, with eyes duller than the night sky, yet a smile that could light up any room, staring into the eyes of her pride and joy. The same pride and joy who weeps at the loss of her only family. The one her brought her into this world.

Her mother.

The cries of the child travelled far and wide, filling not only the building with sorrow but also infecting others with the same sentiment. The animals all throughout Ohara began to mourn whilst its citizens looked around with both worry and confusion. It was a day filled with all sorts of emotions ranging from happiness and pride to sadness and sorrow.

Two events with the same starting point, that ended at two completely different finish lines.

Thus continues the cycle of life.

---------Six years later - The great age of pirates-------------

"Chizuki... Chizuki look. Look."

Inside an old wooden building, a young girl who appeared to be around five years old was running towards a room holding a newspaper. She was quite tall for her age, just over 4 feet tall with short curly brown hair. What stood out most about her, however, was her green eyes that shone with passion. She also wore a beautiful silver necklace that was shaped like a crescent moon.

Upon entering the room, she so ungraciously barged into, she laid eyes upon another young girl just like herself. Said girl was currently staring out of the window with utter boredom.

The sun was only a few minutes from setting so the view she was observing could be said to be breathtaking, but after seeing it once too many times, even the brightest of treasures become a little dull.

Upon hearing her door impacting the wall with a loud thud, she turned her ruby-like eyes on the out-of-breath girl staring at her excitedly whilst holding a newspaper.

"What is it, Lora? What's got you so excited?" she asked, resting her head in her hand whilst leaning against the window of her tiny, yet surprisingly cozy-looking room.

Lora was the only friend Chizuki had bothered to make, and it was only because of Lora's relentless pestering they became friends in the first place.

It is not like she wants to be a loner or anything along those lines, it's just that everyone around her seems so... simple. As ironic as it seems, all the other orphans in her eyes are either childish or immature.

Things that seem so magical to others almost appear bland to her. Things that seem complicated to the others are... child's play to her. Hence the reasoning behind her social distancing. The same social distancing that was broken by an annoyingly hyperactive child with a hero complex.

The same child that made it her mission to befriend the "outsider" in dire need of a loving friend lest she decides to become a villain...

"Gol D Roger... he's been... executed" she revealed through pants whilst showing the front of the newspaper where the renowned pirate king was giving his menacingly famous smirk whilst laughing as two marines held swords near his throat.

He seemed just as free spirited and inspiring as any other day, but only those that knew him could see the faint lingering regret hidden behind his smile.

Chizuki was quite taken aback by the reveal of Rogers death. The invincible pirate king who conquered the grand line with that everlasting smile on his face as he fought off even the strongest of marines, was now dead.

She was neither happy nor sad at this revelation. She didn't know the guy, nor did she have a reason to mourn/celebrate his death. Well, maybe she would have liked to meet him one day. If there was any sort of emotion she could associate with the pirate king, it would be respect.

In a world filled with superpowers gained through eating fruits, being able to conquer the seas with nothing but a sword and overwhelming brute strength was something anyone had to admire... except his victims of course.

"How was he even caught? As far as I know, there isn't anyone capable of capturing him given his strength, not to mention the fact that he wouldnt let himself be captured".

"I don't know." Lora confessed. "I'm just glad he's finally been defeated, now people can rest assured that he won't hurt anyone else" She breathed a sigh of release. Almost like a heavy weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

"You're acting like he was a monster who killed people for fun. Compared to 80% of the pirates out there he could be considered a decent human being. I guess he just did whatever he considered fun. If anything, I think he was quite respectable, he just wanted to live his best life and did so with a smile on his face"

That was Chizuki's guess. His entire being screamed of freedom. If he wants to do something, then he will.

"Thats exactly what made him so dangerous." Lora reiterated. "Not only his carefree attitude, but also the charisma that goes along with it. He naturally attracts people to him, and those people follow in his footsteps. If you add those factors to his complete lack of care and lack of boundaries, he's one of the most dangerous men in the world."

Chizuki paused upon hearing Lora's words. It took her a few seconds to recover before she looked at her with slightly raised eyebrows.

After a few seconds of staring, Lora became a little uncomfortable.

"W..What?"

Chizuki continued to stare for a few more seconds before she smiled teasingly.

"Nothing. I'm just surprised you even know what half of those words mean." She said before she began to giggle.

Lora's face slightly reddened at the teasing of her friend before she gained a slight pout. and huffed a few puffs.

Chizuki was not lying, however. She was a little surprised. It seems she had underestimated her friend's sense of justice... and her talent for it.

Both Chizuki and Lora continued chatting about everything and anything they deemed interesting until it was time for them to sleep. Both wondering what changes Roger's death would bring.

~~~~~
The next day, at around noon, both chizuki and Lora decided to visit the library. It was one of the only things they could do to pass time given their age. Well... one that didn't involve chasing each other with sticks or playing pirates vs marines.
Lora loved learning about anything she could about the marines and their "heroic" deeds, whereas Chizuki enjoyed passing time by learning things she hadn't before.
After around an hour or two of reading, when Chizuki was halfway through a book named "ocean navigation for the dumbest of dummies", she heard a thud across from her. She looked up to see a child the same age as her looking at the book in her hand with curiosity.
The child appeared to be the same age as her. Black hair draped around her shoulders and light blue eyes looked at her with eagerness. She was wearing a plain, light purple dress
"Hello" Chizuki said. Not really knowing what else to do.
"Hey" she bounced back. "Do you like reading?" She looked excited. It was like she had found herself a kindred spirit.
Chizuki nodded her head at the question. "I do it whenever I'm bored. It's a good way to pass the time"
Her words brought an even brighter smile to the young girl's face.
"Me too" she half shouted. "What's your favourite genre? What's your favourite book? Have you read this one?" A barrage of questions was fired at Chzuki within seconds. Both Chizuki and Lora were taken aback at the enthusiasm of the girl.
"Stop, stop, STOOOOP" Lora was the one to stop the questions by raising her hand and shoving it in the girls face all the while yelling stop...
Quite a few people were drawn to the shouting and even though it annoyed them given their location, they wrote it off as children messing around.
The girl herself, however, was quite startled by the sudden high face whilst Chizuki had to hold back a giggle.
(High face = high five with your face)
"Too many questions" Lora remarked. "We don't even know your name"
Upon these words the girl got a little embarrassed and coughed into a closed fist.
"Ahem* My name is Nico Robin, I'm six and love to read about history."
Both chizuki and Lora nodded and smiled at Robins introduction before giving one of their own.
"I'm Chizuki, also six, I only read when I'm bored... which is quite a lot."
"Umu Umu. I'm Lora Lexi; I will be six in a few weeks. My dream is to be a marine and defeat all the evil pirates and bring justice to the world muhahah".
"Wrong laugh"
"I mean ohohohohoho"
Lora finished her introduction with her hands on her hips and her chest puffed proudly, both Robin and Chizuki looked on with amusement.
"Lexi?" Robin questioned. "I don't think I've heard that name?"
"She made it up"
"I DID NOT. It's my name"
"That you made up?"
"NO... well.... maybe. But everyone else has a surname. I want one two."
"Hoh? and what does it mean exactly?" Robin asked with a giggle.
"It means "protector of humanity" in.... I forgot, but it's a really cool name and it fits my awesomeness."
All of them laughed at the noble confession our dear Lora had made before they all began to discuss the books they were reading. They spent the next few hours trading books and talking about their favorite ones.
Eventually it was time for Chizuki and Lora to return to their "Home" and say goodbye. They did, however, make plans to meet at the same place again the next day.
Thus, a brand-new friendship was formed between three individuals through the power of books.
~~~And then two years had gone by in the blink of an eye. ~~~

Our little trio had continued to be friends, wreaking havoc arund their secret evil base... the library. All the while they continued to grow older and learn new things. All of them had turned eight years old and became taller.

It was currently around 10AM, an hour or so after breakfast. Chizuki and Lora were on their way to meet Robin. The third member of their merry little crew had been disappearing for a few hours these past few days but Lora and Chizuki both just assumed she had family business to take care of.

Not that they had ever met her family. Though given how Robin often spoke about them, they didn't want to.

Chizuki however, wasn't feeling the best recently. It started around a week ago and has gotten worse as the days go by. It was a sort of nagging feeling that something was wrong. The only problem was, she had no idea what. Nothing had changed in her day to day life yet the feeling got worse the more the days passed by.

This gut feeling of hers had put her on edge but, since she didn't really know what it was, she placed it at the back of her mind.

Ohara today was the same as any other day. Its residents walked the streets with smiles donning their faces, the sun keeping them warm, books in their hands.

Chizuki and Lora strolled the streets in leisure, as they had done every other day, greeting those who greeted them, talking about what they had planned for the day.

That was until Chizuki saw a flash of white hair. A woman run past them both at blinding speed and knocked Lora into Chizuki, causing them both to fall.

The Woman running looked back to see she had knocked over two children and slowed down slightly before she shook her head and began running again.

"I'm really sorry." she shouted in what seemed like a panicky voice as she got further and further away.

Chizuki groaned as she felt the weight of Lora on top of her. She wasn't exactly strong considering she spent most of her time reading and having someone taller than you land on top of your stomach wasn't exactly pleasant.

"A..Ah sorry Chizu. Are you ok? Do you need help? Can you stand up?" Upon realizing what had happened and where she had landed, she couldn't help but worry about her friend.

"I'm fine Lora, such a worrywart. I wonder what was so important that the woman completely disregarded her surroundings?" Chizuki wondered.

"Maybe she needs the toilet?"

".... Probably"

...

"Hey wasn't that, Olivia?"

Both Lora and Chizuki looked over at the old woman who asked that question. She was a kind woman named Margaret who often game both of them fruit whenever they passed by.

"Yeah, now that you mention it, it was!"

"I wonder when she came back?"

"I wonder what's got her panicked?"

After hearing Margarets words, everyone else began to recognize her too.

"Maybe she just wants to see Robin?" It was Margaret who spoke once more, and these words caused both Lora and Chizuki's heads to spin in her direction. The both waddled over to her after standing on their feet causing her to smile and ask if they're ok.

After confirming that they were fine, Lora was the one who asked what they were both thinking.

"Miss Margaret, are you talking about our friend Robin? Why would miss Olivia want to see Robin?"

Upon hearing these words Margaret let out a small laugh. "Well, that's because Olivia is Robins mother. She left the island around six years ago to learn about something. Something must have happened for her to be racing around like a hooligan though. I wonder where the rest of her crew are too? *sigh* I can't help but worry now."

Upon hearing these words, the nagging feeling that Chizuki had been feeling came back and her heart began to beat erratically. She quickly grabbed Lora's hand and began running in Olivia's direction, but not without shouting a goodbye to Margaret.

"Wa..wait Chizu...what's wrong?...why are you running?" Lora was having a hard time trying to regain her balance after Chizuki yeeted her off her feet. It was quite a comical scene.

"I don't know. I have a really bad feeling. We need to find Robin."

After finally managing to gain her balance, Lora saw the look on Chizuki's face and stopped asking questions. Both ran as fast as they could to where they were supposed to meet Robin.

It took them a good 10 or so minutes for them to reach the beach where they agreed to meet Robin. After arriving, Chizuki caught sight of a small boat leaving the island but upon seeing Robin, she ignored it.

"ROBIN"

Upon hearing Lora's shout, Robin turned to see both Chizuki and Lora running towards her while out of breath.

"Guys? Whats wrong? Are you that happy to see me?" she asked with a teasing smirk. Every so often, however, her eyes would look off towards the sea.

"Your...mother..." The words that Chizuki managed to utter between pants completely stole the attention of Robin. Both Lora and Chizuki took a few seconds to catch their breath before Chizuki continued...

"Your mother is back. She bumped into us near old Margarets stall, and everyone recognized her but she seemed like she was in a hurry."

"Umu, she completely knocked us over and didn't even help us... I bet she needed the toilet with how fast she was running."

Even though Lora whispered the last part, both clearly heard her. Chizuki looked at her with a slightly exasperated gaze and Robin looked slightly confused.

"Anyway... I've been getting a bad feeling since earlier and we came here as fast as we could. Lets go and see your mom. I'm probably just not feeling well."

After both agreeing to Chizuki's words, all three of them began making a beeline for the tree of knowledge. Upon arriving, however, they discovered that Olivia had run off with a rifle and everyone in the library where gathering whatever they could as fast as possible.

Everyone began scrambling around as fast as they could while shouting at each other. Meanwhile Chizuki's alarm bells began blaring and even the other two began wondering what was wrong.

All three of them began sprinting through Ohara and upon arriving near the shore, Robin saw something that nearly made her cry. Even the other two froze.

In front of them was Nico Olivia... With blood on her forehead as she was being restrained by two marines. In front of her, beside the marines, were other scholars, each of them riddled with guilt while looking at Olivia with regret.

"Mot..Mother?"

Through all the shouting, a soft whisper was heard. Olivia, though being restrained, managed to look up and saw Robin staring at her with wide, watering eyes. However,... she looked away.

Tears finally fell from Robins eyes, but before she could act on it, a tall man wearing a navy blue suit paired with an orange shirt showed up with his hands in his pocket. With a slightly aged face, shaved beard and long hair split in two at the ends, his Prescence itself screamed authority.

Upon arriving, he glanced at his surroundings, taking in who was present. His gaze scanned everyone like a hawk and Chizuki felt all her hair stand on end when he paused on her for a second or two.

"Let's go" He ordered. In a deep, rough voice and as soon as he commanded, the marines by his side began dragging Olivia by the arms.

"Wa...WAIT!"

Chizuki knew what Robin intended to do but was too late to stop the words from leaving her mouth.

"Where are you taking her" She questioned, though her gaze faltered upon meeting the eyes of the man the marines called Spandine. Chizuki however, took notice of Olivia shaking her head.

"Hey Robin, lets..."

"WHERE ARE YOU TAKING MY MOTHER"

"*sigh* too late"

Silence descended after Robins shouted. Everyone looked towards Spandine wondering what he would do whilst the man himself was looking at Olivia.

"Is she yours" He questioned, and Olivia repeatedly shook her head denying everything.

"NO. NO. She must have the wrong person. You..You got the wrong p..person"

The latter half of her speech, she looked directly into Robins eyes, yet upon seeing the tears streaming down her cheeks, her words nearly faltered in her throat.

Chiuzki quickly caught on to what was happening and tried to help Olivia. She quickly grabbed Robins arm and began to pull her.

"Robin shhh. Let's just go... quick. Ok? We can ask someone for help. Alright." She spoke as fast yet as quiet and reassuringly as she called but Robin seemed too emotionally unstable to think straight.

She shook her hand away from Chizuki's and took a few steps forward.

"Why are you lying... Mom please... " She spoke through sobs yet upon seeing the men still trying to drag away her mother, she became a mix of panicked, mad and scared.

"Where are you taking her? LEAVE MY MOTHER ALONE"

Olivia was originally thankful for the silver haired child's help and stopped looking towards them to prevent herself from doing something she would regret, however, the longer she heard Robins desperation, the more she herself began to cry... and that crying eventually led to sobs.

Spandine, upon seeing this, nodded towards one of his soldiers and said soldier began marching in Robins direction.

"N..No NO. Leave her alone. LEAVE HER OUT OF THIS." Upon realizing his intentions Olivia began to panick and attempt to break free. Chizuki realized what was about to happen and quickly grabbed both Lora and Robin by the hand and was about to make a run for it....

Until...

She heard a loud boom and felt herself being flung in the air.

She spun around a few times, with no sense of direction.

Until she Impacted what appeared to be the ground with a thud.

Ears ringing.

Vision blurred.

The taste of iron in your mouth

A tingling sensation all over

Having no sense of direction

Your mind going blank

...Where am I?

What happened?

It took a few seconds for her vision to clear.

She looked around and saw nothing but chaos.

People lying around, moaning and groaning.

Covered in blood.

Someone seems to have misplaced his leg?

She saw the marines.

And Spandine?... yeah... Spandine running towards the coast.

Looking to her left, she saw a white haired woman hugging a black haired child?

Olivia and Robin. Must be...

It took her a few moments before she managed to push herself on to her hands and knees. Looking down she noticed she had blood flowing down her stomach through the rips in her now dirty dress... she couldn't really feel anything.

She noticed a shoe aproaching in the corner of her vision and looked up to the horrified yet worried face of Lora.

"...Ki... ZU.....Chiz.... CHIZUKI"

After a few seconds, her hearing cleared, and she could hear the shaky voice of her friend.

"Chizuki say something. Are you hurt? Can you stand? How many fingers am I holding up?" The last question was followed by three small fingers being placed right in front of her, nearly hitting her.

"Three. and *cough* I'm fine Lora. Tis but a scratch... I think." She took the outstretched hand of Lora and used it to pull herself up. Lora, however, became even more worried upon hearing Chizuki's words but before she had anytime to complain, Robin came running over with tears in her eyes.

"Guys we need to lea-"

*Boom* *Boom* *BOOM*

Her words were interrupted by three consecutive explosions. Two of them seemed further towards the island's center, but the last one was not too far from where they stood.

All three of them were horrified by what they saw.

Following the explosion, several people just recovering from the earlier one, were sent doing somersaults in the air before hitting various objects around them at various speeds and angles.

What horrified the three girls, however, was the body of one of the scholars. A man who happened to be standing at the point of impact. A kind man who just wanted to help his friends... ended up with a cannon ball removing half of his torso and one of his arms. Following the explosion, what remained was a half charred corpse missing several limbs.

Screams and shouts began to fill the air. The cries of sorrow, The screams of rage. Curses raining freely.

Chizuki began to hear the ringing once more following the explosions but this time she didn't plan on standing around and becoming Swiss cheese. She looked around for the place that looked the safest and saw that most of the explosions were occurring towards the center.

"WE NEED TO LEAVE" She shouted. The ringing affecting her tone. Her friends also seemed to be having the same problem as it seems they barely heard her. Though their nodding shows that they did.

All three of them began making their way towards the west coast, a little away from the beach. Explosions constantly rang all around them, screams of pain, sorrow and rage drowned out all other noise. All three of them held hands as they ran.

Their hands were like a lifeline.

One that was broken, however, by another explosion.

~~~~~~~
No one knows how long had passed. It couldn't have been long because the explosions were still occurring every few seconds. Robin was the first to stir. Slowly opening her eyes, before realizing what was happening and quickly scrambling to her feet. She winced a few times in pain but thankfully it didn't appear to be anything permanent.
She was, however, dizzy.
Her head felt like it was spinning in circles. She looked to where she was standing moments ago and saw both of her friends lying on the floor.
Lora though... didn't look too good.
Robin began shouting for them both whilst limping towards them as fast as possible.
Chizuki began to stir awake due to the incessant shouting and loud noises surrounding her. She hadn't a clue where she was. She looked up to see Robin limping towards her and reached out her hand. Robin pulled her to her feet and they both leaned on each other for support momentarily before they realized what they were missing...
Lora!
Chizuki span around at breakneck speed... and laid eyes upon something that made her puke.
Lying on the floor... covered in blood... and missing an arm... was Lora.
Her best friends.
The girl she has known her entire life. The girl she considered her sister... was nigh unrecognizable.
Both Robin and Chizuki began making their way towards her, one step at a time, the closer they got, the faster their hearts began to pound and the more they were overcome with a feeling of dread.
It almost felt like an anchor, dragging them from behind, slowing down their every step.
Eventually, however, they saw something that would haunt them far into the future.
A tiny face. Devoid of any hair, covered in burn marks and blood.
What was once a beautiful young girl who would grow up to be a beautiful woman, was now something children see in their nightmares.
Chizuki dropped onto her knees before what was once her sister and slowly reached for her face. Robin herself was wallowing in tears all the while struggling to breathe.
Upon contacting Lora's face, Chizuki flinched at the rough, hot, blistery skin. She used every ounce of willpower to not release the rest of what little food she had left all over the floor. Tears, however, had once again began to cloud her vision.
Thankfully, it seems like the marines had focused their shooting in another location considering they were still alive, and the explosions were getting further and further away.
Chizuki was still holding Lora's face and sobbing when she caught what appeared to be a gleam near Lora's neck. Upon closer inspection, she discovered it was the necklace she had wore since the day she was born.
A beautiful silver necklace... that had remained unblemished through everything that had occurred. During her inspection of the necklace, however, she heard the quivering voice of Robin.
"Chizuki" She whispered through tears. "We... We need to go." She looked even more heartbroken after uttering those words. Like she was disgusted with herself. She paused for a few seconds before speaking with a slightly firmer voice. "We can't stay here, we don't know when they will start again."
Chizuki barely registered her words... yet she knew them to be true. She looked back at the body of Lora and softly unhooked the necklace from her neck before placing it around her own. She held onto the necklace with one hand, squeezing it till it cut into her palm, before she looked back upon her friend.
"I... I'm so sorry. Lo..Lora. Please forgive me. I love you and I will never forget you... I promise."
"Me too... Thank you Lora... for being my friend, no... my sister. Goodbye."
The pain felt by both was indescribable. Yet both had to say goodbyes as they left her... alone without so much as burial. Both looked back one last time before they stammered off to the coast as planned. Both with their heads hung low, in shame, guilt, despair... rage.
Eventually, they arrived at the beach, only to be frozen in place by what, or more specifically who, was frozen in front of them. A tall man, better yet a giant, at roughly 60 feet tall, was turned into an ice statue in front of them.
Robin seemed to recognize the man given how she covered her mouth with her hand but luckily, she managed to keep quiet.
Not that it mattered.
"Arara, are you going to come out, or am I going to make you?" a slightly bored voice was heard, though his words were anything but that.
Both Robin and Chizuki carefully peaked their heads out from the tree they were hiding behind to see a tall man wearing a marine suit and an eye mask on his forehead, staring right at them. He had an almost icy mist radiating off him and chizuki's gut feeling was screaming at her to run.
Both of them, slowly walked out from behind the tree, making slow but steady steps until they were around 5 or so meters in front of him.
"W..What do you want?" Robin stammered. Chizuki held onto her hand for support, but Robin felt she was also shaking.
"Just a couple of brats" they heard him mutter. He looked over them a few times, checking the severity of their injuries, before looking around. Noticing no one was around him, he looked back at the kids and made a quick decision.
He stepped aside, revealing a small rowing boat. Probably big enough for maybe 4 people.
"Five minutes. You have five minutes to leave otherwise you'll join the big man behind you." He looked towards the frozen giant a few meters away from them to emphasize his point and both Chizuki and Robin nodded as fast as they could.
They both limped towards the boat, being careful as they passed him, but not before uttering a thank you.
"Thanks." Chizuki muttered, just barely loud enough for him to hear but upon hearing these words he clicked his tongue. "Don't thank me. I'm not your friend, I'm your enemy. If I ever see you again, I will kill you. I'm also going to report your escape, so you'll be branded as criminals and receive bounties. So good luck. May we never meet again."
Both girls shuddered at these words and hastened their pace. upon arriving at the boat, they made the decision to use one paddle each and began to row in tandem as fast as possibe.
The further away they got, the more emotions they began to feel. The reality of the situation set in. All within the space of maybe an hour, they had both lost everything. Their homes, Their family... Their sister. They only had each other. They were all that's left of what was once a beautiful island.
The further they sailed, the blurrier their vision got. The more tears began to fall. The heavier the weight on their shoulders became. The tighter their hearts felt. The harder it became to breathe.
Eventually, they both stopped paddling and began to cry. They experienced more pain in one hour than most do in a life time... and the worst part was... they don't even know why. What did they do wrong? What crimes did they commit? What atrocities were committed that called for so much destruction... so much "justice"?
justice... what a load sh*t.
.....
After ten or so minutes of uncontrollable sobs, they both managed to calm down slightly. They stopped crying mainly because of the pain they were in and how sore their eyes were given how much they had cried within so little time.
They both realized they had no food. No water. No map. No skills. No aim.
They had nothing but a will to live... well half of one... but half plus half is a whole so they had a whole will to live.
*Ahem* anyways...
Both Robin and Chizuki started paddling once more. They began to plan for what they could. They read ALOT and were geniuses. They could both adapt and overcome. They can catch fish to eat, boil sea water and drink it, though they need to collect the condensation, they can follow the sea using weather patterns and hopefully find a nearby village.
All in all, Life is good. They're alive, and they will live. Its human nature to adapt and overcome and that's exactly what they will do. THEY. WILL. LIVE.
"LOOK OUT!!"
*BOOOM*
