Chapter 3 - Test

Chizuki Pov

Around an hour or so after we left the hospital, we made our way towards Garps house. On our way back, however, we decided to make a little trip to the kitchen. After grabbing everything we both found appetising and listening to the chefs scream bloody murder, we left them with nothing but empty hopes and dre- *cough* I mean empty cuboards.

Garps house was only a few minutes walk from the headquaters. It seems like the higher your rank, the nicer the area you live. Several houses were placed side by side but not so close that you didn't have room. There was a 50 or so meter gap between each house.

Green grass was all around with a plethra of flowers growing from it. There was a fountain in the center of the neighbourhood, trees all around. Overall it seemed peaceful.

Upon reaching Garps house, I could't help but notice the simplicity of it. It wasn't anything special at all, just a regular three story house. Its exterior was white but it had blue windows and a blue door.

It clearly follows the colour scheme of the marines.

After entering, he led me up to the third floor to what I guess is the guest bed room and told me to rest since I have the test tomorrow. I plopped down on to the surpisingly comfortable bed and was for some reason hit with a wave of nostalgia.

It doesn't really make sense and I honestly don't see why but I doubt I'll remember either so I may as well just ignore it.

Though I do wonder how I will fare as a marine. For some reason I cannot seem to imagine my self as one but I guess only time will tell.

After finishing my self monologue, I turned off the little lamp at the side of my bed and decided to go to bed early. Even though I haven't been awake for too long my mind is still exhausted after receiving so much information.

I mean, it's not everyday you find out the inhabitants of your home island are essentially terrorists researching weapons of mass destruction and that you nearly lost your life upon trying to escape.

But, when life gives you lemons, you throw them at whoever pisses you off and continue with your life, and that's exactly what I will do.

Goodnight.

*3rd Person pov*

*Woosh*

"Rise and shine brat Bwahahah"

"Ugh"

Awakening with a groan, Chizuki opened her aching eyes to the sight of a laughing Garp munching his endless supply of crackers. Looking out of the previously opened curtains, she could see that the sun hadn't even risen yet, telling her it was still extremely early.

"What time is it?" Her voice was slightly raspy considering her recent awakening.

"4:30. The early bird gets the bird remember.. oh yeah you don't. Bwahahaha."

She looked at him with an unimpressed gaze before groaning and flipping back under her covers, hiding from the light.

"Five more minutes"

She though it was a reasonable request. 24 hours in a day and she only asked for a pitiful five minutes of extra nap time but, unfortunately, Garp didn't feel the same way.

Just as she felt herself drifting off into the land of dreams once more, Garp decided on a more practical approach. He simply grabbed her legs through the covers and dragged her out of her bed.

"Ah I'm up, I'm up."

Thankfully, upon feeling herself falling, she managed to prevent her head from hitting the floor. Garp, however, didn't relent. He continued dragging her by the legs until they reached the guest bathroom and then threw her into it.

"Bwahahah. No such thing as five more minutes in this house brat. We're up at 4:30 every morning. Have a wash and brush your teeth before getting changed. I left some clothes in there for you. Meet me downstairs in 30 minutes."

After saying his piece he left to go do his own thing.

Chizuki did as he said and got ready for the day. He left her what looked like training clothes. A pair of black flexible pants and a simple white shirt to match it. The shirt had the marine symbol on the back so the colours mixed fairly well.

However, the problem stemmed from her shoes.

They were sandals...

Normally she wouldn't mind but she was supposed to be training so she should at least have a decent pair of shoes... right? Maybe she will get some proper shoes when she gets to wherever it is she's being tested?.

After putting the sandals on, she made her way downstairs where she saw Garp sitting at a wooden table reading a newspaper. The room was simple yet screamed comfort. A nice white carpet on the floor, a comfy looking white couch. She could even see pictures of Garp and a few others on the wall.

She would have to ask him about them sometime.

She waddled her way over and noticed another slip of paper on the table. She picked it up and was shocked by what she saw.

----

<79,000,000>

The picture, on what was clearly a bounty, was that of a child. One that looks to be the same age as herself. Tanned skin, blue eyes, black hair.

The moment she played eyes upon the girl in the photo her heart began to pound in her chest for reasons unknown to herself. (It's not love. don't go there)

Garp placed down the newspaper he was reading and looked up only to see Chizuki staring unblinkingly at the bounty issued two days prior.

"What's wrong girl? You recognise her?" He didn't know whether to hope he was right or wrong. If she recognised her, it means her memories may be coming back. But that would also mean that she's aquatinted with the child the marines are currently trying so hard to find.

On second thought, her regaining her memories would also meaning remembering everything she's been through, and it's not something he wants a child to remember.

"I... I don't know.

No.

I don't recognise her I'm just surprised someone the same age as me is so dangerous that she has so much money placed on her head... I can't really imagine the type of things she must have done."

Garp sighed at hearing her words. He didn't like it either. In fact, he hated it more than she did. But he couldn't tell her that.

"Look at her last name brat" He said with a sigh.

"Nico... as in?"

He nodded towards her assumption. "She's the child of Nico Olivia. She's learned the same things Olivia did, been taught the same things, including the forgotten yet forbidden language."

"..But she's just a kid, like me. She's even from the same place as me. Isn't there another way?"

He looked into her eyes upon hearing her question. "Who knows brat. Maybe. Unfortunately, everyone is destined to walk down different paths but all said paths can be categorised into two paths."

"What paths?" She asked with curiosity.

"The path of the weak.. and the path of the strong and unfortunately for the former, the latter completely overshadows it. The weak are trampled on by the strong and there is nothing they can do about it.

But you see brat, that's where we come in. Us marines doing what we can to protect them so that they can live a good life too... well most of us do anyway."

"What do you mean by most?"

"There is always two sides to every coin, never forget that girl. Just because one side seems shiny, doesn't mean the other side is"

Silence rained between them for a little while after what he said. Before Chizuki spoke up again.

"Damn old man, I didn't think you were smart" She said with a giggle. She even took the precaution of moving a few steps back lest he tries to hit her again.

Seems she underestimated the power of his love.

*Bonk*

*Thud*

Something she realised just as her head hit the floor, after being hit... again.

She didn't even see him move.

"Damn brat. I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but Im still the strongest one Bwahahahah" He began to leave after finishing his lecture and half way to the door, he heard Chizuki again. She was still face planted in the carpet.

"Aren't the sharpest tools usually the strongest though?"

"SHUT IT BRAT... and follow me"

Seems her wisdom is no match for his thick skin... or fist.

*Two hours later*

Chizuki was currently standing in a training yard of sorts. There was a few other people around which was surprising given the time and she had in fact drew quite a bit of attention. Not only because of her age, but also cause of the fact that Garp and Sengoku where stood near her like two parents supporting their child on sports day.

Chizuki was surprised when Sengoku himself showed up. She figured with hm being the head of literally all the marines he would be busy, but apparently he can simply throw his work on others.

Both of them looked especially out of place however. Everyone around them were in formal uniforms, yet both Garp and Sengoku showed up in a pair of shorts and a T'shirt. Garps had pineapples decorated on it and Sengoku's had... goats?

Whatever.

"Right Chizuki. Are you ready?" He continued after gaining a simple nod from her. "Given your age and the lack of muscle anywhere on your body, I'm going to make the assumption that you have never had any training.

Since this is just a test, we only need to figure out the basics of what you're capable of and then we can develop a training plan perfect for you.

The test will cover the essentials. Such as:

Physical strength

Speed

Stamina

Endurance

and finally Iq.

The Iq part is more of comprehensive abilities than intelligence, how fast you adapt and how fast you can learn new techniques and skills, but the rest is self explanatory. Any questions."

"Hai" She answered, followed by the raising of her hand. Which was almost and instinct.

"What is it"

She took a few seconds to think about what she wanted to say.

"Does being punched in the head three times by Garp and my healing not attest to my endurance?"

"Bwahahahaha. Good one brat."

Sengoku looked at Garp with an accusatory gaze but the man in question just looked away while whistling and picking his nose with his pinky.

"You know what, sure. Now let's start."

And that's exactly what they did.

The next two hours were spent testing her attributes. Some were tests were worse than others, but she didn't find them too hard.

Firstly, the strength test.

Sengoku took her to an area filled with weights in the shape of dumbbells ranging from a single kg to what she could have swore said something along the lines of 1000T.

She was told to start from one kg and make her way up. She had to lift it from the floor and over her head for three seconds for it to count. The problem was however, the more she lifted the more tired her arms became.

She only managed to lift up to 70 kg (weight of average man) before she stopped since her arms felt like they were going to drop.

(She had a special physique remember)

Sengoku noted it down on his little pad and then after a quick ten minute break, they moved onto the next one... speed.

Sengoku led her towards a track marked with different lengths. 10m, 25m 50, 100m, 200m, and so on. The number doubled for quite a while.

She was told to run the 100M as fast as she could.

Her score was 7.3 seconds. Pretty impressive... She also didn't really feel anything afterwards which was a welcome surprise.

Sengoku seemed pretty impressed too and he gave a little nod and began plotting in his notebook once more. Garp had, at one point, disappeared and reappeared moments later with a box of crackers and even at little crowd had gathered to watch her test.

Most of them were curious, most were just nosy.

After another quick ten minute break and a bottle of water later, it was time for the stamina test. Sengoku took her to another part of the track, a circular one that was around 400 meters around. The aim of the stamina test was simple. Last as long as possible.

So she did.

She kept at a moderate pace and began to jog around the 400 meter track.

One lap.

Two laps.

Five.

Fifteen.

Thirty

Fifty

...Seventy

She completed seventy laps in one hour which is pretty impressive for a kid. Averaging at around 15 mph for an hour straight is good for someone with no training whatsoever... IN SANDALS. (24,000 meters is 15 mile)

Yeah, she asked for a new pair of shoes but both of them just laughed at her and told her its "good practice", so with a sigh she had no choice but to listen since it was either that or going bare foot.

And finally came the comprehension test.

Sengoku came before her and demonstrated one of the six special marine skills. Soru. At technique that allows the user to travel at superhuman speeds. He first explained to her how the ability worked and the mechanics behind it and then showed her three times.

Afterwords he set up a timer of one hour which was the time limit for her comprehension test.

However, he was in for a surprise as not even 10 seconds after he had pressed start:

"I finished"

"Huh?"

"I finished."

"What do you mean"

"Soru? I learned it"

Sengoku took a minute or two to comprehend what she had said before exclaiming!

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU FINISHED, YOU JUST STARTED?"

Even Garp was surprised but in the end he just shook his head and laughed, though he waited for her explanation.

"Well I mean it's pretty simple: You kick the ground at extreme speed creating a sort of pressure bubble right? Then you kick that bubble at extreme speeds creating another stronger bubble on top of that one and continue to do so ten times before the press built up launches you at extreme speeds."

You explained it as if she was talking about something simple like what she had for breakfast but both Sengoku and Garp were surprised. Heck even the bystanders were appalled. All the time, all the blood sweat and tears they put into learning Soru to look coo- *cough* to get stronger, only for a child to learn it instantly.

God clearly has favourites.

(╯°Д°)╯︵/(.□ . \)

"Bwahahahahaha"

The silence was broken by a laughing Garp.

"You should see your face right now Sengoku, you could fit a fist in there Bwahahaha... or several crackers...

Maybe I should try."

The last sentence was a whisper, though both Sengoku and Chizuki heard him and Chizuki began to laugh as he began stuffing as many crackers into his mouth as possible. He looked like a squirrel. Sengoku just shook his head with a sigh at the antics of his idiotic best friend.

"Well. That concludes the test. I'll personally create a training program for you to follow. You will train here under me and Garp for 4 years and then you'll join the marine program mean for recruits. Though you will join the elite version meant for the best.

As for your test... you did good. It's not the best results I have seen but it's a start at least-"

He was about to continue but Garp interrupted.

"What are you talking about Sengoku Bwahahaha, she's a lil monster. Considering she's never trained before, her results are greta Bwahahaha."

"DAMN IT GARP."

Both a groan and a sigh escaped him as he looked at the idiot beside him. Sometimes he just wants to punch that stupid head of his but he knows it wouldn't do anything... except maybe kill his last remaining brain cell.s

"*Sigh* Well, I was going to lie and say you did ok so that you wouldn't remain complacent and would strive for strength, but thanks to this IDIOT, it's now ruined."

*quiet Bwahaha'ing intensifies*

"But Garp is right for once in his life, you did extremely well. Better than around 90% of the new recruits do every year, so well done."

She smiled at his words and thanked him but then tilted her head and asked with curiosity. "90%? What about the other ten?"

Sengoku and Garp looked towards one another first before Garp shrugged his shoulders and spoke.

"Of the other five, some of them are the children of marines and have been trained since a young age... and the rest are young talents like yourself.

However, don't underestimate yourself, remember what Sengoku said, you beat 90% of marines who enlist in the marines, those are usually a few years older than you. There is only a few people like you who join at very young ages.

My son is an example of all three of these actually. He joined the marines at a young age after being trained by me since the day her was born, and he's quite talented Bwahahahaha."

"Eh, you have a son?" Naturally she was shocked upon learning he had a son but it then turned to pity upon hearing what Garp said. "I pity him"

*Bonk*

"Gah"

And upon uttering such words, she once again became acquainted with the ground.

"Seems you need to be taught about respect eh brat. Bwahahaha, don't worry, my fists of love will knock it right into your very bones"

He demonstrated said fists of love by swinging around his fist and Chizuki flinched at the thought of a serious fist of love.

"Garp stop traumatising the child and you should't pity Dragon... too much anyway. He did become the youngest rear admiral ever after all."

"Pfftt"

Sengoku was surprised by the unintentional giggle Chizuki released but that became confused. "Did I say something funny?"

Instead of answering him, she looked towards Garp instead, who also looked confused. Said confusion, however, quickly turned to irritation at her next words.

"Pfttt. Phahahahahaha. You named your kid Dragon. That's hilarious."

The moment she finished speaking she took off running away from him, knowing what was coming and moments later, she heard an annoyed Garp chasing her.

"Stinking brat, don't let me catch you"

"Or what? You'll set your dragon on me phahahaha"

Sengoku just watched as Garp "chased" after Chizuki, though a small smile made its way onto his face.

"Garp seems to be having fun. Rahahahaha."

Its currently like 4 Am as I'm writing this so cut me some slack alright.

Time skip next chap.

Her physique will be explained as well.

I'm honestly not sure how physically strong OP characters are but I assume they should be able to lift a few hundred tons considering they destroy mountains with punches.

Thanks for reading.
