MY ACTUAL FIRST DAY OF THE LAST YEAR BEGAN AT 4 AM FOR ME. I dressed my black leggings, my black gym bra that doesn't make my breast look as big as they are, my pair of blood-moon themed socks, and my black Yeezy. Then I braided my hip-length long hair in two boxing braids and made a shake to take with me, in a bottle that can carry without using my hands.
Of course, I covered myself with a black gym jacket, not to go around showing my skin. And took my phone with me, with my orchestra playlist playing on my ears. Then I left my dorm and began to run around the territory of the castle. As usual, I ran 7 times, then I go up, take a bath, and get ready for school, which starts at 6:30 am.
But when I was in my 5th turn, someone joined me on my morning routine. Someone I wasn't very welcoming of. One of the 11 bastards.
Dante Winters. Khan's blonde twin.
He said something but I didn't hear because of the song. Reluctantly, I paused it. "Could you repeat what you just said?"
But the wolf shifter didn't seem bothered. "Hi, there. Seems like we share the same routine, hm? So, maybe we'll be able to get to know each other better," he was using dark blue long gym clothes making his body, showing how slim he was compared to the sculpted body of his twin.
"I doubt that. I do this every single day since I first arrived here, and I'm sure no one ever runs around here at this hour," I said straightforward, looking at the way in front of me.
He giggled, "Oh, well. I do it, but around my House."
"Shouldn't wolves and vampire stay far away from each other? As the co-head of the Shifter House in Montanari, you shouldn't be this careless, Dante Winters. You are in vampire territory, and believe me, people on this hellhole are problematic with a capitalized P."
"Well, I'm used to trouble having Khan as my brother. Why are you worried about me, Amethyst?"
I made a disgusted face, "I couldn't care less. However, if you get hurt, they might blame me, since they won't want the trouble. Which means, it'll be my trouble, and I don't want that shit. So, please, leave."
But Dante seemed more amused, then he held my forearm and made us stop, making me glare at him. "Okay. I came here to apologize for how we kind of treated you yesterday."
Clenching my jaw, I took his hand off me, took a long sip of my drink and glared at him again, noticing how he must be centimeters shorter than his twin, but still a lot taller than me. "Too late for that, don't you think? It's not like we can go back in time and avoid it from happening," sigh. "Look, Dante Winters, with all due respect, I have absolute no desire in befriending any of you. So, you don't need to push it."
That seemed to get him off guard, "Everyone in Montanari would love to get this close to us, and be accepted in the our Debate Club."
I scoffed, "Well, I couldn't care less. I'm only doing this because the Principal is blackmailing me, saying that I won't graduate and get into D'Angelo's Gastronomy School if I don't stop pretending to be average and show her the actual potential she knows I have. Or whatever bullshit she's saying. So, don't take it personally. Stay out of my way, and I'll stay out of yours," then I took another long sip of my drink.
He gulped, "Are you drinking blood?"
"I'm a vampire, what did you expect? That I would drink rats pee or something?" I mocked, taking one more sip. "And it's not just blood, okay? It's my special shake. This one has cow's blood with vanilla essence to soften the smell, oat milk, strawberries, mint, bananas, lemon, and condensed milk to make it sweet."
His pupils dilated showing how thirsty he was for it, and only then I remembered that wolf shifts also tend to drink blood, but only animal's blood opposite to vampires. He'll probably enjoy this more than I do.
So, I opened the top and handed it to him. "Taste it. Gabriel tried and vomited, but he doesn't drink blood. You do. As you can probably tell by the scent, it's cow's blood so you don't have to worry." Dante seemed to be ponding if he should take it or not, so I took his hand and pushed the bottle to him. "I get it. You are uncomfortable drinking blood in front of others, right? Well, take the bottle. I have more than 20, you can keep it!"
Then I put my air pods again and got back to running, leaving him there. When I passed around that spot again, he was gone with the bottle. So, after I was done, I went up and got took a bath, then got ready to go, making another bottle of the shake to drink on my way.
Crossed The Line by the unaware singer Jessica Baio played in my air pods, as I left the Vamps House and went on my way to the main castle of the mixed classes. And this time I chose to use my pair of black baggy pants and my dark red hoodie with the crest of Montanari on the left chest, in my foot I had my high dark red converse with black laces.
My backpack otherwise was black in glitter with lots of different moon phases in silver. It's the best one I've ever seen in the black market, and it's material is the best possible. I got it a year ago, and still look new. It was handmade by an old witch called Rossa Agosti, and she's only there on Halloween and in the Winter Solstice, so it's hard to see her.
In my face I only used my dark red lipstick, and my favorite silver eyeliner that make my eyes look bigger. While my hair was lose in natural waves. There was also crescent moon long earrings in my ears, and lots of silver rings in my fingers. And I also painted my sharp nails black before I went to sleep yesterday.
The vampires always thought my sense of fashion was weird, and said I should be more like them. But I feel comfortable like this. And that's obviously what matters to me. They can go fuck themselves with whatever is it that they think about me. It won't change who I am.
But this time felt strange, since I felt lots of eyes on me, which I'm not really used to. They all must think I'm new, since I've never studied in mixed classes like today. It'll be quite weird. At least the teachers are the same.
And fuck, if I hadn't sensed her approaching me from behind, I would have been startled shitless by how Zara landed in front of me, her gracious wings dancing on her sides. She said something but didn't hear a thing, so she came closer to try taking my air pods and I slapped her hand away softly, taking them out. Annoyed.
"Are you always in a sour mood like this at this hour in the morning, Amethyst?"
I took a sip of my drink, "If I keep meeting any of you every single time like this, then yes. I'll stay in a terrible mood."
She pouted, "Are you still upset about yesterday?"
"No. I'm just annoyed by the fact that you all keep approaching me when we aren't in any of the damn clubs. You must communicate with each other, no? Didn't Dante Winters told you that I have no interest in making friends with any of you? We may be slightly friendly, Zara, but there's a difference in being friendly and being friends."
Ignoring me, she tried to cross her arm on mine but I took mine away, then she out hers on my shoulders. "Come on. Dante even said you gave your drink to him, and despite Khan throwing a tantrum about it, he said that your bloody drink was delicious."
"Of course, it is. I know what I'm doing!"
She giggled, "Of course, you does. What's your first period? I'll add you in our group later!"
"Chemistry VII. And I refuse."
"Oh, sad. I'm in Music History V. And it's the Debate Club group chat, don't be an ass. You are in the Club now, didn't Gabriel or Dante told you?"
"No. And didn't you judge me dumb? I'm not interested in it anymore."
She let out a deep sigh, "Come on. The principal will get annoyed with us and with you if you don't participate on it. We didn't knew it was an order from her, or things would be different."
That made me chuckle bitterly, and I took her hand off me again. "Meaning that you still think I'm dumb and don't deserve to be on your stupid club. I'm only in because the principal wants me to. I get it. Now, back off, please. I don't want to have bad emotions for you, Zara, so, don't push it. You and Sabrina are still the only two I can take in that group of yours. Don't put yourself in the other group." Then I put my air pods again and left her alone. Drinking one more sip of my shake.
I saw Khan, Bryant, and Kaleb talking with each other on the left side of my view, but I acted as if I hadn't seen anything and kept walking while drinking my breakfast.
