Chapter 51 - Proper Knowledge

Before he proceeded to do anything he sat down and meditated. While he had technically absorbed the knowledge of Itroth the Calamity, he really bit off more than he could chew.

The sheer amount of knowledge that was still in the orb was so vast, if he had to absorb all of it immediately his head might have exploded. As such if he wanted to know something specific he had to sit down and search for it, this was a countermeasure put in by his talent to ensure his safety.

It was as if he had a bunch of files on a PC, just because the files are there doesn't mean that you know exactly what is on them, nor would you have instant access to all of them. You would have to search through all of them and open them individually to get what you want.

What he was searching for now was information regarding lesser wyrms and greater draconic beasts. He wasn't familiar with how to search so it took him some time, but after a few minutes he finally got what he wanted.

"Thankfully I waited before I dealt with these, otherwise there would be no telling just how much I would have lost."

After going over the information in his head he found out that besides collecting the blood, he would have wasted almost all of the bodies. The first mistake he found was that he didn't properly deal with any of the tendons in the first one.

The tendons of a greater draconic beast have an almost infinite amount of uses and after butchering the first one they were all left in an unusable state. He could only blame his ignorance on the matter but now that he knew he wasn't going to continue making the same mistake.

"While it's not as important, I was also wasting such high quality meat. Just cutting it into pieces wasn't a wise choice. Different parts of the meat should be prepared differently and with the way I cut the first one there is no way of telling."

If cooked properly, the meat of such powerful beasts, even if young, should have given him some sort of stat boost. But the fact that such a thing didn't happen meant that he wasted it, and while it wasn't much in the grand scheme of things, every stat point was important.

Not only was he trying to find a way back home, he was in the middle of an extremely dangerous forest and now had a blood feud with some of the most powerful entities in this section of the new world, even if they didn't know this yet. The feeling of pure dread he felt in the forest not long after massacring the goblins at the foot of the mountain still was fresh in his mind.

"But I did have the right idea with the scales and the skin though. As a matter of fact if I manage to find the proper resources I could easily make a new set of extremely durable clothes. Well easily is an overstatement, just because I theoretically know how it's done doesn't mean that I am skilled enough to pull it off."

As Itroth was one that stood at the top of the world, it was natural that he was well versed in a multitude of things, one can not get to that point being a one trick pony. But Ray having access to such knowledge didn't instantly turn him into a master of every craft Itroth dabbled in.

You could read all you want on how to do open heart surgery, but with no proper training and most importantly no form of practice you are guaranteed to kill the patient.

He knew theoretically how to make a high quality leather jacket, but if he tried to do so with all of the skin at once he would ruin all of it. Knowledge is not a substitute for experience and he was well aware of that.

"Better get started, I have a lot to do."

As a practice run he took the smallest one, which was still 160 meters, and started to process it. He levitated its body and with a wave of a hand all of the scales were peeled off, which was soon to be followed by the skin. This was no different from the first one so he was quick to finish.

Then he cut a long insertion into the bottom side and all of the internal organs fell out. He had the right idea with the first one where he was going to eat the heart, liver and lungs, but the stomach and pancreas was surprisingly useful.

The stomach could be used to make spatial bags and the pancreas, if properly processed, could form a potent poison or a powerful medicine. While awakened had easy access to the inventory skill, most people were not awakened and as such needed different ways of carrying around their belongings.

Spatial bags served this purpose and even awakened would use them, the inventory skill had limited capacity so they would store the excess items in these pouches. He was a special case and as he didn't want to draw unnecessary attention to himself he would also need to find himself a spatial bag, and one made out of the stomach of a greater draconic beast was bound to be useful.

The heart was a special case however, he could eat it directly but unless he had one of a few special bloodlines it would be better to extract the heart blood from it. This was a more potent form of blood unique to magic beasts and is usually stored in a special compartment in the heart.

One of these special bloodlines was called the Ancient Behemoth Body and it allowed those who had it to directly consume the heart blood and beast cores of magic beasts to absorb their power. Itroth himself had this bloodline, but unlike most others it was not one that he was born with.

"There is no question that I will follow through with the same operation as him, but I have no where close to what I would need to follow through with it. That being said." He looked over to the brain of the first one he butchered and out of it came a small yellow marble, this was the beast core of the earthen wyrm and quickly after it was extracted the brain started to wither away.

"One of the ingredients for the first stage of the operation is the beast cores of various powerful beasts. And thankfully one of them has to have a pure earth element, this one is a little on the small side but it should be enough with the other 3."

He looked over to the heart and similarly something came flying out of it, but this time it was a liquid. The heart blood of the earthen wyrm was deep crimson with streaks of yellow in it, but that should be expected for an earth element beast.

'Now to store it.' Unlike other parts of the body, the heart blood would start to decay quickly after being exposed to air, and this would happen even in his soul sea.

As it was so young there wasn't that much heart blood to be found, only about 50 ml so he found no issue with forming an iron ball around it. This was only a short term solution as it would start to erode the iron but it was the best that he could do for the time being.

He looked back over to the wyrm he was processing and decided to take it slow, he wanted to make as little mistakes as possible and start building experience.

Using what he knew he made a list of instructions and followed them to the tee, and while it wasn't perfect he was improvising and correcting as he went. While Itroth had certainly come across wyrms in his lifetime, they were not the same as earth wyrms. While a wyrm looks like a true dragon, the earthen wyrm resembles more of an armored earth worm.

And even if he did come across earthen wyrms, they would have changed and evolved over the countless millennia since his death.

Since he was talking it slow and had to freestyle a little, it took him a little over 2 hours to complete. Coupled with the breaks he took to make sure he was on the right track and stopping to cook some food, it took him about 3 hours when everything was done.

But he wasn't wasting his time, while he was focusing on making sure that he was doing it properly, he was also searching his mind for anything pertaining to Itroth's signature cultivation method, the Hundred Flowers Cultivation method.
