Qasrina’s bag fell out of her hands, she immediately clinging onto Kou’s leg. Qasrina, a well-respected member of the community, notorious for her toughness now begging and holding onto the leg of her lover.
“Why won’t you ever listen to me? Please, you can’t go there, Kou!”
“I have to, Qas. It’s work! Why.. why aren’t you letting me go?” Kou says as he tries to pry his leg from Qasrina’s grasp.
Qasrina took a huge breath in as she looked around. Her tears spilling over like an overfilled sink, her hands combing through her hair as she kept finding reasons, thinking,’how do I say it? I can’t.’
“I-I. I can’t-”
“I’m sorry . Qasrina. It's work.”
Kou pulled his foot from Qasrina, her hands landing roughly onto the wooden floor of their apartment. With eyes red from crying and a nose agitated with non-stop sniffling, Qasrina groveled on the floor, her head on the floor, her knees tucked beneath her and her hands above her head clasped together. Through broken sobs, she begged.
“Please, I don’t want you to go.”
Qasrina flinched as she heard the door shut close and Kou’s steps faded away. Her tears stopped. Her body rolled into a ball, as uncontrollable sobs escaped her yet no tears.
