This was an important stage in this process, and failure would not only lead to his having to repeat the whole process but also a delay in his plans to get into the city as fast as possible.

And now that someone had finally taken the place of the successor, he couldn't help but be happy.

The cult leader had not told him to actually explain to Wilder the so-called mission that might make him lose his freedom, but he was about to
"The Jade Beast is an ancient being from old; it was one of the most, if not the most, enlightened beasts of all, and its power was unrivaled, but of course with such enlightenment and power came the envy of others; even the great demon king Luido fell into the hands of fate, and our lord was no different, but instead of falling into a deep slumber, it sperated its core attributes into three and sent them to hide away in the world in hopes that its chosen would revive it once again.
"We are the followers of his majesty the jade beast, and we are also its descendants," the jade beast cult leader explained to Wilder.
Though they said their goal was to revive the jade beast, that was just too far away with their strength; they wouldn't be able to do anything, but the hope had to be kept; they had to keep trying for one day the chosen might appear and their lord would be revived.
"That goal is far away for now; we will have to focus on what we can do at this moment, which is getting the other three attributes and making you a true Jade Beast successor," the cult leader said.
He then went on to explain Wilder's goal in Savage City.
"You must have heard of the doungon opening in Savage City," the cult leader inquired.
"hm!" Wilder nodded
Yes, that was in fact the main reason his team left—to get the treasures of the dungeon in Savage City.
"Good, that dungeon is a scared shrine of our lord the jade beast; you will need to gain his recognition there to become his successor; then and only then will you and I be safe from losing our freedom." The cult leader spoke with seriousness.
He then stood up and walked towards the female knight.
"You won't be the only one seeking the recognition of our lord; there are two other parties: the jade church and the temple of the jade beast. Both of their successors will be in the dungeon when it reveals its secret chambers, and there you will get the chance to steal the parts of the jade skin technique to help you get further in the dungeon and ultimately receive the recognition of the lord." While speaking, he took from the female knight an orb and threw it at Wilder.
"This will help," he added.
"What is it?" Wilder aksed
"I don't know; I've never found the function, but it should be helpful." the leader of the Jade Beast Cult
"There is a portal inside the pool; I have unlocked its gate. Use it to get to the city, and remember, the consequence of failure is eternal servitude."
After saying that, Wilder jumped into the pool.
"Servitude for us, but for you? I'm afraid the consequences are more dire." The jade beast cult leader muttered before turning to leave the cave.
