Chapter 18 - Setting of To Savage City

"Hmm," said Wilder after reading the information about this new quest.

It stated that Wilder was to take the head of the fake successor and bring it over to the current leader of the Jade Beast cult in town so he could take on the title of Jade Beast successor.

"It can't be that easy, right?" Wilder mused

Could he really just go back to town with the head of their former successor and claim the title of the new one? That sounded absurd; they were more likely to attack him than let him take the seat of their successor.

"but…" Wilder didn't think the game would give him a mission that would undoubtedly lead to his death.

"Okay, let's do it then," Wilder said, standing up to leave the cave.

The bodies would naturally disintegrate. After he left

Inside the Jade Beast Town

Wilder could be seen walking slowly into the town with a bag over his shoulder, and from his sides, several men and women could be seen coming out of various inn buildings.

These were the players of Jade Beast Town.

It was right about now that most students in the military academy would get off class and head into the game.

"Yo, isn't that a warrior rank 4 player?" One of them stopped and whispered while pointing at Wilder.

Wilder had forgotten to turn on the hide feature on his panel, seeing that not a lot of people were around, but now they were.

"Cap, there are no warrior rank 4 players in this small Jade Beast town; all of them have moved to the cities," another player replied.

He was, of course, right. Most of the warrior-rank players had gone to the cities for bigger opportunities and better equipment.

It was nearly impossible to break out of the warrior rank in Jade Beast town, and these were the reasons why the player was skeptical about wilder's rank.

But Wilder didn't pay them any mind as he kept walking deeper and deeper into the town. Soon enough, he stopped after noticing a man in a luxurious purple robe standing outside the Town Hall seemingly waiting for someone.

"I guess that's him," Wilder mused as he walked towards the man in purple.

Upon seeing Wilder approach him, the man in purple nodded at him and gestured for Wilder to follow him.

"gling"

The man in purple walked into the town hall as Wilder followed behind; after a few twists and turns, they finally came in front of a small room under ground.

"Take a seat," the man in purple said to Wilder with a wave of his hand.

There was a round table right in the middle of this room.

A few minutes later

"So you were the one that killed my son Lucas?" The man in purple said it very casually as he grabbed a metal cup and took a sip of whatever was inside.

"your son?" Wilder looked shocked.

The fake successor was the cult leaders son? He had killed this guy, and now he was here to claim his title from his father? If that wasn't the definition of courting death, then what was?

"senior i…" Wilder said in a hesitant voice:

"I don't have the time for all that. You have to fully take on the mantle of the jade beast's successor before the next blood moon, or else all of us in the village will forfeit our freedom to some unknown force, do you understand?" The jade beast cult leader said in an irritated tone.

He didn't want to speak about how Wilder had killed his son; the rules were the rules, and he could not circumvent them even if he tried.

"What do I have to do?" Wilder said with a serious expression.

Losing their freedom, he had heard of this kind of punishment in game, which was basically a time out. While others were improving their characters, you would be stuck, unable to continue playing for a period of time.

The bad thing was that there was no way to circumvent this; even creating new accounts was worthless. It was one of the most dreaded in-game punishments.

"Why do these AI's have it out for me?" Wilder sighed. At first, it was the system getting him into trouble; now, the game's AI made him take a quest with these kinds of repercautions.

"Simple, you will need to complete these missions so we can prepare the jade skin solution for you. Only then will you be able to take the next step on your path." The jade beast cult leader explained to Wilder

"Why do you look so serious?" Wilder asked

Right now, he was already outside the town hall, and he was now in the town restaurant, meeting with his teammates.

They, like the other cadets, had gotten off school, so they logged onto the game.

"There's a huge event going on in the Savage City, and we are planning to head out today," Anya explained to Wilder.

The Savage City was the closest city to the Jade Beast Town, and luckily there was a massive dungeon opening in the Savage City. It was the appropriate timing for them to leave and get good loot

"oh?" Wilder nodded

They had truly stayed in Jade Beast Town for far too long and it was partially his fault.

"Okay, but…..I have a few things…." Wilder said hesitantly.

Anya turned gloomy when she heard that, but she didn't say anything more, turning her head away.

"Snow is waiting for us in Savage City; maybe when you get there we will meet up again." Anya spoke with a hint of frustration in her voice.

He was the main reason there were still here in fact at this point they were the only warrior rank team in towns the rest had moved onto the cities but he was till adamant on staying here

"Okay, till then," Wilder replied with some sadness.

He couldn't tell them about the Jade Beast mission and delay them any longer; it was his burden, and he would carry it on his shoulder without complaint.

And so they left Wilder and headed to the Savage City.

Wilder looked on as he waved them good-bye; there was so much he didn't know and so much he had to do.

"maximum effort" Wilder took a deep breath and said
