Wilders mouth was wide open in absolute shock; he was banging the class president? That was beyond peak.
Beside him, the instructor James couldn't help but sneer at Wilder with disdain. The class president of the second year was called Sapphire.
And she was by far the most beautiful girl in that year, so it was normal for young men like Wilder to be acting like that in front of her, but she wasn't just beautiful; she was talented, talented to the point of being referred to as a monster.
It seemed strange. When people call such an elegant, well-mannered girl a monster, but after witnessing what she can do, all would agree that there is no other word fit to use in describing her.
When Sapphire first joined the academy, she had a little beef with a senior, causing them to fallout in front of the school, but despite being a year ahead of her, Sapphire beat the living snot out of the senior, though they both took injuries. That was one of the reasons she was considered a monster.
Ever since that incident, no one has tried or questioned sapphire ever again.
"Hm," the instructor clearly thought that Wilder was biting off more than he could chew with this one here.
"Go forth," the head instructor commanded with some excitement in his eyes.
The old man who was seated next to him was a supervisor from their sponsors. He had been pissing the head instructor off for the past few days with his talk of the academy producing trash for the past few years and them wanting to pull funding.
The old man was really annoying, but now it was time for his revenge.
"boom!!"
Like an air cannon, Sapphire blasted away from where she stood towards the steps to heaven, leaving the old man and the crowd stunned.
Before they knew it, she was already on the steps to heaven.
The head instructor couldn't help but smile upon seeing their expressions.
"Wait for it, you old bastard," he snickered in his mind.
That was just the tip of the iceberg. As soon as Sapphire touched the first step, she dashed forth; it didn't even take 5 seconds, and she was already on the second floor.
"That can't be right...."
"No, that's insane."
"Come on, it's sapphire. Do you think mortals like us can understand half of what she can do?"
Voices started echoing in the crowd as they looked on with awe. In the next few seconds that followed, Sapphire cleared step after step, quickly making her way to the 9th level.
"It hasn't been a minute, right?" The Supervisor asked with a bit of a confused expression on his face.
From start to finish, sapphire had not used more than 60 seconds to get to the 9th step to heaven. It was truly astonishing for someone her age and level to do that in under a minute.
"That has to be some record or something, right?" Besides the head instructor, another senior instructor asked while staring intensely as Sapphire made her way through the 9th step.
"I believe so..."
But before he could finish his words, the unexpected happened.
Sapphire made it to the edge of the 9th level and jumped up.
"woah!!" The crowd went wild once again.
She didn't stop at the 9th level, which meant that she had not only gotten to the enhanced human stage, she had been there for a good while.
"Impressive," the Supervisor who was now standing beside the head instructor commented with glee and a small glow in his eyes.
Clearly, he was impressed by Sapphire's display of strength.
Even though the head instructor didn't like the Supervisor, he couldn't lie about the fact that the academy in fact needed their funding and support to stand firm, so seeing the expression on his face gave the head instructor some sort of relief.
He turned back to see that Sapphire had breezed through the 10th, 11th and 13th step and finally climbed to the 14th step and there she stopped.
It was stunning. She had completely amazed everyone in the crowd.
.
.
.
After Sapphire's performance, the people in the crowd could not help but chat among themselves, and the parents of the new intake were also very enthusiastic about the prospects of their kids enrolling in the Warhawk Academy.
If Their children could end up like sapphire; they would quickly rise up the ranks in the military and be able to take care of them.
The power and influence that came from becoming a high ranked military officer was alluring to all
The head instructor was smiling very broadly, sapphire's display was very stunning and she had succeeded in dazzling the crowd, all that happened because of his careful planning. He felt proud
"Okay, okay, now that marks the end of the....." The head instructor rose to speak, but before he could finish his words, a voice resounded from inside the crowd.
"I wish to challenge the steps to heaven."
"Hm?" Looking back, the head instructor frowned.
There was a cadet in second-year uniform standing in the crowd behind him, and he was the one that had just spoken.
This was naturally wilder.
Beside him, instructor James had an ugly expression on his face. Wilder had picked the most unfortunate time to do this; the whole crowd was in a state of celebration and awe, and that was when he decided to speak.
"Wilder sit…" Instructor James tried to make Wilder stop; he didn't know why he was afraid before, but upon confirming that Wilder was still at peak human stage, he regained his confidence, so he had the gall to command Wilder to sit down.
But Wilder just ignored him while staring intensely at the head instructor.
He wasn't just here to prove to the instructor James that he was wrong; he also thought that he at least owed the previous owner of this body. The young man had been ridiculed by his peers ever since he fell from glory, and even though Wilder didn't know him personally, he felt like showing them that he was strong.
But all of those were superficial; the truth was that the system's missions could not be so easily abandoned; finding Arthur was a priority, or else the system would arrange for him to suffer disastrous consequences.
It wasn't the first time it had done it; the last time, Wilder had to go through heaven and hell before he was capable of dismissing the system's missions without suffering reparations, but now that he had accepted to take those missions again, it wouldn't let go of him so easily.
