Wilder stood there in a daze.
This lady was as tall if not taller than Anya, and the sheer power in her hands was incomprehensible. Wilder couldn't even budge as her arms held him in place.
"Don't be too nervous. I'm here to help you." Her voice sounded once more as she slowly loosened her hold on Wilder.
Wilder then turned back to look at her.
She had a lab coat on, a pair of glasses, and pitch black hair hanging on her head, but that was not the most fascinating thing about her.
The most fascinating thing was her humongous set of knockers.
"focus!!" Wilder slapped himself back into his senses.
It was more than weird to stare at a friend's mother so much, and even though Wilder wouldn't consider Liam his friend, the previous owner of this body had to be respected at the very least.
"yes I am mrs…." Wilder maintained constant eye contact with her as he said that
"Lilian," the lady said. While observing Wilder closely
He nodded upon hearing the name, but her eyes were still glued on him, which made him feel weird at the very least.
She then proceeded to turn around and pull a chair over. She turned it around and sat right on it.
"You are trying to get to the enhanced human stage, yes?" She asked casually as her hand moved to a bowl beside her.
In that bowl were a bunch of red apples; she picked one up and munched on it.
"Yes," Wilder said with a slight nod of the head. That was indeed the reason he had been frequenting this training facility so much; he was training his body to be able to get to the 9th level of the steps to heaven so he could attempt to break into the enhanced human stage.
He needed to stay in the special grade class so he could have more interactions with influential military personnel, all because he needed to find the elusive Arthur.
The guy was a ghost or something because even after researching every high-ranking and middle-ranking military personnel in the Blackhawk military, he still couldn't find any traces.
"You are a really hardworking kid, but if you keep going at this pace, you'd probably not meet your deadline at the academy." She was already munching on another apple when she explained this to Wilder.
"ah?" Wilder was shocked. He believed that his routine would eventually allow him to get to the stage, but she was saying otherwise, so he was quite shocked.
Did she know something he didn't?
"Don't act so shocked; getting to the 9th level of the steps to heaven is only a prerequisite to entering the exhaustion phase, but do you know what happens after that stage?" She asked Wilder
Clearly, she knew something he didn't.
"Hm. hm." Wilder shook his head, indicating that he didn't know.
well that couldn't be considered completely true because he had done a lot of research but the information he got was vague at best, apparently the indepth information about getting to stages higher than peak human stage was still being kept from the public by the military and other influential organisations, even in times of struggle like these powerful organizations were still withholding information on power it was deplorable in all honesty, and although he was in the military academy and should have access to that information, he didn't have the memories of the previous owner of this body, so he was still in the dark, he later settled with getting the physical requirements first before approaching the likes of Anya for the info
"First things first, you need to stop skipping classes. I could easily infer that you didn't know what to do from seeing you train. These things are being discussed in class." She turned grim when saying that.
Wilder laughed bitterly He was embarrassed.
It was the normal mother instinct, and Wilder was lucky that she didn't say that he should stop hanging out with Liam outright. He was really being a bad influence by not attending classes, though he had his reasons; she didn't know that.
"After getting to the exhaustion phase, your body becomes weak, but your blood and heart will be working far beyond their limits. The first step is to control your blood and circulate it into your core area, say around here...….." she explained as she pointed to a point on her chest.
This time Wilder didn't get distracted by her taties; his mind was piecing together how similar this seemed to cultivating a life core in the immortal world.
After getting to a certain level in the immortal world, one would cultivate a core of power inside their body that would serve as an unlimited source of physical energy; this seemed very similar to it
But there were a few differences; for example, in the immortal world, they would make their life core with a diluted form of immortal energy called yuan energy, but here they used their blood to form the core.
It was very strange to say the least. Blood could be controlled through veins and arteries, but what she was suggesting was controlling the blood outside of the transportation system. Not only did it sound humanly impossible, if the blood was taken out of the transport system, one could easily die from blood loss.
"If it were simple, every single person in the academy would be an enhanced human, but the risk of death is unavoidable. Let me show you a little something here," she said to Wilder as she reached out and grabbed a thin piece of glass.
It was a tablet.
"Look here, the amount of people that die in this stage far exceeds the amount of people that fail but still manage to survive; the ones that succeed are even fewer." She handed the tablet to Wilder and explained the whole thing to him.
Wilder was in shock as he viewed these statistics. It was just too much to take in at once.
The death rate was high.
"Going to chicken out?" as his mind was enthralled by the data in hand, a voice resounded.
No, no," Wilder shook his head.
He had taken bigger risks in the immortal world, plus he believed the system could find a way for him to circumvent this method.
"Good," she nodded as she went on and explained everything he needed to know about what to do upon getting through the exhaustion phase.
She even gave him some techniques to use and practice with.
"Come over here, I have something you might like." Liam's mother stood up and started walking to the back of the lab.
She reached out her hand and grabbed onto a piece of cloth, pulling it and revealing a magnificent machine.
"Isn't that the speed runner x0x?" Wilder looked stunned as he circled around the machine.
It was a treadmill that could go to inhumane speeds; it wasn't as limited as the one he was using previously, plus it was very sturdy. Even the Blackhawk Academy didn't make it available to students until they got to their third year.
"Yes and no, I made a few modifications; why don't you test it out?" She directed Wilder.
Wilder didn't know why she was being so nice to him, but he wouldn't turn down an opportunity for no good reason.
He got on and started running.
"This is too easy," Liam's mom said as she increased the speed on the machine.
"Woa," said Wilder, trying to maintain his composure as the sudden increase caught him off guard, but after a few seconds he got used to it.
After about 30 seconds
"Ready for the third stage?" Liam's mom's voice resounded once again.
Wilder couldn't say he was struggling at this moment yet, so he nodded.
Every 30 seconds, she would increase the speed; at first, Wilder could cope, but soon it became too much for him to handle.
He was panting and breathing heavily.
"he…. hey" Wilder struggled to speak, but it was clear that he was about to reach his limit.
"next level," but Liam's mom didn't seem to get the hint. She increased the speed once again, but this time a new set of equipment descended in front of the treadmill.
"Dodge as best you can...." She spoke softly, and in the next second,
"Pu," a red beam of light, flew through the air and hit Wilders arm muscle.
"ah!!" He screamed. The sudden pain really caught him off guard, but he understood that slowing down would get him injured
Wilder knew deep down that this training was useful to him, so he endured
