And so Wilder stormed out of the classroom, leaving the instructor stunned.

The instructor had expected for Wilder to at least plead with him to keep on schooling here even though it was in the ordinary grades.

He understood how hard it was for people like Wilder, but he did not expect that Wilder's pride was that big. He stormed out of his class with no hesitation.

"That's not right," the instructor frowned for a few seconds.

He knew Wilder, and he knew that he wouldn't mind groveling when cornered, so for him to behave like this indicated that he might have something up his sleeve.

"It can't be, right?" The instructor said to himself as he tried to put two and two together.

Meanwhile, an angry Wilder made his way out of the classroom and into the main yard of the Blackhawk Academy.

In front of him were two people he was well acquainted with.

It was Liam and Anya.

"Why did instructor James tell you to stay behind?" Liam asked Wilder as soon as he came close enough.

Wilder, who was raging a few minutes ago, adopted a calm and indifferent facial expression.

"He kicked me out of his class," Wilder casually said.

"What?!!" Anya, who had not said anything till now, voiced

"He can't do that even if you had lost; the administration would be the one to decide if the bet was done ethically, and you won the bet." Anya said in a rather harsh tone as her eyes slowly turned from Wilder to the special-grade office.

She was clearly preparing to charge into the place and challenge the instructor.

"Hehe," Wilder chuckled.

The previous owner of this body always seemed to have surprises for him. He was able to inspire such blind loyalty in these guys, it was very impressive.

"There is no need for that; he only said that I can't attend the class; I will still be able to move up once I reach the enhanced human stage; moreover, who says that I have time for his classes?" Wilder calmed her down with a simple explanation.

"Oh," Anya looked a bit disappointed, but she wouldn't have minded going in there to give the instructor a piece of her mind.

"Oh, yea, what level do you need to get to on the steps to heaven to be considered an enhanced human?" Wilder asked casually as he turned to look over at the ladder-like structure on the side of the building.

"Hm? 9th level?" Anya replied swiftly with a confident smile on her face.

She had already made it to the 7th level, meaning that she only needed to put in enough work to get there before the 3rd year graduation.

"Oh, is it really that simple?" Wilder asked with a raised eyebrow.

From what he could see and how much these guys seemed to place importance on the enhanced human stage, it shouldn't be so simple as leaping into a stage.

"Of course not. Don't act like you don't know that after that there is the exhaustion phase," Liam said as he explained.

Apparently, upon passing the challenge on the 9th level of the steps to hell, there was something called an exhaustion phase. The 9th level signified the limits of peak human stage; it was the best someone at peak human stage could be able to accomplish, and once one passed it, they would enter the exhaustion phase.

If you could survive the brief exhaustion phase, then one would then go through certain changes that were the sign of the enhanced human stage, though the chances differed from person to person.

"I see," Wilder said, his eyes glued to the steps to heaven.

"Yeah, the exhaustion phase is quite scary." I heard some people have died at that phase," Anya said while looking at the steps to heaven. Even though she said it was scary, she still gave off the feeling of expectation rather than fear.

She was clearly determined to go through with it.

"hm?" Anya suddenly noticed that Wilder was no longer by their side, prompting her to quickly look around only to see him walking straight for the stairs to heaven.

"Hey, your injuries..." She tried to stop Wilder, but he was already too far along.

,,,,,,,,,,,,

Wilder arrived before the ladder-like structure called the Steps to Heaven and touched it.

After killing the red boar king, his ankles suddenly stopped hurting him the following morning, and he was now filled with unfiltered energy.

Plus, the way the instructor spoke to him pissed him off; he needed an outlet for that anger.

Wilder then proceeded to squat down, and with all the energy he could muster, he jumped up.

"woosh"

Before he knew it, he was already in the air. The power in his muscles was astounding.

On the other side, Anya and Liam watched on with a bit of worry upon seeing Wilder challenge the steps of heaven.

Even though he had made it to warrior rank and had healed his leg, he was still in no condition to be challenging the steps of heaven.

But what could they do? go up there and stop him?

"bang," Wilder landed on the first step and observed

The place was much bigger than it looked from the floor; the floors were painted red, and there seemed to be obstacle course equipment all over the place. It looked easy, but Wilder knew that once he started, it would be a mess, as he would not be given time to observe once he gets to the second level.

*begin

A robotic voice resounded, causing Wilder to start sprinting forward.

Left foot, right foot, Wilder started going through the obstacles one by one.

He went through tires and jumped through robes; it was the basics, but he knew that it would get harder the higher one climbed. Not long after he got to the edge,

Seeing the edge, he increased his speed by jumping onto the wall on the edge and using it to propel himself to the second level.

"bang"

Immediately after landing, he kept on moving; he couldn't stop to observe anything because it was the same as forfeiting.

This was one of the reasons the steps to heaven were so hard, especially for beginners.

Another reason was that because the obstacles would constantly change, it was impossible to cheat or get used to them.

On the ground, Anya and Liam watched Wilder go from level one to level two within a span of a few seconds. They were astounded.

But then again, it was Wilder.

Wilder ran through the obstacles like a train, going from the second to the third and finally to the fourth; it seemed like he was taking a normal jog at some point, even Anya was a bit shocked.

Even though it seemed like his injuries were gone, she knew that it couldn't be that easy to heal, so she had it in the back of her mind that he was injured, which made it worse seeing how easy Wilder was clearing the steps to heaven.

But finally After stepping onto the fifth level, Wilder stopped

*failed

The robotic voice resounded as the screen flashed red, signifying that Wilder had failed.

"Hmm," Wilder took a big breath and looked upwards.

Though it appeared as if the distances between each step kept increasing, he knew that he still had strength in him for scaling to the 6th level, and if he gave it his all, the 7th might not be too far off, but that would probably be his limit.

This body was clearly lacking.

Meanwhile

Inside the special instruction classroom for the second year, the instructor looked at Wilder with some relief.

When he saw Wilder attempting the steps to heaven, his heart skipped a beat, prompting him to observe it.

If Wilder could get to the 6th or 7th level, he would have to admit that he was wrong, which was something he didn't want to do, so he was glad to see Wilder fail.

"Hehe," he turned around to take a sip of a green liquid.

Wilder had been stuck on the 5th level for a very long time. The people who he was previously above had surpassed him; there was no hope for him now.

At least that was what he thought
