Liam lay in the bed, staring at the ceiling as the events of the night replayed in his mind. He couldn't believe it, how crazy it all sounded when he just reimagined the interactions.
"This is fucking crazy. I must be asleep... Nah, I must've drank some weird shit and I'm having a trippy dream right now." Liam laughed a bit as he spoke to himself. Now he was talking to himself like a madman, and he didn't know what to think anymore.
"My childhood crush... Man this is fucking stupid!" He groaned as he flipped himself over, grasping the blanket from his waist to cover his head. A deep sigh left him as he plopped his face into the pillow with his eyes closed. All of this made his head spin. How could his life have gone south so fast? Hadn't it only been a month since he began university?
"Liam?" The soft voice echoed, causing him to jump a bit. His hand pushed the blanket off his face, squinting as the light hit his eyes. He thought the light had been turned on in the bedroom, but it was the sunlight coming through the open window. Liam groaned and sat up on the bed, rubbing his eyes in fatigue.
"Yeah... I'm up." He groaned out as he slowly dragged his hand down his face, stopping it in front of his mouth before gently touching his lips. Would he give his first kiss to Narcia? He groaned and stood up quickly, taking the idea far down his now rabbithole of a brain.
"There's breakfast for you on the table. Nearly everyone else already left." The voice said before Liam swung the door open, meeting a skinny taned girl. Her eyes were bright green, and her hair was a nice brown color that resembled light coffee.
"And who are you..?" Liam asked as she blushed and looked down, grasping her hands together.
"I'm Lola, the pack's female omega. I just came to make sure you were woken up for food." She said before Liam took a step closer, towering by nearly 2 feet above her. He liked how she looked. She seemed to have skin as smooth as a peach. It made him chuckle a bit when she blushed and put a strand of hair behind her ear.
"I'm new to this, so you'll have to explain to me what an omega is. Sorry." Liam said a bit embarrassed, but not as embarrassed as she seemed to be.
"Oh- Oh... Well. An omega is... A weaker member of the pack. They usually don't get involved with fights... Um. I also am seen more as a... hehe. A breading machine by most betas and Alpha's since all omega's have a strong... um... reproductive system. Plus, we are much more sensitive and caring... That's all we're good for, really." She said very uncomfortably, clearly being nervous. Liam felt bad for asking her to answer his question.
"I see, sorry to have asked. I don't think you are a um... breading machine." He said, making her look up at him in surprise. She smiled softly before walking away with a bit of a hop in her step, making Liam smile a bit. He was glad to have cheered her up a bit. It didn't sit right with him to hear her say those awful words about herself. Liam made his way to the kitchen, sitting at the table as he looked in amazement at the meal that was in front of him.
"It's her specialty. Chilaquiles." Narcia said as she leaned against the corner wall of the kitchen that connected to the corridor, arms crossed.
"Lola?"
"Yeah, she's mexican. That's a traditional breakfast there, according to her. Personally, I don't think my breakfast should attack me." She said as Liam chuckled a bit, looking down at the spicy meal before him.
"Shouldn't it be mild? It's a breakfast."
"I don't make the rules. I don't even know if it's originally spicy or not, but she sure makes it that way." Narcia said as Liam took a bite before letting out a shocked whistle. His cheeks getting red from the sudden change in his mouth.
"I think I see what you mean now, wow. I definitely feel attacked." He said, making Narcia chuckle a bit before uncrossing her arms and walking closer.
"Dont. Dont come near me." Liam said firmly, stopping her in her track. Her face quickly turned to sadness, but she remained quiet.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
"You didn't, I just... Don't want to be near you for now. I want a clear head to think I can't have that when you are too close." He said as she nodded in understanding, knowing he was right. Having your future mate close did have an affect on your thoughts and feelings as they would shift towards your future beloved. At that moment, the front door opened. Matheo and Devan walked in, looking exhausted. Liam immediately stood up in surprise, watching the two boys wobble inside the house.
"Ah man... I'm so exhausted." Matheo said before Narcia growled, quickly stepping in front of Liam.
"What the hell is this!?" She said as Liam frowned and moved Narcia out of his way. Matheo chuckled and shrugged.
"That's Devan. He used to go to our university but left after his father pulled him out of it. Liam and him used to be good friends, right?" He said before Liam's face became dark with anger.
"Yeah, I remember this disgusting monster. We aren't friends at all anymore." Liam said with bitterness, making Devan look away in sadness. They hadn't parted ways very well after all.
"That fucking cannibal killed some of ours! How dare you bring him here!" Narcia said as she furiously walked towards Devan, Matheo quickly placing himself in front of Devan.
"Look, Devan was only defending himself when we attacked him. And we have been speaking while making our way over here. He never meant to harm Liam." Matheo said before Liam frowned and decided to storm at them, Narcia barely catching him as he tried to swing at Devan.
"Bastard! You nearly broke me in half against a tree! Don't fucking lie to Matheo! You were holding me hostage for some twisted plan!" Liam yelled before Devan sighed and crossed his arms.
"No, I saw you collapse while at school and brought you to my house. You were the one who freaked out and attempted to flee in an unknown forest alone. I just... I lost my temper and ended up hurting you. I felt very bad, you know." Devan said as Liam glared at him, Narcia doing the same before Matheo intervened.
"He knows all about his father's plan and whereabouts. He said he would help us in exchange for my help. He never ate any of us! That grave robbery was his father's doing." Matheo said, making both Liam and Narcia stop glaring. They both stood straight and watched as the man nodded.
"I want to help, I always had wanted to. I also know what my father wants to do in the end." Devan said before Narcia huffed and walked towards the kitchen, making herself a glass of water.
"You're a cannibal though, just like your father. Why should we trust you?" Liam said as Matheo groaned and walked up to Liam.
"He was born like this. It wasn't his choice to be this way. Give him a chance, man." Matheo whispered to Liam. The boy groaned but ultimately agreed, making Matheo smile. He signaled Devan to follow him upstairs, giggling a bit as Narcia growled.
"What are you growling at him for? If anything is fake, it's not Matheo's fault, you know." Liam said before Narcia shook her head.
"That gay son of a bitch will be the end of us. I wished he just didn't listen to his lower head before his bigger one." She angrily said, causing Liam to burst into laughter. Narcia didn't find it as funny and pouted at him.
"You're being too harsh on him. He just wants to believe that there's good in that cannibal."
"I just think he wants to get laid."
"Come on, guys don't only think with their dicks. Plus, he's still a virgin, so I doubt that's what drives him." Liam said calmly, Narcia blushing as she looked at her mate in shock.
"He's still a virgin!? How the hell do you know that?"
"He told me once, though he might get mad at me for telling you." Liam said before she rolled her eyes, putting her empty glass of water back into the cupboards. She walked over to the table and cleaned up Liam's empty dishes before sitting on a couch to watch television. Liam simply stood there for a while before sitting on the couch that was across the room, making Narcia sigh quietly.
-
"You didn't have to defend me that hard. I could have done it myself." Devan said as Matheo opened the door to his room.
"I don't think it would have been as effective. You did attack him, and Liam is Narcia's mate, so she despises you." Matheo said as he got inside his room, letting Devan walk in as well before closing the door. Devan looked at the room in amazement. Everything was so clean and organized.
"I like your room, it's very nice." Devan mentioned as he looked around, Matheo immediately blushed before pouting at Devan, who simply smiled. He didn't know what Devan found about his room that was worthy of liking. The walls were indigo blue, most of his furniture was black or white along with the few decorations he had. It wasn't very special.
"We're not here to admire this boring room. Come here, I have something to show you." Matheo said as he opened a chest, pulling out a book that seemed to be written in a mysterious language.
"What is that?"
"A grimoire... Also known as an old magic book. It contains spells, potions, and even curses. But it also has like, informative pages about our kinds. This should help us figure out how exactly we can turn you back to normal." Matheo said with a smile that made Devan's heart race a bit.
"So... Do you know how to read this?"
"Not really. I mean, I learned the alphabet of it when I was a kid. It belonged to a cousin of mine, my father's brother married a witch so he was banned from the pack. That was back when packs couldn't mix with other species. But times have changed, though many packs still abide by those rules. She taught me the alphabet, and when she died, her daughter gave me the book." Matheo said before he felt a warm hand on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry for your loss." Devan said as Matheo's eyes grew slightly wider than before. No one aside from Narcia and Tammy had given him condolences regarding the subject. It made his heart all fuzzy inside.
"Thank you, but it happened a long time ago. Anyways, let's see what we can figure out about this." Matheo said as he blew the dust off of the cover, opening the large majestic book on the floor. The pages had browned from age, and some of them had also been shredded for confidentiality. Matheo stopped on the page regarding cannibals. Horrific drawings were drawn all over the page. It made Matheo sick for a moment. Some of them were very gruesome.
"Are you alright, mate?" Devan asked in concern, gently putting his hand on top of Matheo's, who blinked in confusion.
"Mate?"
"Yeah?" Devan answered, confused, not understanding that americans did not speak of each other as mates like the British did.
"I-Im sorry?"
"Oh... I meant it as in 'man', we address each other as mates in Britain." Devan said before Matheo's eyes grew wide and his cheeks redded.
"Oh, fuck. I'm sorry, I didn't know that." Matheo said in embarrassment, Devan couldn't help but chuckle at his behavior. Matheo shooed his embarrassment away and quickly started to attempt translating the book. Devan stood there, watching as Matheo's finger slowly slid along the pages. He slowly dragged his eyes along Matheo's arm, it looked quite muscular yet slender. He liked it a lot, Matheo did match his type. With his pearly blue eyes and his curly dirty blond hair, not even mentionning the sharp jaw with the beauty mark under his lip. He liked his appearance a lot, which only added to his already great personality. Before he knew it, Matheo had stopped reading. In fact, Matheo was staring right back at Devan.
"What?" Devan asked as Matheo looked at him with what seemed like confusion.
"You were the one staring, dude." Matheo said with a shrug, trying to play it off as cool despite being flustered.
"I wasn't staring-"
"I think I know how to help you... But I don't know if you'll like the answer." Matheo cut him off before Devan frowned. What could he possibly have to do that would be hard to explain?
"Well, go on with it." Devan said before Matheo sighed, pointing at the book.
"It says here that a born cannibal can revert back to normal and reanimate itself by consuming enough DNA from a living shifter, or it's mate." Matheo said before he heard a sharp take of air.
"What does it mean by DNA..?"
"Well, I am not sure what it means. In this case, I don't think it would mean eating a living shifter because it says that you must have never consumed shifters. I'm thinking here that the only way to get DNA in a non harmful way would be through saliva... or well, um... I suppose genital ejaculation... that works for both sex!" He quickly corrected himself, not wanting to sound like a weirdo who wanted sexual pleasure out of this.
"So, in theory. If I sucked you off..."
"Oh my god! Please. I do not want to talk about this." Matheo said, all embarrassed as he slammed the book shut, quickly attempting to leave before his arm was caught.
"I could just kiss you. I didn't mean to frighten you." Devan said in a soft tone, making Matheo a little calmer than he was seconds ago.
"U-um... There's also risks involved into this... eh... but the words were scribbled. I couldn't quite read what it said..."
"Then we should find a witch who knows of this. That way, we can figure out what the dangers involved are." Devan said as he let go and started to walk towards the door.
"D-Devan..?" Matheo said, gulping loudly as Devan turned around to face him.
"Hmm?"
"Why did you want to use me for the DNA?" Matheo asked a bit confused, frowning when Devan chuckled a bit.
"Nothing in particular, really. You're trying to help, so in some way, I figured you'd be my best chance to ask rather than try it on some random shifter..." Devan said as Matheo seemed to sadden a bit before nodding in understanding.
"I understand. I will try to help if I can." He said before Devan smiled.
"I also had another reason." Devan said as Matheo looked up at him with sad eyes.
"I like you."
