She dragged her fingers along the walls, small debris fell as her skin rubbed off the material, no signs indicated that the wall had a secret passage, there was no draft, no leveling difference, nothing.

"It seems it's a dead end for this wall, too." Narcia yelled across the grand, dusty room. Her voice carried along the walls and bounced around the boxes and books. It echoed perfectly to Liam's ear, only pushing down a shiver in his back.

It was quite the setback for him, hearing it again and again throughout this godforsaken maze, echoes upon echoes of negative response.

Narcia hadn't elaborated enough on how this place was, twisting and stretching more and more down the line, corridors that never ended, or even dead ends where you would not expect it.

"I need a break, this too much." Liam replied back to her, his voice faintly husky from the exhaustion, back to back walking between rows had cause his back to grow sore and his feet to warm up, even his hands were begining to tingle from the constant rubbing against cement.

"Alright, I have water. Let's meet in the middle and take a break." She sympathized out, knowing her legs couldn't take much more of this either, the constant use of her muscle was not something she was used to, not in this manner at least.

On top of that, the hour was late.

"This is ridiculous! I knew this place looked big when we came in, but it's like a maze, there's corridors, rooms... I think I even saw a trap door down in the east side. Man... I can't even see the entrance door anymore." Liam groaned out, grasping onto the bottle with a firm grip, his patience was at a breaking point.

Narcia completely understood his frustration, rounds around this area was nightmarish, it did used to be a torture room back in the days where prisoners would be put in the room with the hope of an exit, the door would be bolted and they would be left to their own despair.

"Let's just rest, it's clear we aren't getting out until morning. I need that document tomorrow anyway so I will deal with it in the morning." She grumbled under her breath as she passed her hands like a brush through her hair, a thing she had grown up doing when anxious, anyone would be stressed in this situation to be fair.

...

Hours had already scampered away through the night, they had no idea what to do anymore as sleep refused to join them, no position was comfortable enough to allow slumber to overtake them.

"Battery low." Liam's phone echoed in the room, the flashlight dimming in an attempt to salvage as much battery as it could.

"How much does your phone have left?" Narcia asked as Liam grabbed his phone, fingers trembling a bit as he lifted the device, turning it so the screen faced him.

"10 percent left... That won't last more than an hour with the flashlight on." Liam declared, Narcia clicking her tongue in annoyance, the fear of being stuck in the dark for hours now slowly creaping in.

They had so little time now, light was going to fade eventually, and there was nothing Narcia could do to protect her mate from his fear of the dark.

"Is it me... Or it's getting colder too?" She whispered, bringing her trembling hands along her arms, the friction bringing some sense back to her skin.

Liam glanced over, eyes scanning every inch of her small figure, he could tell that despite being very slim, Narcia had wonderful curvature.

"I'm not cold, it might be just you." Liam said as he scooted closer, gently taking a hold of her arm, his eyes widening as he felt the difference in body temperature.

"You're freezing!" He said as he got closer, taking off his shirt to Narcia's greated surprise.

"L-Liam! What are you—"

He didn't let her finish the sentence, gently pulling her into his arms.

Her face reddened as he gently placed his hand behind her head, presing her to lay against him calmly, and intimately.

Her heart pounded like it's life depended on it, blood thumping in her ears as he sighed, relaxing into the position they were now in.

"Y-You didn't have to do that..."

"You risk getting sick, or even worst. I can't let that sit on my conscience, not when I am this freaking warm to begin with." Liam told her with an expression that said it all, compassion and worry was written in his eyes.

Liam gently covered her with his shirt as they lay there on the floor, backed against a shelf, the silence was almost louder than before now.

She couldn't hold herself steady, being so close to her mate was driving ideas to her head, heart and lower areas.

It was getting on his nerves, sll this shuffling was causing him problems.

"Narcia, stop wiggling."

"I'm sorry... I can't help it." She mumbled as she put her hand down to try and shift herself more comfortably.

It gently slid down his abs, positioning itself atop what she wish she hadn't felt.

Both blushed as he looked away with a groan, the bulge pulsing in her palm at the same time while radiating heat, it was driving her crazy.

"A-Are you okay?" She asked after quickly pulling her hand away, the feeling of his warm, hard member still vivid in her mind.

"I am now..." He said in a mocking tone, reminding her of how inappropriate her action was though it had not been intentional.

She bit her lower lip, feeling the heat growing between her legs, her wolf begging her to lock their bond now and forever.

"Now is not the time..." She whispered angrily to her wolf, making Liam frown as he looked down at her.

"What did you say?"

"O-oh... I didn't mean to say it outloud. My wolf is acting stupid." She whined, making Liam chuckly and cock an eyebrow, wondering what her wolf could have told her.

Wiggling her self a bit more, she found a position where his hardenned member did not constantly pocked at her while also being in a position that seemed to be much more comfortable for Liam.

"I think I should be able to sleep like this... If that's okay with you." She mumbled as she nuzzled closer to his chest, purring at the sensation.

"Sure, I don't mind." He said as he closed his flashlight to save some battery, keeping her's close as it was the only source of light around.

It wasn't long before she fell prey to her tiredness and submitted her mind to a peaceful sleep.

Something warm caressed Devan's cheek, making him frown as he slowly opened his eyes, nothing but a blur was shown to him.

"Devan..? Are you awake?" A tired Matheo asked, a warm feeling rushed through him asa hand passed through the tired boy's hair.

Devan could tell it was Matheo's hand that moved the wet strands out of his face, but from the sound of it, Matheo wasn't okay himself.

"Are you alright..?" Devan questioned, trying to move himself on the uncomfortable surface he lay on.

"Mmh hmm."

The vague response made Devan worry, but he decided against pushing for the answer to that question.

"Where are we..?"

"In a hotel... I couldn't drag you very far. I'm sorry it's shit." Matheo admitted with guilt stained words, it didn't sit right with Devan who slowly sat up, his back not appreciating the sudden movement.

It took a few eye batting and rubbing to clear his vision, he soon wished he hadn't.

Matheo stood by his bed, eyes heavy with fatigue, forehead drenched in what he could only imagine was sweat.

On top of that, Matheo was still covered in his dried blood, clothes still half soaked in it.

"You worried me... I couldn't find a pulse... Despite you breathing."

This caught Devan by surprise, but he soon shook his head.

"I don't have a heartbeat to begin with." Devan commented, eyes falling to the floor as Matheo's face contorted into what he could only describe as confusion with a hint of pity.

"That's not true... I did eventually find it." Matheo mumbled, making Devan frown, there was just no way he had found a heartbeat, his heart was dead from the moment he was conceived, it never lived.

"You don't have to try and comfort me. I never had a heart beat in my entire 26 years of living... if you can even call it that." Devan stated, making Matheo glare in anger, this sudden switch of mood displeased Devan.

"I know what I felt! I'm not crazy."

"And I'm telling you that a cannibal's heart never beats from the day they are turned into one. That is especially true if your born that way." Devan called out, his tone now raised in annoyance, he didn't like Matheo arguing with him.

"Touch your neck then and tell me I'm fucking wrong."

Devan rolled his eyes, humoring his request as he raised two fingers to his jugular vein and waited.

He waited, but nothing came.

"See, I told you I don't have pul—"

Ba-dump.

Devan's breath hitched in his throat, saliva filling his mouth before he gulped.

Had he imagined it?

Ba-dump.

No, it was definitely a pulse just now, he couldn't believe what his fingers were feeling.

Sure, the beat was very slow and weak, but it was still there.

"How is that even possible..?" Devan asked in pure shock, barely believing that his body was pumping blood through him.

"Well... you did drink my blood."

Devan frowned, he had not taken a single gulp of the wolf's blood, he had made sure to leave him unharmed.

Unless.

The blood he had licked off Matheo, that had to be it, despite how little he had consumed, it still had affected his condition.

"I see, I apologise for that." Devan managed to utter, his face displaying guilt.

"I wanted you to, if you died knowing I could have helped... I don't think I would have been able to forgive myself." Matheo said as he rubbed the back of his neck, making Devan chuckle.

"You would have to be the only person I've had in my life that cared to this extent." Devan managed to spill out, his throat being overwhelmed with a knot.

Matheo blushed a bit and sighed, it was clear that he felt sympathy for Devan, which was something he wasn't used to be given.

Devan slowly moved closer, cupping Matheo's cheek with an expression that could only be described as gratitude.

"Thank you, little wolf." Devan said before kissing Matheo's cheek, the boy blushed with a redness like none before.

"D-Devan! What are you—" Matheo quickly started before Devan put a finger on his lips, a deep chuckle escaping his lips.

"Take it as me thanking you." Devan said with a wink, making Matheo's inside want to melt.

The poor wolf did not know how much longer of this flirting he could take, his body was already reacting to it.

A whimper left him, to which he smacked his hand on his lips in shock, a quick chuckle from Devan followed his action.

"You can be very cute, you know that?"

"Please stop..."

"Or what? I can tell by your hard bulge down there that you like it." Devan teased, making Matheo fume in embarrassment.

"DEVAN FOR FUCK SAKES!" He yelled, pushing the mans face in a swift move, causing the cannibal to fall back on the bed, the poor embarrassed boy covered his face as he turned to face the wall.

"I retract what I said, you're fucking adorable."

"God I hate you!" Matheo yelled as he looked back at Devan with teary eyes, shock first showed on Devan's face before worry appeared and maybe even a bit of guilt.

"I didn't mean to upset you..."

"I-Im not... I just... I'm not used to this, it's too much. I can't handle it." Matheo said as Devan sighed in relief, his face relaxing into a neutral expression, it relieved Matheo.

"I'll be gentler next time then~" He cooed, making Matheo groan, giving a good punch on the flirty man's shoulder.

This man was the bane of his existence.
