His eyes opened, confusion filling his mind as he glanced around the room, it was unfamiliar to him, however, Liam did not care and slowly shut his eyes to try and return to his slumber.
He groaned as a knock on the door awakened him again, he didn't know who was knocking at such an early hour, the only way to find out was to get up, but the covers simply were too comfortable at the moment.
The knock resonated another time but slightly louder, having no other choice, Liam pulled the covers off and pulled himself up, his feet dragging behind as he made his way to the door, he was surprised at who stood behind it.
"Hey... Sorry to have woken you, mate. Do you have a minute?"
Liam frowned as he looked at Devan, he didn't know how he was here considering his hospital situation.
"Devan..? How.. How did you get here? Shouldn't you be at the hospital?" Liam expressed in surprise, anger boiling up at the back of his throat, knowing how reckless this was.
"I don't have much time. Just let me talk to you real quick." Devan said as he tried to walk in, being blocked by Liam with an angry expression.
"Do you know how worried Matheo is!? You should be going to him not me!"
"You don't understand. I'm here for you, there's something you need to know." Devan said as Liam jaw tightened, his anger getting worst by the second.
"Listen, I did not just fucking fight Narcia for you! Get your ass to Matheo now!" Liam said before a claw dashed from the dark, gripping his throat tightly.
"Please... I need to tell you about—"
...
A sudden shaking of his shoulders woke Liam, a frown crossing his features as he opened his eyes.
His breath was erratic, sweat profusely coming out of his forehead, making him wipe it off quickly.
"Were you having a nightmare?" Narcia asked as Liam took in the view, they were still sitting in the waiting room at the hospital while waiting on information from the doctors.
"I think so, I must've dozed off..." Liam said as he sat up more straight, rubbing the back of his neck in confusion.
"I heard you mumble Devan's name... You sure you're alright?" Narcia said as she gently rubbed Liam's back while the boy pushed hair out of his face, laying his forehead in his palm.
"Anything new since I fell asleep?" Liam asked to try and change the sunject as he heard her sigh, probably because he had avoided her question.
He didn't understand what he had dreamt to begin with, there had to be a meaning to it.
"Doctors said that he has stabilized, they got Matheo in the room earlier to start infusing blood into him again." She told him before Liam nodded, rubbing his face in worry, wondering just how grim the situation was in the room.
Liam pushed his hands back, dragging his hair along with a sigh as he leaned on his knees, how did things grow out of proportion so quickly?
What also worried the boy, was that dream he had, as much as he tried to remember, the dream still seemed to stop at Devan trying to tell him something.
He scratched the back of his head, slowly standing up with a stretch, his muscles were quite sore from having yet to recover from sleeping on the floor the night before.
He made his way towards the vending machine he saw at the end of the wall, each step felt heavy with a feeling he couldn't describe.
He wanted to know what Devan had to say.
"He's awake! Guys he's awake!" Liam suddenly heard down the way he had come from, looking back to see Matheo by Narcia with a huge smile, it reassured him to know Devan had regained consciousness.
He pulled out some change and slowly inserted the coins into the slot, gently pressing the buttons for a canned coffee.
He leaned his head against the cold window, watching the arm grabbing the can and quickly sliding it down to the pick up door.
Pushing the seal off, Liam picked up the can, grasping the clip and pulling it up with a pop, indicating it had been opened.
"Liam! Liam!" Matheo yelled as he wobbled his way to him, the boy gulping down the bitter coffee from the cheap can.
"I heard you, I'm glad he's awake." Liam responded, wiping his mouth with his sleeve, seeing Matheo smile a bit.
"I was so worried, but the doctors say he will make it just fine. I just have to give him blood from time to time." Matheo said, blushing a bit as he looked at the floor, making Liam roll his eyes.
"Is he going to a room now?" Liam asked, Matheo nodding quickly before eyeing the can he held.
"May I have some?" Matheo said with an innocent expression, clear dark circles under the boy's eyes.
Liam nodded and passed over the half empty can, watching Matheo down it in one go, pulling his tongue out in disgust.
"Oh, that is bitter! Yuck!" Matheo said as Liam chuckled, shaking his head as Matheo tossed the empty can into the trash, before making their way to Narcia who stood at the end of the hall.
"They said he would be placed on the 5th floor, his room is 504." Narcia said as Matheo nodded, picking up his phone that sat on the chair before they started walking towards the elevator.
The tension between Narcia and Matheo was getting heavier with each step they took, Liam didn't like having to be standing in this heavy air.
"It's good that Devan is getting a room, he'll be better soon enough!" He tried to say cheerfully, seeing the opposite expression of what he wanted to see on Matheo's face.
"We wouldn't be here if a certain someone could control herself."
"I already said I am sorry! What else do you want me to say!? I won't be taking responsibility for my wolf's doing!" Narcia growled out as they arrived by the elevator, Matheo slowly pressing the button to go up.
"Oh? So you're blaming your wolf now for the hatred you have over Devan?"
"Look, I have every right to hate him, but this isn't what this is about."
"Oh it is, your just a cunt if you think you can get away with putting blame on your wolf."
"Matheo. Watch your mouth, you know my wolf is very hard headed. Sometimes she acts on her own!"
"I think you're too weak to fight her stronger will. And if that's the case, maybe you're not fit to be our alpha!"
Silence ensued as the elevator dinged, the doors slowly opening as Narcia looked in shock at Matheo who simply walked into the elevator, pulling Liam along.
"How about you go back to town. You have better things to do than worry about a monster, right?" Matheo said as he pressed the button to shut the door, Narcia's expression turning sad as the door shut.
The elevator slowly started heading up towards the 5th floor, making some tremors from time to time.
"That was uncalled for Matheo." Liam said as he crossed his arms, as much he agreed that it wasn't okay what Narcia's wolf had done, she seemed to regret it a lot, it also looked like her wolf was a little more independent than others and didn'tobey her fully.
"I know... I feel bad about it. But like... I don't know why, my mouth just ran on it's own." Matheo said with a sigh as he rubbed the back of his neck, the door of the elevator opening up.
They both walked out, the silence now heavy as they walked down the grey hall, some screams could be heard down the hall.
"I hate hospitals..." Matheo mumbled, Liam nodded as they stopped in front of the door, both stood there with immense discomfort.
One felt guilty for having put the other in danger, having brought Devan to the pack territory had been the reason he had gone through all of this.
Liam felt uncomfortable for both the fact that Devan had apeared in his dream, but also because there had been nothing Liam could've done to help the cannibal.
"Let's walk in." Liam said, grasping the handle and pushing it down, seeing Matheo gulp as they made their way inside, both sighing in relief as they saw the man asleep in the bed.
They both walked slowly into the room, Liam coming towards the window as Matheo went as close as he could to Devan, sitting down in the leather chair.
Devan already seemed to have gained some colors in his skin, it was clear that Matheo's blood was working wonders on the cannibal.
"His lips are redder..." Matheo mumbled with a smile, a bit of a grimace appeared on Liam's face, quickly passing a hand through his hair to try and brush the comment off.
Matheo's hand lifted hitself, gently passing through the man's hair, Liam frowned as he saw the look in Matheo's eyes.
He had never seen someone look at another person so endearingly, it almost felt like Matheo was alone in the room with Devan.
"I will leave you two be, you have my number if you need me." Liam said, receiving a weak confirmation nod from Matheo as the wolf took the cannibal's hand in a gentle manner, holding it soflty.
Liam walked out of the room and shut the door, smiling a bit.
-
He couldn't open his eyes, feeling the mattress that lay bellow him told him that he was definitely in a room, but he couldn't tell where he was at the moment as his eyes were still too heavy to open.
"I was so scared to lose you..." A soft voice echoed, making the man frown a bit.
Who would ever be afraid to lose him? He had never been liked, his own father had tried to use him for as long as he could remember, not to mention his mother, who his father said had abandoned him out of disgust.
"You look so much better already, I wish you would just wake up already." The voice said as the noise of someone shuffling echoed to his ears.
He knew the person was close to him, he could feel his hand being held by them, he simply couldn't remember who this voice belonged to.
The person gently took a hold of his cheek, a warm breath pushed on his lips, making his heart race.
Just how close was this guy from his face?
He slowly opened his eyes just as their lips met, eyes widening as he immediately recognized who was kissing him.
He shut his eyes quickly, lifting his hand to pull their head closer to him, lips parting for a moment before another kiss followed.
"Matheo..." Devan breathed out between kisses, making the boy smile as they pulled away, eyes tearing up in joy.
"You're a jerk for making me fear for your ass so much." Matheo whimpered out as he leaned into Devan's touch, making the man smile a bit in guilt.
"I apologize, I promise it wasn't my intention. I didn't have enough time to stop or even avoid her..." Devan said as the wolf sighed, looking toward the window with a blush.
"Sorry I kissed you... I... I was afraid I'd never get another chance." Matheo said as he covered his eyes in shame, groaning as Devan chuckled.
He liked seeing the wolf in such a battle with himself, it felt like he was finally having a proper beginning with someone he genuinely liked.
His father had tried for so long to get him to like a kitsune, at one point, he had even tried to give him a beta one, a male at that.
His father had realized for only a short time that Devan didn't want a woman, but he needed his son to have children, therefore he had given him a lower species male kitsune that could let him father children.
Devan just never had been comfortable forcing a poor beta male, Devan didn't want to induce the poor kitsune's body to shift for him.
Claiming one as a male himself would have had the reproductive system to change for their mate, and therefore, a female reproductive system would have formed for Devan to breed the male.
Not that he had accepted him, and following the extinction of kitsunes, his father had returned to wanting him to at least play with women shifters.
He grimaced at the thought, making Matheo frown in confusion, gently caressing Devan's cheek to try and reassure the man.
"Is something the matter? You made a weird expression." Matheo asked, eyebrows furrowed as Devan shook his head.
"No, I was just thinking of something of my past. How are you feeling..? I know they gave me a good amount of your blood."
"I'm okay, don't worry about me." Matheo said with a smile, a small throb in his chest indicated how much it meant to hear he was okay.
Devan pulled Matheo closer, kissing him softly as his hand gripped the back of the wolf, a groan muffled between their lips before Matheo moaned.
Taking this opportunity, Devan sneaked his tongue into his mouth, Matheo melting into the deepened kiss, gripping Devan's hair in pleasure.
He would talk to Matheo later regarding the both of them, for now, he just wanted to keep this pleasure going for as long as life would allow them to.
