Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 - Missing posters

The week went by without incidents. Liam had kept his word and followed Narcia wherever he could. It was now the end of Friday. She turned towards him with a warm smile and thanked him for bringing her all the way to her dorm. It was nice to see so much progress between them in such a short time, even if she didn't deserve it.

"I'll see you Monday?" She asked as she opened the door, looking back at him.

"6 am sharp, yeah. I will be there." Liam said with a calm expression before he walked away towards his own dorm for the weekend.

Narcia sighed and closed the door behind herself, making her way to her room. She needed to speak about the missing wolf from her ex's pack. It couldn't bode well.

Narcia: Matt, Tammy, get yourself ready. We are going home for the weekend.

Matt: Hell yeah! I miss Luna's cooking.

Tam: Now is not the time, Matheo. I assume this is regarding the missing posters?

Narcia: Yes, Tammy. We need to make sure of what cause this disappearance is from. But matheo, you aren't coming. I need you to keep an eye on Liam. We don't know what could be lurking.

Matt: Aww, man! Alright, alpha. I'll keep an eye out for him.

Narcia closed the mental link and sighed. She didn't really want to investigate this, but she had no other choice. If the cannibal was at it again, her mate could be in danger. She didn't know why the creature had taken a liking to him. He was harmless to such a creature, a weak human.

"You seem in a hurry to leave, little wolf." Giuliana said as she bit into her sandwich, legs crossed with an attitude that screamed power.

"This doesn't involve you, witch."

"Oh, but it sure does. I have noticed a little pup went missing. Such a tragedy." She said with no emotion in her tone. Narcia growled and glared to the heartless woman.

"You already assume he is dead. You're disgusting."

"And you don't? He's been missing for a whole week now. People don't disappear for over a week and turn up alive." Giuliana said with a serious expression. Narcia wanted to yell at her, to tell her she was wrong, but she knew all too well that she was most likely correct. People were usually found dead after a week of disappearance.

"You know... If I remember correctly, Adrian was a human too, wasn't he? His wolf was stolen by a witch years ago when he was just a child." Giuliana said before Narcia twisted around with anger.

"How in gods name do you know that?"

"Oh sweetheart, you think I wouldn't know of my coven's past doings? Please." She said with a roll of her eyes as she munched on her sandwich.

"What the hell are you telling me this for? If I am right, your entire coven was wiped out almost 11 years ago for it. You're but a weak remain of that poweful coven." Narcia said before her throat suddenly felt grabbed, Giuliana having her free hand up and glowing. Narcia tried to gasp as she was slowly being strangled.

"Watch your mouth, little wolf. I am still powerful enough to seriously damage you if not kill you." Giuliana said before letting her go, standing up to walk out of the dorm. Narcia smirked while gasping for air as the door shut. This definitely was a victory against the witch. Narcia quickly made her way inside her dorm, closing the door behind herself.

"Took you long enough. Is everything alright?" Tammy said as she threw a bag at Narcia. Narcia caught it and smiled at her friend before turning on her heels.

"Thanks, Tam. I am alright. We don't have much time, so let's get going. My parents will be going for the monthly patrol of our forests soon. We won't see them for a long time if we don't catch them before they leave." Narcia said, receiving a nod from her fellow wolf before they ran out of the building. They quickly turned into their wolves once they arrived in the forest.

"Man! This weekend is gonna be boring..." Matheo whined as he fell onto his bed. Liam walked in seconds later, shutting the door and locking it.

"Why?"

"Why!? Because all the pretty ladies are going to the party and we are stuck here!" Matheo whined before he noticed Liam's confusion.

"You mean the party at the old campus? I don't think we are missing out much..." Liam said before Matheo gasped and stood up quickly, grabbing Liam's shoulders.

"Buddy! You may have not heard, but Silviano is in charge of it. The guy may be a violent dick head, but he sure knows how to throw sick parties!" Matheo said in excitement. Now, if it had been anyone elses throwing the party, Liam would have gone, but this was too risky knowing the promise he had made to Narcia.

"I can't go, I promised Narcia I wouldn't fight Silviano."

"You can go without fighting, man..."

"I might be able to. I don't think he will." He said before Matheo sighed, understanding where Liam was coming from.

"What if I stayed around you? Then I could mediate." Matheo offered, making Liam sigh deeply. He knew this was just overall a bad idea. He had read and seen movies go horribly wrong even with the help of someone else.

"Sorry, Matheo. It's a no for me, I don't want to have to live through one of those cliché scenarios where I go party, and it goes wrong... Maybe next time." Liam said, causing Matheo to groan and plop on the bed. He knew his friend was right. It was for the best.

"Tch, it's your lost, man. I ain't missing that dude's party. Especially guy made parties, they are just so much more powerful than a woman's!" Matheo said before getting a confused look from Liam.

"What do you mean by that?" Liam asked.

"Well, you have never been to parties before, so you wouldn't know. But a man will have lots of booze, arm wrestling contests sometimes happen, or drinking ones, a lot more violent too. Like fights break out way more than women's parties. The music will be like old music hits. Girls just, they drink spiked punch, listen to todays hits... It's kinda boring, you know?" Matheo said as he stood up and grabbed his coat before throwing a ball of paper at Liam.

"The hell is that?"

"It's my phone number in case something happens, just hit me up, and I'll come running." Matheo said before leaving the room.

Liam opened the note and marked down the number in his contacts with a smile.

Narcia howled as she arrived on their pack's land, fellow wolf guards howling in unison to welcome the future alpha back. Tammy shook her head as she caught up, wagging her tail as the men sniffed in her direction with happiness, enjoying her female pheromones. They both ran to the house and shifted back into their human form, taking their clothes from the bags they brought before changing.

"They were totally checking you out." Narcia chuckled out as Tammy rolled her eyes.

"And!? I don't have a mate yet, so what's the harm in entertainment coming from other men, huh?" Tammy said with a pout before Narcia shook her head with a laugh, gently opening the door to her house.

"Welcome back, sweetie!" Narcia's mother, Mary, exclaimed upon seeing her walk inside the house.

"Thanks mom, how's it been?"

"Pretty good, your dad has managed to reinforce our security since that incident. We and the pack are much safer now." Mary said, full of pride at her mate's accomplishment.

"That's good to hear, look, about the pack. Has anyone noticed anything... well, strange?" Narcia asked only to receive a confused look from the Luna.

"No, not from what I know."

"Nothing at all? Like no different smells or... Someone acting... Well, I don't know... Like traitorous?" Tammy followed, making Mary frown in concern.

"Oh god no, I've heard nothing of the sort, but I am not in charge of rumors and gossip around here. That would be Daugthela. She would know if anything is going on around here or nearby towns." Mary said before giving her daughter a warm kiss on the head. Narcia sighed and rolled her eyes, not too pleased with having to meet up with the crazy voodoo loving woman of the pack. None the less, she quickly made her way to her. There was bound to be something useful out of talking to that woman.

Liam sighed as he leaned back on his bed, trying to figure out what movie he wanted to watch. Matheo was right. This was pretty boring. He finally managed to settle on some old movie he had always wanted to watch. One he had heard was even banned in a few countries.

"Holy shit!" Liam exclaimed as he looked at the movie duration. The movie was almost 4 hours long. How could he ever sit through 4 hours of screening? Before he could press play, a soft knock echoed on the door, making Liam frown. It couldn't be Matheo as he had only left an hour or so ago for the party. Maybe he had forgotten something? Or maybe the party did suck in the end, and he had come back. Liam slowly stood up from the bed, walking over to the door. He was surprised by who stood behind it when he opened it.

"I figured you wouldn't be the type to go to parties." Giuliana said as she curled a hair strand around her finger, receiving nothing but an unbothered look. There was a silence between them, butterflies crawled into his gut. He wasn't sure if he liked the sensation.

"Yeah... I have never gone to one, so I can't say if I am or not." Liam said as she giggled with a hand on her lips. It made Liam's heart throb. Why was she causing these feelings in him?

"Well, maybe we can change that at some point. I have a good connection to people who make good parties." She said with a smile before silence fell again. He was starting to grow impatient with this girl since she was clearly turning running around the bowl.

"Is that all you have to say?" Liam said, starting to look annoyed as he really wanted to start this marathon of a movie.

"Well, actually... I kinda was hoping a strong looking guy could help me get home. It's not that far from here." She said in a weak tone, fidgeting her legs as though she was feeling uncomfortable.

"You don't have your own dorm room?"

"Of course! But I wanted to go home for the weekend, I live just a 20-minute walk from here. But on the weekend, a young girl like me shouldn't wander off in the night alone, don't you think?" She said with a soft giggle, gently putting her hand on his forearm. Liam felt a wave of warmth course through him, almost like he felt compelled towards her.

"I mean, no, it wouldn't be wise. Just wait there for a moment." Liam said before grabbing his coat, quickly putting on his shoes. He didn't know why he was doing this. It's not like the girl was important to him, but could he really forgive himself if she became a missing poster?

"I'll come with you." He said as he exited the room, locking the door behind himself.

"Thank you, that's reassuring to know there's nice guys out there willing to help." She said with a soft smile, looking down at the ground as they left the building.

Liam didn't know why, but it felt much colder outside than it should be.
