"HELPP–PP!" Avice suddenly found her voice. "Someone please..." The words unintentionally came out as a whisper as she scrambled back, tears streaming down her face. The wolves were closing in and there was no way out of the mess she got herself into.
Avice stiffened for a second when she remembered she had her phone with her. She dug for her phone blindly the next second and she cursed when it fell from her hand.
"Shit shit shit!" She began to tap the floor and gripped it when she found it. With shaky limbs and eyes darting from her phone to the wolves, she searched for contacts.
Avice gasped when she heard a growl less than twenty feet away from her. They were close!
She opened her mouth to let out a scream that hung in her throat, the phone dropping before she could click Adeline's name. She could see their eyes, green and red. And she could see their noses flaring and their fangs. She could smell them and she could smell their rage and hunger. But she was stiff. She couldn't move and they were less than ten feet away from her.
Not knowing what else to do, Avice brought up her hand and swallowed her tears. She crossed her arms in front of her face, shutting her eyes hard till they began to hurt, and awaited the first teeth that'd sink into her skin.
The first thing she felt was a wolf's paw on her body and then, the fangs plunged into her skin. But before she could scream from the agonizing pain, the teeth disappeared from her skin and she was suddenly swooped away from the ground and into the air.
She opened her eyes, only to find the wolf bouncing off the tree it was slammmed into. The swift air she was swooped into stopped after three seconds and she was set on the ground next to a tree.
The person was about to speed off again but she grabbed the arm leaving her waist, refusing to let it go until she saw the face of her rescuer.
The person crouched in front of her and placed his cold hand on her bloody cheek. Avice adjusted her eyes, trying to see the person in front of her but her eyes were blurry. The blood sliding down from her head got into her eyes and she shut them, a wince escaping her lips.
"It's me, Avice". A deep cold voice that sent her blood to an automatic pause and forced her eyes open said. Avice's lips parted but they refused to bring out words. She just stared, stared at the least person she expected. Stared at the person who called her by her name.
She began to sob. "Re–Rex I'm sorry, you–your bike. I di–didn't kn—"
"Are you okay?" He asked, cutting her off with a tone that flaunted his worry for her rather than his bike.
Of course she wasn't!
But Avice nodded. Before she could utter another word of apology, he sped off to deal with the rouges that wanted to eat her alive.
Adeline was right all along. She warned her about rouges. She told her she wasn't safe outside the pack especially when they had no idea how her wolf disappeared. But she didn't heed and Adeline could have lost her sister because of her stubbornness.
Avice began to feel dizzy and the pain in her arm, leg, body and head combined to declare a war against her soul. She could hardly keep her eyes and ears open. The slashing and growling sound became very distinct and she could feel herself pulling farther away from reality. Deciding to take a quick nap, she leaned against the tree and gave in to the sleep tugging at her sleeve.
Darkness took over and the last thing she knew before she went into a deep slumber was falling into someone's arm when she was about to hit the ground.

Anger.
The only emotion he could feel as he watched her weightless body in his arms. No amount of blood shedding could drive the anger away. He could feel other tiny emotions but the rage in him had blinded them all.
When he heard his motorbike had been taken by her, he was not only angry because she stole his precious bike. Strangely, he was also angry she went out alone when she couldn't even protect herself. How could she be so...bold? Especially after scaring her a day ago.
He sat in his cabin for twenty minutes. Twenty minutes that felt like eternity, twenty minutes of bouncing his feet under his table and waiting for someone to tell him she was back with or without his bike. But when he couldn't wait anymore, he went out in search for her.
He hesitated for a little while, asking himself why he cared about her safety. He tried to remind himself of how much he hated her but he couldn't. He couldn't bring himself to hate her to the extent of turning back.
She wasn't Eliana, she was a different person. And his heart had dared to seperate the both of them instead of seeing them as one person.
Rex rushed into the pack and he could hardly ignore the gasp from everyone. First, they were shocked because he was carrying Eliana, something he still couldn't believe. Second, they were shocked because her face was covered in her own blood.
No one needed to tell him they were mindlinking all their friends about the news because Adeline's sudden presence confirmed it. Colour drained from her face and she turned pale immediately she saw her sister in his arms.
For a moment, it looked like she forgot how to run because she stayed back but then she screamed her name and started running. She almost collided with him in attempt to stop herself and then began to ask him what the hell happened.
He tried to ignore her but then Jordan came too, some feet away from the pack hospital. He knew hell would break lose and the last thing he wanted was lose his shit because of an imbecile who couldn't control his emotions.
"What the fuck did you do to her?!" He pushed him back angrily and Rex breathed out his frustration, not answering him. Adeline kept wailing beside him, not having it in her to get mad at him at the moment.
"Please, wait. Let's take her inside first, please. She's dying". Adeline cried, pushing Jordan out of the way.
"Give her to me". Jordan stretched his hands to collect her and that was where his self control slipped.
"Get the shit out of my fucking way". He growled each word with dominance and his eyes flashed. If jordan knew better, he'd drop the argument for later because the next time he forced him to open his mouth, killing him was the best option he had for him. He had tolerated him too much.
Jordan glared and moved out of the way, his chest rising and falling, trying to contain his anger and the hate words he had for him.
'Is everything ready, simaya?' He mindlinked the doctor.
Immediately, she stepped out of the front door and nodded. He had told her Eliana was seriously injured and to prepare every necessary equipment for her treatment on his way. He wanted her to be treated immediately because she looked like she'd die if any minute was risked.
Simaya and some other nurses took over when he set her on the bed and without letting him spare another glance at her, jordan dragged him out of the hospital. Rex's shirt was covered in Avice's blood and the rouges' blood and his arms weren't exempted. Infact, he was drenched in blood.
"What the hell did you do to her?" Jordan began.
"I took her to the hospital". He answered the obvious and began to walk away. Jordan pulled him back and he bit back the anger threatening to explode inside him. All he wanted was a nice walk to his cabin where he'd vent all his anger on his furnitures but Jordan was stopping that. He suddenly wanted to become his furniture.
"We both know that's a lie. Are you trying to kill her again?" He seethed through gritted teeth.
"Believe whatever you want, jordan. It won't change anything". He told him with the last patience residing in him and walked away. He was grateful he didn't drag him back because another blood would have painted his shirt.
'We're definitely not angry because of your bike'. Texas, his wolf stated mockingly.
He was right. He wasn't sure the anger in him was meant for his ruined bike. At the moment, he wasn't sure why he was angry. He was just....angry. Why?
'Maybe it's not just anger'. Texas said again.
'Oh, you know better, tell me what it is'.
'You know what it is, you don't need me to say it'.
'Shut the fuck up, Tex. Unless you want me to start ignoring you again'.
'She's not Eliana, you don't have to beat yourself up'.
Rex swallowed, cursing himself for being able to relate to Texas taunting words. He had given up on finding someone who'd stroke and caress his fur, someone intimate. He had given up on it long ago because Rex showed no interest in women.
He was an expert at keeping Texas at bay too and he had surely never been worried sick about a girl who was scared of nothing and kept sticking her nose into anything labelled danger.
He could easily read her and at the same time never understood her. She was a mystery.
And he planned to unravel it.
