Chereads / Transmigrated Seduction / Chapter 23 - ☆PACK☆

Chapter 23 - ☆PACK☆

One week.

One week of repeating the same boring activity without any plans for the future. Future, meaning, how to go back to her world. She was yet to give up on it. Although, she didn't know how to make money anymore. Adeline had banned her from leaving the pack until they figured out how to return her wolf. Jordan was hard on it as well. She just couldn't bring herself to tell them she wasn't who they thought she was.

But they wouldn't believe her even if she told them who she really was. And it only baffled her more how Rex managed to figure out by himself and believe that she wasn't Eliana even after she denied it. Was he a psychic or what?

After the little talk in her room that night, he left shortly after, keeping his hands in his pockets the entire time. She had waited for him to come back to her everyday but he wouldn't. She had seen him around but she wasn't bold enough to meet him. And it made her wonder why her heart would somersault each time she saw him. And then her stomach would twist, like the butterflies in it were having a jacuzzi night.

"No! Mom said not to cut the flower!" A little girl yelled at a boy with an identical face next to her, holding a blue flower pot and a pair of scissors.

"Mom won't know if you keep your mouth shut!" He yelled back at the girl who suddenly smacked the back of his head.

"Mom isn't blind. She's going to blame me for your mistake".

"Stop acting like you're a day older than me and stop bothering me". He attempted to run off but the tough girl grabbed his neck collar and jerked him back.

"I won't stop acting like I'm a day older than you until you get hold of your senses!"

The boy dropped the things in his hands and began to grab her own shirt. They started wrestling and Avice couldn't help but smile at the little twins in front of her. The evening air was fresh and she had deciced to talk a walk. Ever since she lashed out a warning one week ago, the people had come to show her respect. To be honest, a tiny bit of regret pinched her gut when she saw how they took her words to heart. She was in no place to reprimand them and Eliana was the one who deserved the respect.

But then again, it wasn't like she could control being in Eliana's body.

When the fight got intense, she crouched down and peeled them apart, forcing down a chuckle when she saw the girl's disheveled hair and some of her strands on the boy's hand. Their expressions were so adorable, especially because they looked so much alike.

"It is very bad to fight". She began but before she could continue, the girl landed a slap her brother's head.

"That's for my hair, fool". She said as she glared at her brother whose chest was rising and falling.

"Okay, that's it. One more smack and I'm sending you both to the Alpha". She threatened, finally gaining some attention as they turned to face her.

Their mouths dropped and their eyes widened, taking a little step back as they exchanged glances. The people she seperated seemed to be getting along now on their own judging by the way they discussed with their eyes.

"We're sorry. We didn't know you're the  one". The female one apologized softly, her hand reaching up her to arrange her hair.

"You should apologise to yourselves, not me".

They turned to eachother but they refused to apologise, instead, the male one turned to Avice and changed the subject.

"Is it true that you ruined the Alpha's motorbike and he hit y—"

The female one jerked him with her elbow. "Jesus, Drake!" She casted him a frown.

"What? You always said you were curious!" He fired back but before another fight could erupt, Avice threw an arm in between their little bodies.

"Enough, enough". She forced their attentions back to her. Avice's eyes darted from the female to the male, wondering how their small bodies could house such smart mouths. "Enough. What is your name?" She asked, referring to the female, the one who seemed smarter.

"I'm Blake. He's Drake. My full name is Blakely but he doesn't have a full name. He's just Drake". She provided, making sure she pronounced the last word with Irritation.

"Dad said it's Drakely!" He retorted and Avice forced down a laughter, knowing the male one would be offended. The female one was trying to piss him off and it was working.

"Enough, I'll answer your question, Blake. Yes. I ruined his bike but he did not hit me. He actually saved me".

"Save? How?" Drake asked.

"Well, i was being chased and I got into an accident but before they could injure me, he came and saved me". Avice explained simply, keeping the long details to herself.

"Oh, like prince charming". Blake squeaked.

"No! Like an action hero".

Blake rolled her eyes at Drake and stepped forward. "We never believed them anyway. The Alpha is too nice and too coward to hit a woman". She said, bringing up her hand to clasp her mouth immediately the last word left her mouth. "Please don't tell him I called him a coward".

Avice smiled. "I won't. But why do you think he's nice?"

It was Drake's turn to step forward eagerly. He leaned in, so close his fresh breath fanned her face as he talked. "One day, Mrs Brown's money was stolen from her bank account—"

Blake inched forward and chirped in. "Fifteen thousand dollars". She backed away, letting Drake continue.

"So she cried to the Alpha after trying to track the hacker for three days and he told her he'll try his best to help her".

Blake continued for him. "After two days, he caught him!" She yell-whispered. "He made him pay, made him send more than the money he stole from Mrs Brown and sent him to the cops because Mrs Brown didn't want him to die. The Alpha was going to kill him for messing with his pack member". She moved back after providing Avice the information she clearly didn't ask for.

Avice once heard Adeline say that Rex was only selfish towards Eliana. She said he was kind to his pack members to an extent and always did everything in his power to make them comfortable and happy. All the while, making Eliana cry.

The words Rex said to her in her room stayed glued to her head no matter how much she tried to shake it off. He said she was only focusing on one side of the story and not both. Adeline had refused to tell her anything. She said she didn't want to trigger any horrible memory and Jordan refused also. He said her memory would come to her at the right time and there was no need to force it.

And the prick called Rex wouldn't open his mouth. Should she force the answer out of him instead?

"Well, we'll leave now. Mom will be expecting us". Drake said to Avice.

"Yeah, see you two around". Avice stood upright and waved them as they ran off with their pot and scissors. They were really adorable and she didn't lift her eyes off them until they were about to dissapear into a building.

Sighing, she turned around to return to the pack house as she crossed her arms low on her stomach. The evening air teased her skin and she shuddered a little before letting it sink into her body, watching some wolves chase eachother to wherever. She was used to seeing wolves around now. Her body was the first to adjust to the sight but her brain was too coward to accept it, so she'd flinch for a second whenever she laid her eyes on one.

Suddenly, Avice's heart drummed against her chest and the knot in her stomach twisted, announcing the start of the party of the butterflies living rent-free in her tummy. Avice's legs stopped automatically and her hand came to rest on her chest, closing her eyes to calm her racing heart.

He was near.

These days, her heart and body had taken it upon themselves to sense Rex first before her nose or her eyes could. She didn't know if it was her emotions that were running wild for him or Eliana's. She just couldn't believe her body was starting to betray her ever since the kiss in his cabin. She had become more....drawn to him.

After an everlasting war with her heart, she succumbed to her curiosity and turned around, her eyes coming to take in Rex that was walking side by side with a man who was almost as tall as him. He was engrossed in the discussion they were having and since he didn't notice her, she let her hungry eyes suck in his body.

He was wearing a grey shirt, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing the veins running down to his fingers. His hair was rather messy, giving him a new look that made Avice's stomach clench. He looked like he just finished working, though he didn't look exhausted, but he didn't look like his usual energised self as well.

Avice's eyes grew big when Rex turned his head, his gaze landing on her like he knew she had been watching him front that angle. He stopped walking and instantly, Avice regretted choosing to stay when she could have taken off.

His hands slid into his pockets effortlessly as his eyes undressed her like he was seeing her the first time. Then a smirk curved one side of his mouth, making her already knotted stomach twist harder. The evening air was anything but cool and she could feel her cheeks grow hotter every passing second.  It was the effect, it was tormenting her again.

Quickly, Avice tore her gaze from him and turned the opposite way, making his smile drop. Her legs moved really fast, but not too fast because she hated to add awkwardness to her embarrassing list. When she sighted a house ten feet away from her, she disappeared behind it because she could feel his gaze on her neck. But as she was about to lean against the wall to calm her racing heart, he appeared in front of her.

"Holy shit!" She jerked away, almost losing her footing when she saw him. "That was unnecessary". Her hand came to rest on her chest which seemed to beat heavier at the sight of him.

"For how long are we going to play this game?" He asked, trying to catch her eyes as he leaned down.

Avice was about to answer but she knew she'd stutter, thanks to her overly excited heart so she remained quiet. If someone had told her a day would come when she'd be nervous around a man after she got swindled, she'd shove the person's head into a river full of crocodiles and run away. Over the past couple of days, she couldn't deny the attraction between them and she had never felt anything like that before. Even with Pierson, her highschool boyfriend who took her virginity.

"So now, it's a silent treatment". He moved closer, his left hand slipping out of his pocket to rest on the wall behind her head.

Hell, she was sure going to be needing a heart transplant soon.

"I want to hear your voice". He said, his voice low and husky, the effect of it travelling down to entertain her butterflies before settling deep in her core. "And your heartbeat is getting too loud. I don't want anyone hearing it but me".

Avice's eyes snapped up. "Don't listen to my heartbeat".

"I'm not listening. I can hear it and it's too loud to ignore".

Avice huffed. "Just so you know, it's not beating for you". She lied and even the words tasted like salt in her mouth.

Rex shifted closer, the front of his shoes coming to kiss hers as she sank deeper into the wall, her eyes sliding from his left to his right eye. His aura sucked in the oxygen around them and for a split second she thought she might start panicking. His hard gaze bore into hers as he inched closer, his other hand coming up to slide her hair behind her ear.

It took every cell in Avice not to react to his soft touch on her face or the way his palm glided down to one side of her neck afterwards, his thumb coming to caress her throat. Avice wanted to swallow a lump hanging at the top of her throat but she feared he might feel it against his thumb so she held it.

His beautiful eyes fell on her neck, then on her lips. "I don't like the sound of that". His voice deepened, like he just got straight out of hell. Avice couldn't help but push the lump down her throat when his commanding gaze landed on her weak eyes. "Would you mind rephrasing that?"
