Rex's head snapped to his door when a scent that had his stone heart tumbling caught his attention. He glanced up at the wall and it was many minutes past ten. He thought Avice would be sleeping by now but instead she was coming to his cabin...and she was angry?
Why was she angry?
She was so pissed that it filled the aura around her and he couldn't help but pinch his brows. What could have pissed her off?
Not longer interested in the papers in front of him, he leaned back into his chair and stared at the door, impatiently waiting for her to barge inside.
He hadn't talked to her after their little kiss three days ago and it was nothing less than a cruel torture. He hated it but he wanted to give her some space, space that was killing him slowly. Each time he tried to focus, he'd find himself lost in her sharp words and the amount of times he had tried to run into her room was unhealthy.
He just wanted her in an unexplainable way. Never knew bond could be so deadly.
"Rex". She pushed his door open, not bothering to knock. He was right about her being angry and he was supposed to be annoyed at her repulsive manner and probably tell her to knock next time but he found it rather exciting because it was unusual. Especially the way she'd pronounce his name whenever she was angry. It was so addictive.
"Who the fuck pissed you off?" He asked, propping up his elbows on his table before taking her in. Her body was covered in a big night robe and her hair in a rough bun. He guessed she was going to sleep but couldn't since something was bothering her.
She came to his table and slapped her hands down on it before glaring at him. Her robe fell apart at her movement and the nightie she was wearing underneath revealed itself. He was about to get distracted when she snapped at him, hitting her right palm on the table loudly.
"Your uncle, I'm screwed. I need the book". She said, her voice low.
"What book?"
"The book I came to steal. I really need to check if there's a way I can get my wolf in action again...or rather, Eliana's wolf".
Rex sighed, remembering his uncle, Crane was back. Seriously, he didn't know if he should be happy or not. Crane was one hell of a shit-loaded package and dealing with him was the last thing he wanted, especially because of his hatred for Eliana. And the girl in front of him wasn't Eliana anymore. She was his mate, Avice.
"It's not there". He informed her as he stood up, rounding the table to stand in front of her.
"What do you mean it's not?" She turned around, her expression sour.
"You think I haven't checked? I've checked multiple times. There's nothing about a wolf disappearing and how to get it back. It has never happened before or probably it was not recorded". He told her truthfully. He was restless after she left his cabin that day and had searched for it but he couldn't find anything about transmigration or inactive wolf.
"What?" Her face fell. "But—oh no". She ran her fingers through her hair, untying the bun and letting it fall.
"What did Crane say? What did he tell you?" Rex asked, not liking the look on her face.
"He's been on my tail since he came. He kept pissing me off multiple times and all I could do was swallow it and act like I'm properly brought up and patient". She explained, her anger reaching its peak. As much as Rex loved to see her run her mouth, the fact that Crane was behind it ruined it. No one had the right to piss her off except him. He was still going to make up for the times he hurt her, when she walked into his cabin and he strangled her. Heaven knew how much he was regretting it.
"What did he say to you?" He asked, openly welcoming his own rage.
"He just...he was only trying to remind me of the times Eliana would beat him up and if I was ready to bring back the old times. He kept squeezing me everywhere to remind me that he's stro—"
"He fucking did what?!" Rex growled, stepping closer as his fists clenched beside him. Did she just say the asshole touched her? Squeezed? Whoa, he could hardly believe someone was willingly asking death on a date.
"It was just his way of—"
"He has no right to touch you, Avice". He cut her off in a way that made her lashes tremble.
"No, not...not that kind of squeeze. He only touched my shoulders and hands".
Rex muttered a curse, closing his eyes for a brief second. He knew Crane hated Eliana and Rex would never give two fucks about any shit he did to her but no. Now, a huge difference was present and when everyone saw her as the meek Eliana, he knew she wasn't. She was Avice and he was never going to stand by and watch someone bother her to the point of making her miserable.
"Look at me, Avice". He cupped her face, forcing her wandering gaze to settle on him. "You just need to say the word. Do you want him out of the pack? Yes or no?"
"But..but he's your uncle".
"Scratch that! I can't have someone on your nerve every second. No one fucks with you and get away with it. I meant what I said three days ago. So do you want him out or not?"
For a moment, she stilled, her eyes lost in his, searching for something she'd never see. He noticed she had a habit of searching his eyes whenever she wanted to confirm something but he bet she'd find nothing.
"No, don't. Let him stay. I don't want you to chase him away because of me". She replied, her voice softer with each word. "I just don't know what to tell him when he"ll challenge me".
"Don't worry about that. I'll handle it". He reassured her and she seemed to relax a little.
Damn Crane for trying to stress his mate so late at night. He was a big coward for trying to challenge her.
"Do you need water?" He asked her and she shook her head.
"I'm sorry I barged into your place so late. I was waiting for him to go to sleep before meeting you". She apologized.
"You don't have to do that. Just focus on yourself and not him."
She nodded. "Okay fine, I have to go. Adeline's waiting for me to bring the book so we'd figure out something but since it isn't there...." She shrugged the rest of the sentence off.
Rex held her back, not wanting to let her go yet. He hadn't talked to her for three days and he didn't just want her to leave after a brief talk. She also didn't argue, she stood still against his table, not wanting to leave also.
Rex knew she could feel it, she could feel the strange connection between them but was trying to push it away incase her heart was playing games with her. But even if it was, it was a game she could never win and she'd fall right into it no matter how hard she tried to escape.
"Adeline can wait". He said, sliding her hair behind her ear before lifting her to sit on his table. Avice drew in a sharp breath but didn't say anything. It'd be pointless anyway because he wouldn't listen.
He moved in between her legs that she parted willingly for him. He knew she missed him as much as he missed her and he wished she could put an end to the agonizing game.
Rex lifted her arms and she crossed them around his neck, pulling him closer for a kiss. Rex smirked, his arm wrapping itself around her body as he descended on the lips he missed so much. Their bodies pressed together heatedly against eachother, breathing heavily as they got lost in each other's kiss.
Their kiss was never soft, he wouldn't even let it unless the mood required it. His body wanted more just a kiss from her and getting just the kiss was frustrating enough to make him want to bruise her lips.
Her fingers slid into his hair, tugging it a little and snatching a grunt from him. Rex moved away from her lips, letting her a moment as he trailed kisses down her jaw. She tilted her head to one side, giving him a better and easier access. Not liking it enough, he drove his hand into her hair and pulled it farther. She let out a moan from the pain on her scalp and the pleasure from her neck.
She smelled and tasted so fucking good and he could hardly refrain from biting down, leaving hickeys all over as a mark and a remainder that she was only to monitor him and not his uncle. She was only to think about him and not his uncle...nor Jordan. Just him.
She let out a louder moan that invaded his body, causing bolts of electricity to run through him at an unhealthy pace and settle in the deepest part of him, making his already impatient dick harder.
Sinking his teeth into her neck, he pushed her arms down and began to slide down the robe off her shoulders.
Breathlessly, she interupted. "Rex, we can't—"
"Shh, baby". He cut her off softly. "Your body is telling me something different". He nipped her earlobe and she jerked a little, another moan slipping free.
Fuck!
She wiggled her robe out of her arms before bringing them up and into his hair. She crossed her legs behind him and pulled him closer, shuddering and whimpering a little when she felt his hardness against her throbbing wetness.
Rex's body heated up and honestly, setting him on fire was better than the torture she was putting him through. Her soft pant, her moan and the way her body pressed against his was brain knocking. He was never a fan of foreplay. He had never done foreplay but he was enjoying the fact that he was bringing her pleasure that was blocking off his senses at the same time.
The only thing he could think of was chasing her to the edge and sending her into oblivion with his dick, and because of that, he didn't notice someone was coming towards his cabin. He didn't even know someone was near until he heard a footstep on his porch.
Then a curt knock followed.
Rex who had no intention of letting Avice go even if the knock lasted till eternity was suddenly forced to part his lips from her skin when the door opened without his permission.
Avice who heard the door open, snapped her head towards it and her eyes went wide the next second it landed on the person standing there.
Rex closed his eyes to shut down the scream growing in his throat, and he almost let it all out when Avice dropped her legs and got off the table.
"Eli—Eliana, you...when did you guys—" Adeline's finger slid from Avice to Rex's frame, not believing the sister he once loathed was about to get fucked by him. Only if she had not interrupted.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you wait". Avice started picking her robe. "I got distracted". She was about to move but Rex blocked her way with his arm.
"Then why don't you finish off the distraction, huh?" He asked, managing to slide a little softness into his deeply aroused voice.
Adeline chuckled unbelievably at the door and Avice casted him a 'can't you read the room' look before bending to pass under his arm.
Rex turned, watching his new and lifetime obsession walk out of his door and then down at his unsatisfied budge.
'Don't worry, Avice. Just a little more time and you'd be the one begging me. Just a little more time'.
