Chapter 8 - Affection of love

This was what Justin hated, born into the rank of the highest vampires that existed, royalty. Just after the royal vampires were the six elders then it was the normal vampires, though they knew the existence of vampires was fading in the world, his mother still had hope that he was going to meet his bride who's a vampire.

His mother stared at the image of the baby in shock and the elders in joy as a smile plastered on their faces for the ray of hope that was shown, the destined bride of Justin was still alive.

After months, finally, he could ascend the throne and lead the vampire kingdom, what was necessary was to find his mate.

"Father, what's the meaning of this? Why was it a child? Why couldn't it be the image of his mate instead?" His mother asked a lot of questions concerned about the matter but he had a smile plastered on his face.

He knew what his grandson was going to experience but as for now, it was just for his grandson to feel the feeling of love and awaiting.

Justin stood up from the circle frustratedly, the ritual was frustrating for him, he knew that there was no such thing as love, everything had to be connected to something.

Even with his girlfriend, he knew the only reason she was affectionate towards him was for power, though he couldn't object after all she was the daughter of another successful company.

But then there was no affection or love, just a lie to make the campus see they were a happy couple.

There was a principle that he had stood by, not to kiss a girl he didn't feel a bit for.

And Maddie, her relationship was for a public display and not for love, a relationship that has never shared a kiss.

Out of all rules, he wonder why he was ready to break that rule just in a day to save her, Mira.

"Mother, I'll like to go to my room." He said curtly, his mother turned to him agape even though she was trying to confirm from her father, he didn't care about the ritual.

"Justin, what are you saying? We still have a little time for us to redo this ritual." His mother calmly spoke.

"But mom, what ritual are you talking about? We've all seen the answer,"

His mother furrowed her eyebrow in confusion and anger.

"What are you saying? We all saw what? What did you see? What did we see? Are we going to take notice that a newborn baby is going to be your mate? A child is the one royal vampire that is destined to be your mate in this entire world?" She spouts frustratedly.

"But mother," he was about to speak but stopped when he saw his grandfather gesture for him to pause.

"Linda, there's no need to make this issue in haste, in this matter, there's no need to bother. We vampires still exist, we're still out there, living. When the right time comes, he'll be meeting his mate. As for Justin, you could go to your room, if your mother wants a redo then we could try again another time." His grandfather said calmly as Justin nodded his head and then he walked, exhausted to his room.

When he was about to reach for the doorknob of his room, he noticed someone, he raised his head to take a look, his father.

Dressed in his deep blue pajamas, fair-skinned, and had short hair around his temples but was done amazingly by his hairstylist, he had hazel eyes, a bridged nose, and small lips, from the looks of it, Justin took most of his features from his father, though he was taller than Justin.

The only difference was that his father was a human.

"Justin," he called him calmly, his father smiled as he strode towards him tapping him on the shoulder with a smile.

"You seem frustrated," his father's bass voice spoke.

"Why shouldn't I, father,"

"Uhm, taking the throne at a young age, I think that's why you seem a bit frustrated, does it seem difficult?"

"No father is the ritual," he spoke softly, though there were people that he behaved coldly with and had bad behavior, to most of his relatives, he always showed the good side of him.

"Is just hard accepting another, is not just about the business, but this time is a mate, I feel mom is trying to force it and I don't want to accept a mate and definitely not wait for her to grow up," Justin added.

He looked at his father straight head, his father could understand what he was talking about.

"I could remember when your mother gave birth to you and now, my small baby has become nineteen years old. It seems as though I should take back my son who was this little," he jested gesturing a small height, Justin chuckled.

"Common, you still have a night to pass, I'll talk with your mum if you want this to slow down on you."

"You don't have to say anything, grandfather took care of it."

"Okay," his father heaved a deep breath before gesturing to him goodnight as he left as Justin entered his room.

Justin switched on the light in his room, looking at it, it was full of luxury, his one-room looked like an apartment.

A Queen sized bed was at the center of the room from the entrance, two sliding glasses at each side of the bed that leads to the lavatory on the left and his dressing room on the right. Behind the behind was a curtain that closed the view of the city, through the sliding door, he could enter the balcony.

He entered the lavatory, ready to take a bath in his jacuzzi, he sat it with bubbly water ready and petals spread on it.

With easy access, he took off his cloth entering the tub, on the side of the jacuzzi was a mini storage, he took out a novel to read.

As he read the book, a scene in the novel made him remember, Mira.

The girl was exactly as she was called, he knew that the name was formed by her sister before the entire school called her that word.

He couldn't do anything and he wasn't willing to do a thing but then she was just a weakling and not the one who was able to stand on the ground that's why she landed into the pool.

She couldn't defend herself.

He felt curious about her but then he hated the way she acted so weak, if she wanted to stop the fitted name, then at least she should be strong.

She was not that bad but then she was weak which irked him.

"You still have a lot to learn, duckling," he murmured before he continued to read his book.
