The forest was dark, cold, and silent, was midnight, and the moon tried to portray its light into the environment but the leaves on the tree kept it away.
Loud footsteps of running foot of a person in the forest, she ran in fear for her life.
She had been traced by someone ready to take her life.
Running from the person felt as though it was endless, she turned around to see if the person was near her only to tumble on a rock.
She immediately tried to pick up her pace and looked at the back to see if the person was there but then the person was not behind her back.
Her eyes scrutinized the environment and then she found the person in her front.
She gulped her saliva hard.
"Please, please. Don't hurt me," she begged though she was sure no matter how she begged, the person's eyes only was a confirmation that the person was ready to take her life.
The person had a dagger held tightly and then the person raised the dagger to stab her as she screamed.
"Ahhh!!" Mira shrieked in reaction to the water that was poured on her instead of reacting to the nightmare she had.
"Oh wow, sleeping beauty. You're doing such a good job sleeping," the person chuckled.
"You have the nerves. Who do you think you are?" She heard a voice ask her feisty.
Mira raised her head to see that it was Maddie, the school campus' girl crush, the goddess of the campus adored with beauty, staring at her with disgust.
Fair skinned, long black curly hair with a grey dye touch at the tip of the hair, black eyes, bridged nose, Rosie pump lip.
A splendid creature adored by the school for her appearance though she tortures those who looked nothing compared to her.
"Hey, ugly duckling. You're sleeping here when we did so much stress just to look for you," another voice spoke from the side of Maddie, Belina, one of Maddie's minions.
Caramel skin, curly shoulder hair length, hair dyed in brown, black eyes, bridged nose, small lip.
Just on the other side was Prudance, the other minion of Maddie. Fair skinned, long straight hair, hazel eyes, flat nose, and plump lip.
These two were the minions of Maddie aka her best friends.
Causing trouble for others, they were given instructions from Maddie most of the time.
"I... I," Mira faltered trying to speak up, she adjusted the glasses on her nose and then lowered her head.
She felt a finger flick her on her forehead almost letting her glasses fall but she immediately adjusted it.
"Hey, look at me, stupid girl," Maddie spoke arrogantly as Mira obliged raising her head fearfully.
"I asked you to bring sandwiches without pickles but instead, what did you bring? Do you want me to have a heart problem? You're only seventeen but you're willing to kill someone at this age of yours. " She paused as she sighed frustratedly.
"You know what..."
She threw the nylon bag of the sandwich on her face.
"Is my fault, why did I ask an ugly duckling to order me something that I'll eat? I can't make myself turn into someone like you, your appearance could have contaminated this food and then my poor appearance would have become a disaster." She spouted aggressively.
Once she knew that she was okay with tormenting her, she walked out of her front with her minions. They both gave her a knock on the head before they left.
Mira stared at the nylon bag on her lap, adjusted the glasses that fell out her face, and then she put the nylon bag in her bag.
She hadn't eaten since morning because she had to spend her allowance to get Maddie the sandwich.
Mira couldn't help but think about what Maddie said, her life was an ugly duckling, the unfitted one.
She ran to the restroom and there she stared at herself in the mirror.
She stared at the girl dressed in a dark blue school jacket, with white innerwear, and a mini skirt. She was dark skinned looking as though she was burnt instead and then it was clear that she had a poor body treatment, she wore glasses that covered half of her face, messy curly hair that reached her shoulder even her hair looked so dry and lack of hope that it has that thickness and would become a shiny hair, black eyes, plump lips, rounded face with a mole at her cheek. Though she was tall, 166cm.
She burst into tears, with despise of how she looked, why couldn't she be as pretty as the rest and have a simple life that others had?
Why couldn't the miseries stop?
She sniffed her nose as she sobbed till she couldn't again. Once she raised her head to check the mirror, her eyes were swollen, it became direr.
She turned the tap and rinsed her face but it didn't take care of her appearance condition so she wore her hoodie.
She got out of the lavatory with a downward head, she walked her way when she heard voices of some people coming towards her.
She raised her head to meet the gaze of the people but then her attention caught one in midst of them, Justin.
He came with his friend, sweaty because of the basketball tournament they had played.
She couldn't get over his blue eyes that stared at her for a bit, it felt as though her world was filled with glitter as his eyes met her.
Her crush, Justin, the one she couldn't help but have a beaten heartbeat when she was a little bit close to him, though she knew getting close to him would lead her to trouble, he was the bad boy of the school after all, being a good girl she couldn't hang out with him but she couldn't control her emotions.
Her imagination withered when she took notice of Maddie's voice that called for him from behind.
Once he heard her voice, like a happy couple, he turned around enthusiastically and then she ran to him to hug him, he carried her from the ground then she gave him a peck on the cheek first before she moved to his forehead.
Mira seeing this activity reminded herself of what her status was, there was no way that he was going to notice her with a beautiful girlfriend like Maddie.
Like everyone else, they saw she as the ugly duckling then why wouldn't it make any difference with him?
She hastened her step and walked past the couple as she reached for the library door. She took a deep breath after that event that happened, she felt so suffocated.
She was never at rest, neither when she was awake nor when she was asleep, her life was a completely miserable kind full of nightmares.
She walked into the library and took her favorite novel, beauty and the beast.
Fantasized about the novel though she felt as though it was only an imagination whenever Maddie was with Justin, how could she have such a story when she isn't a beauty but an ugly duckling?
All she wants is a story like Cinderella who was taken out of her nightmares by her handsome prince.
She wore her wireless headphone as she read her novel. As time ticked, she fell asleep.
Once again, in the dark forest, chilling with a frightening aura, she could feel her skin raise in goosebumps and then different voices spoke in trepidation. More as though the voices and souls were seized from their bodies.
She shut her eyes and used her hands to cover her ear.
"Ahhhhh!!! Please !!!! Just stop!!!" she screamed.
For a moment she didn't hear a sound so she opened her eyes just to see red eyes staring at her with fury, anger, and bloodthirsty.
