"So this guy has been bugging me lately." Nandy said as we headed into school.
"What was he going on about?." Mildred asked as she came closer to Nandy, whom of course shoved her off a bit.
"He wants to go out with me." she said and I smiled a little bit.
"And what did you say?." Mildred asked. I was too was eager to know, I brought my head a little closer.
"Shift over you creep." she said slightly pushing my head away with a stint of annoyance.
"But I wanna get in on the conversation."
"And why's that?." Nandy stopped and asked.
"Because I know the genesis of it." I said and Nandy scoffed.
"Because you know the genesis doesn't entail you must be aware of the revelations."
"Are you pushing me away?." I asked, she nodded and turned to Mildred.
"Yup I am freak." Nandy said.
"Girl, get your brother in on the conversation, what's the worst that could happen?, it's not like it's a girls' gist anyways." Mildred said giving her a friendly nutch on the shoulder. Nandy rolled her eyes and continued.
"Well, I told him that I didn't do guys and he laughed and said that it was rather interesting, then added, "Good thing I can ungay you." And they both laughed together as if to mock the dude, though I thought it sounded dumb coming from the guy, I kinda got his point, it was possible but he was making it look weird the way he said it.
"But one doesn't choose to be gay, one is simply born gay, you know..." Mildred said.
"Holy mother of God!." I exclaimed to her words of which I believed wasn't entirely thought out properly.
"See he gets it, he knows that the guy is down right stupid." Mildred said. I shook my head slowly.
"No Mildred, I exclaimed because you both are down right being stupid right now and also because of y'all's illogical beliefs." she raised an eyebrow and gave me a dead frown.
"Meaning?."
"Meaning that one isn't born gay or lesbian or any of the Bs or Ts or Qs, society, social media, parents, peers, influences from all around and what not makes one decide to be any of those things, one only chooses to be part of the LGBTQ either because he or she was influenced to thinking that it was totally cool to act like a woman or a man respectively, or that they were born in the wrong body or in the case of gays and lesbians, they were having boyfriend or girlfriend problems and going same sex seemed like the only logically sane idea at the point in time, or also perhaps because they were sent to same sex boarding houses or day school and couldn't resist the rampant temptations or they grew up in LGBT friendly homes where the parents are gays or lesbians like in the situation of my stupid sister that...is long gone. But the major problem is when the law and society totally backs it up, with all due respect, we, this generation, we're fucked, real time." She looked at me a while.
"So you're homophobic?." she asked.
"I'm not homophobic, I respect everyone's choices and I'm not gonna be hating on any one irrespective of their beliefs, no matter how annoying it is but I know the truth and I'm not gonna sit around lying to myself." I rested my back on the locker as we talked. "In as much as I have been taught to tolerate every tribe, nation and behavior no matter how annoying they are to me, I say again, I won't fail to voice out my various views but respectfully too so as no one gets insulted, it's highly important."
"So you don't like the LGBT community then but you don't hate them either?."
"Wow, Mildred, you're so smart, yes!."
"So, do you think you're gonna say this to LGBT friendly people and they're gonna agree with you?."
"Look, this is probably gonna be offensive to some but it's my ideology and for the fact that..."
Before I was done talking, they were long gone laughing in mockery of me, I shook my head and shrugged, I forgot I was talking to my sister, Like Jesus said that one time, "A prophet is not recognized in his hometown..." I wasn't a prophet though not was I recognized anywhere.
I went over to my locker which turned out to be two away from Nandy's, I couldn't help but keep on paying attention to the conversation but I wasn't gonna face them so they wouldn't figure out I was dying to eavesdrop.
"It's official, I'm totally doing this." Nandy said banging her fists on the locker shutting it on the go.
"Nandy, is it really necessary to pay Whitney twenty bucks to pretend to be your girlfriend for three days just to push away some annoying people?." Mildred asked.
"Sure, she looks poor and could use it."
"Nandy!." Mildred exclaimed.
"Chill out baby girl, Mama's just kidding, I didn't mean that."
"It definitely looked like you did." I turned to them, shut my locker and Nandy rolled her eyes.
"Creep!." I threw my hands apart signifying "what did I do?" and they walked off. A
I got to the class and soon Gary came in, I had saved a seat for him next to me, grade ten wasn't something to mess with, if I could get around it, eleven and twelve were pieces of cookies in my humble opinion.
"Harry, what's going ma bro?." We exchanged slappy handshakes, snapping our fingers together while at it.
"Life!." I said. "Simply life." Gary looked at me and sat down. "I'm definitely not gonna pay attention to you because I've got bigger stuff on my mind."
"Like what?."
"I wanna try out for the soccer team." I looked at him for a while.
"Dude, you can't even kick a balloon talk more of a football, it's football, not soccer, fooooot... baaaall!." He punched my hand and it was really hurtful. "Dude!."
"At least I kicked a Harry."
"That was a punch." I teased.
"I know what I said."
"But why if I may ask?." I was still massaging my sore arms. "You don't talk football, you don't have zeal for football and you definitely don't breathe football, plus, the ball would kick you and not the other way round."
He looked at me with a straight face which I couldn't help laughing at. "Wow, hey dude, haven't seen you before around here?, are you related to Gabriel Iglesias or perhaps Sabinus?." He said, I raised an eyebrow at what he said .
"Dude, I get it, I'm not funny but I was making a point."
"I just found what I love about soccer." He said with his hand on the table supporting his head and a twinkle in his eyes.
"Football!."
"Bro, this is the United States, it's called soccer man, please don't begin this."
"Man this is planet Earth, it's football, amma surely begin this, foot...ball!."
"Soccer."
"Football!." I claimed on.
"Mind if I add it's Football?!..." The Physics teacher added as she got into the class. "Isn't that right class?."
The chorus began, "Football!."
"Soccer!."
"Football!."
"Soccer!."
"Alright, settle down Gen Z's, it's called football, and it's Physics time and guess what, it's molecules guys, now who's excited?."
"We are Mrs. Rodriguez." a weak chorus came from the class. The teacher couldn't care less.
What's not to love in this jolly, rich looking woman?.
An Hour Later...
"Dude, the class is done, wake up before you're left behind." Gary said to my ear. I stood up realizing that I had slept through the entire class.
"Why did I fall asleep?." I asked while stretching.
"Probably because he was teaching like this... A Molecule is the smallest particle of a substance that has all the physical and chemical properties of that substance. They're made up of one or more atoms. They include molecule of an atom, element or compound and blah, blah, blah. The bottom line was the fact that he spoke too fast or too slow depending on his mood and we would never really understand and we didn't care because at the end of the day, his class was an excuse to have a nice dose of sleep." A boy passing along said.
"Whoa, no wonder I slept off. You seemed to have been paying loads of attention." I said.
"No I slept off, but I have a gift, I have the ability to hear things in my sleep."
I was dumbfounded. "What?."
"Only in Ohio." Gary said. He laughed and replied.
"I know it's weird but I'm not kidding."
"Isn't your brain meant to resting while you sleep?." I asked. He sat down and said.
"Back when I was younger I couldn't get any sleep unless the place was like a graveyard..."
"You slept at graveyards?." I asked.
He laughed again and said "No you fool, I said I couldn't get any sleep unless the place was like a graveyard or rather as quiet as one."
"Oh!." Gary said.
"Yeah, then much later, as I got older, I learnt to take control of my mind I could now choose whether or not to listen while I slept."
"Must've been really tough for you not getting any sleep unless the place was really quiet." Gary said.
"Yeah, whenever my uncle Fernando came around, blood of God, his boom box was always louder than Club Blue at new year's eve." This boy always seemed happy at everything he did and said, I do wish that I could be smiling every time like him, like my dude was so cheerful.
"Nice man, you're lucky." I said. I took my books and we headed outside, I wasn't gonna lie though if I were to really rate how much I believed him, I would put a forty percent for the positive, it was kinda hard to believe but this is God's Earth that he allowed the Devil to take control of till his second coming of which he would send his son Jesus, open a Bible, so anything was possible in what is now, Satan's Earth, nothing was gonna shock me anymore.
"Yeah and we're also so lucky to live in a world where we're told we have freedom of speech but we actually don't." He said.
"So you're telling me that we've got no freedom of speech?." Gary asked. The kid and I looked at one another and began laughing our hearts out.
"He thinks we have freedom of speech and stuff." we chorused amidst our laughter and he didn't seem to be in the least happy but we good. We reduced for a while but we continued louder immediately till the whole block was soon staring.
"Gooooooooo Beeeeeeaveeeers!." Went the school cheerleading squad as they raced past us. I placed my hand on the kids shoulder.
"So many pretty ladies bruv." He turned, looked at me and tapped my hand.
"Right?." We couldn't stop staring.
"Well I feel left out." Gary said. I looked at him and smiled.
"You'll get there Ger bear, you'll get there." I said patting his back
I realized it was second period Arts and crafts and I wasn't offering that neither was the guy but Gary was and we bid him a "later" as we headed to the library and he went to class.
"Do you have a girl?." I asked.
"Yeah I do, but she's in grade twelve." I looked at him.
"So you've got a sugar mama?."
"No, we're teenagers bruh."
"How old is she?."
"Eighteen." He said.
"And you?."
"I'm four below but what the fuck is up with you and the questions?."
"Relax dude. She ploughing you yet?." He smiled.
"Accidentally waltzed right in the boys bathroom coincidentally at the same time I was right in, she said my tree so tall and my wood thicker than any she've seen in a long while... sooo."
"How the hell did she grab sight of your area?."
"Well, she had barged and I was right in there easing myself.."
"wait!, ok... Right!." I said smirking.
"We had some rated eighteen kinda fun and now here I are.'
"Niiiiiiice, and you're no longer penile?" I said.
"Sure." He laughed again and I laughed. "What of you man?." He asked. "Wait I just realized you're one of the new twins that had just arrived. The boy is the less cool version of the sister who's totally into girls." I stared at him directly in the eye. "Whoa, that eye contact, it's, it's really... I'll stop talking." I didn't really know what hurt, the comparison with my sister or the fact that it was coming from a total stranger who barely knew me and which made it sound so true.
"I don't really have a girlfriend but I've got an eye for Mildred."
"Look, Mildred looks cool and awesome but if you get to know her you'll realize that she's a piece of headache." I stared again.
"How do you know that." He looked away. "She's your ex?... isn't she?" He turned to me.
"No bruh." He looked down. "I had a guy that was my good friend but she dated him and after all he did for her, she dumped him and humiliated him further and he ended up leaving the school." I looked at him a while while raising my eyebrow, I sure wasn't gonna just believe him like that.
"And why is no one talking about it?."
"You know... Life!." He looked him up. "For example, a celebrity gonna be down right stupid today and tomorrow they do something a little good, an irrelevant act that is termed glorious and all ever so righteous by the media, it could possibly be a lie because you know, only twenty percent of social media content is real and the celebrity is suddenly the best thing that has happened to the world."
"Well that's true, that shit is simply the worst, remember when the Euphrates river was drying up?."
"Yeah, it's still drying up and no one gives two fucks because there're more important things than the coming of Christ."
"It's really sad bruvva." I said.
"Remember the flood in Brazil because they celebrated a carnival in respect to the devil and all his demons?." I laughed out loud.
"There's no messing with our Jesus bruv." I said, he held my shoulder still trying to control his laughter. "Sadly, it seems no one cares." We shook our heads.
"Seriously." He said. We soon got to the library, and the librarian wasn't a really very jolly fellow, so we had to shut our mouths as we got inside, I was gonna get myself a history book and sit as far from this guy as possible so as not to be distracted.
Hours Later...
It was lunch time and we had to go, the dude had dosed off and so I tapped on his back so he would wake up, I was dang starving, an elephant could be a snack right now and I wouldn't even be full.
When we got to the cafeteria I saw Gary was already there and he waved over for me to come sit and when I invited the dude to come over, I could sense a stint of annoyance but what do I know?.
"How was the libe?."
"Gary bro, the library is not the libe." I said. The guy laughed.
"Nerd!." He said and Gary went red.
We began hearing a very loud argument and we turned and realized it was Nandy, Whitney and another girl I recognized as Esther.
"This has been going on for long enough Esther." Whitney shouted at her face when she approached her, Nandy just sat down in their middle stuffing her face with pizza.
"I can't sit around having you flirting with my woman." Whitney continued and Esther pushed her.
"Your woman?." Esther said. "She came to this school because of me, I literally knew her before you ever did and this is gonna be the last amma see you near..." Whitney slapped her hard and she staggered almost emptying a table. She further grabbed Nandy by the cheeks and kissed her lips a long while not minding the sauce all over her mouth and lips. She pulled Nandy away and my sister blushed vividly like a Nigerian snowman.
"Wow, she just came and she's already in some lesbian drama?." some one said.
"Creepy fight." Another said. Some streamed it live on their TikToks, while some videoed it to be posted later.
Nandy stood up probably to resolve the issue and Esther stood up and grabbed her from her behind and gave her a long kiss which Nandy then felt comfortable with and having wiped her mouth, grabbed Esther tighter in the same manner and gave her a kiss and most boys just clapped while others laughed. Some stated that that was the most stupid yet dramatic piece of action that had happened to Breecherville high since James Wattford. I wasn't opportuned to ask who that was but as they kissed and Whitney came closer which made Nandy push her away, I stood up and left. I had simply lost my appetite, they were grabbing their behind cheeks like it was some African swallow that wasn't stirred up properly. Well good cheers to them.
In the hallway, Douglas, the renowned class bully approached Nandy with a microphone and a speaker and began to speak.
"Breecherville high, this girl right here believes she has successfully proven that everyone that she's a full fledged lesbian right?."
"Well yeah, I'm really homophobic because those things are creepy as shit, why chase same gender when we got them sexy girls around and boys too with them ass, boobs and six inch pipes..." One of his guys, Christian stated, they laughed and exchanged handshakes.
"How are you sure yours ain't smaller than your index?." a girl behind me stated aloud and the hallway erupted in laughter.
"Ok Christian, let's not annoy the LGBT community because they are definitely humans and not things, ok?, but this particular bitch right here, I can definitely ungay her, cos that's what I do." I and a few laughed, it sounded dumb coming from him but I had a feeling I was gonna enjoy the show.
"Douglas, as I have heard your name is, I reckon all is scared of you, especially the girls but guess what, I am not." He laughed, came closer and spanked her ass, I was enraged and I wanted to make a move but Nandy gave him a hard punch on the face, he retaliated but Nandy skillfully dodged it and from his waist sent two of them flying to the ground with only his back landing flat on the ground, he let out a loud and quick scream and Nandy further stepped on his stomach hard and immediately the microphones blasted.
"Nandy Tricia Melon and Douglas Ronald Ted, please report to my office immediately." I simply laughed together with the guys, every one clapped and clapped even though I wasn't pleased he harassed my sister but one of the reasons I loved Nandy was she knew what she wanted and how to get it, plus she wasn't ever gonna let anyone ride on her.
"David has brought down Goliath." A guy said.
"But this time, David was a woman." Another girl stated, the rounds of applause went higher as she passed us and when Douglas stood up everyone was booing like crazy.
"I guess that makes it Davine and Goliath." some one said, the hallway went silent and the girl walked away slightly embarrassed.
When we got home I asked Nandy about the incident and she said.
"I quite enjoyed it plus Esther got some soft pillows down there and it felt good to have mine massaged in public, plus that freak Douglas, let's not give two fucks about him please." she smiled and I rolled my eyes.
"Did you get detention?."
"Nope, she said, she was gonna let me off the hook because I was a lady and he sought for trouble but I best be of good behavior."
"Female privileges, that's cool, anyways how much did you pay the girls?."
"Two hundred dollars each."
"That's fair." I stretched myself. "Well if you need me..."
"No I won't."
"I'll be in my room."
"Still won't."
"Savage bitch." I murmured. "Hey mother, hey Jane."
"Hey Harry, how was school?." Debra asked.
"It was cool." I replied. "Will be in my room."
"Sure." she said and I ran up the stairs. Nandy didn't greet anyone and ran upstairs, she thought I was gonna snitch, no, siblings stick together, this is something so unimportant it may cause a silly argument and I don't need one of those. Jane didn't respond to my greetings but you see, that's life in the Melon household, ciao."
