Danisa Adams' life was turned upside down when his mother, Serafina Bells, was diagnosed with asthma in 2004. At first, it wasn't too serious, and she could still manage to do things on her own. However, as time went by, her condition worsened, and she found it increasingly difficult to cope.
Serafina's husband, Adams Sibanda, worked as a chef in South Africa, and he would only come home once a year for Christmas. He barely provided for his family, always making excuses for not sending enough money. Serafina suspected that he had a mistress in South Africa, but she couldn't bring herself to believe it.
As Serafina's health continued to deteriorate, Danisa began to notice the changes in his mother. She would often be short of breath, and her energy levels would be low. Despite her struggles, Serafina was a hardworking woman who relied on farming to support her family. She worked tirelessly to provide for her three children: Stella, the eldest, who was 14 years old; Drew, the second-born, who was 10 years old; and Danisa, the youngest, who was 9 years old.
Danisa's schooling was also affected by his mother's illness. He would often stay home to take care of her, and his grades began to slip. Despite this, Danisa was a bright and curious child who loved learning. He would often spend hours reading books and exploring the world around him.
As the days turned into weeks, Serafina's condition continued to worsen. Danisa could see the pain and suffering in her eyes, and he felt helpless to do anything about it. He began to wonder if his father's absence was contributing to his mother's illness. Why did he never come to visit? Why did he never send enough money?
These questions swirled in Danisa's mind as he watched his mother struggle to breathe. He felt a deep sense of anger and resentment towards his father, and he began to wonder if he would ever see him again.
