Chapter 4 - The Vampire King –Part 1

The carriage passed through a rough path causing it to jerk and Nova hit the injured part of her stomach on the side of the carriage. She hissed and gritted her teeth in pain as beads of sweat came to form on her forehead. Nova did not know if it was because of the pain or due to blood loss, but she felt her consciousness slipping away. No! She could not faint here in this carriage and definitely not when the man in the carriage had not spoken a word since she boarded it. She would think he was dead, but she doubted it.

Despite all the preachings she gave to herself to stay awake, her eyelids became heavy and soon she gave way to the darkness to welcome her.

The man in the carriage finally moved when the human fell unconscious. His fangs has been aching for a while now after the sweet scent of the human's blood wafted through his nose. He was thirsty, hungry even; he had not taken any blood for the past two days and the human with him in carriage was like food presented to him on a silver platter. For some reason though, he was holding back from sucking her dry.

He ran his finger through his hair as the color of his eyes fluctuated between red and dark blue. He looked at the human who still had her face scrunched up in pain, running his tongue on his sharp fangs. He took off his coat feeling hot and then inched closer to the human. The smell of her blood was stronger when he was very close to her. He could hear the beating of her heart in her chest and the blood running through her veins and it was driving him crazy. He draped his coat on the human covering her up before he pulled away and closed his now dark red eyes, taking in a deep breath.

...

Nova's eyes blinked open slowly. She moved a little and felt pains in her body. Memories of what happened last night came flooding into her mind and she shivered in fear. Her eyes moved to where the stranger was sitting with his closed and she was awestruck by the god sitting not too far away from her. This... What he got was far better than good genes. It was as if God took his own special time to sculpt this glorious being to perfection. There was no single flaw on his face from his eyebrows down to his perfect jawline.

He opened his eyes and looked at her and she felt herself paralyze on the seat as his red eyes looked at her. He... was a vampire?!

If there was anything she knew about vampires, it was that their eyes turn red when hungry for blood. Wait... Does that mean he was hungry for blood? Her blood!?! Her eyes widened in fear at the realization and the slight possibility that it might be true.
