Chereads / Kalon, And The World Of Chaos / Chapter 9 - Welcome X Students

Chapter 9 - Welcome X Students

Professor Vendetta began his speech by delivering thanks to the instructors who were here to help. He also gave thanks to all of the students that are attending the school.

"Welcome students from all parts of the world. I am Professor Vendetta, one of the heads of this academy. Here, you will learn to be the best of the best and the strongest of the strong. What we build here are mighty magicians who can face any threat presented."

"I would like to pay respects to the founding magicians for constructing a realm for our training and livelihood. Without further ado, let us organize this week, shall we?"

Professor Vendetta waved his hands, and the room transformed. The walls had widened, and the lights were brighter. Additionally, he mentioned that he has placed an instruction book for the next few weeks.

He concluded his speech and left us to return to our rooms. Word got around that today was considered Sunday. So it's safe to consider that our actual classes started tomorrow. As I returned to my room before I entered the hall, there was a floating letter.

My every attempt to walk around the letter was blocked. "It's a temporal enchantment," A girl said out of nowhere. This girl peered from around the corner and added, "You have to touch it to receive the message."

I was slightly hesitant, but I touched it. When the letter dropped into my hands, I looked back at that girl, but she was gone. I hope she isn't one of those weirdos.

Upon entering my room, one of my roommates, Adus, was writing in a notebook with a feather. That is odd, especially since we have pens available. He finally noticed me enter the room, quickly closed his book, and asked, "Where's Athar?"

Ignoring his apparent nervousness, I told him that I didn't have a clue. I made it halfway into my room, and Adus asked, "Let me know what that letter says. I accidentally lost mine."

"Of course," I replied. I entered my room and organized all of my supplies before reading the letter.

That's odd that he's burned an enchanted letter. Without wasting any more time, I read the letter.

"Welcome, Kalon Williams. This letter is to guide you to your new classes this year. You have a total of five classes this first semester, which consist of Defensive magic, Basic spells, potions, history of curses, and wands class.

Your second half will be reflected in how well you do in the first half. To locate your classes, the spell compusto will need to be placed on this letter once you're done reading this. Good luck with your ventures at Vendetta's School Of Magic."

The letter was concluded, and all that was left was to cast the spell.

Adus knocked on my door and said that Athar was back. I walked to the common area and said, "Adus, sorry, but this letter is of no use to you." I handed it to him so he could see for himself. He looked over it for a moment, and Athar asked, "Did you not see yours?"

Adus handed it to me and said, "Well, I'm guessing that the enchantment isn't secluded to one individual. My information was on there as well."

"Maybe the tracking spell will work for the both of us if we cast it at the same time," I mentioned. He agreed and pulled his wand out. The both of us cast the tracking spell, and conveniently, we saw the tracker. What I saw were many little flames leading in a particular direction., perhaps the direction of my classes.

For now, I see no use for them until tomorrow. Then, suddenly, the flames disappeared.

"I think I know how this enchantment works," I said momentarily. Then, Athar said, "The flames only show up when you need them to." Adus then says, "That makes sense."

"When is dinner?" Athar asked.

Now that he mentioned it, I am feeling hungry all of a sudden. Adus told us to look at the back of the door, and there was a set schedule of times on it and a brief view of the floor and castle.

On our floor, there were, of course, our rooms, but there was also the washroom, which had the washer and dryers as well as the showers. Then, there was the study room, and last, there was a snack room.

We looked at the castle map and saw many rooms, such as Hydras Hall, all of the classrooms, the lunch hall, the library, the front entrance, the back entrance, and even Professor Vendetta's office.

"Maybe that enchantment was not just for classes," Adus briefly mentioned. I agreed and said that we should try to think about going to the lunch hall and hoping the flames show up.

Athar then said, "It works. My flames are lit up."

Then, mine became apparent, and we all left for the lunch hall.

Once we arrived, there were many students there. The tables accommodated this as well. The best part about this was that we could take the food in trays back to our rooms if we didn't want to stay. This was primarily their idea, but I noticed my friend Leo.

"You guys can carry on," I said. "I'm going to stay behind," I added.

I walked over to him and said, "Hey, Leo, it's been a few days, hasn't it?" He said, "It has." He asked me to sit with him.

"How was Germany before you left?" Leo asked. "The usual," I replied.

"But, there's more I should've called you about," I said. He became more invested and asked for more details.

I then said, "Apparently, I've been jinxed. My grandmother thinks that it was caused by black magic. She cast a protection spell, but who knows how long this one will last."

Leo then said, "Black magic is dangerous. My father knows a bit about them from his studies. Maybe I can ask him about it when I get the chance."

Leo asked me what kind of thing I've encountered while being jinxed. I gave him a lengthy explanation of the past few days, and he was dumbfounded that I was dealing with that for days on end.

"Yeah, that was my story. What did you do?" I then said.

"Well, I have been rather busy myself. I took some time to learn more spells before I came here. My father taught me them," Leo said proudly. I had to ask what kind of spells he learned. He told me that his father taught him five spells, one being a curse.

Leo said that he taught him the disarming spell, level two fire spell, defense spell, purify spell, and the most dangerous spell known to the magic world, alakazam. This spell is so dangerous because it tortures you to death. The tragic part is that there is no way to undo the spell once cast.

Some may think that spells are easy to cast, but you have to train to use them, meaning you have to try to cast until perfection is consistent. Failure to do so can result in a spell malfunction, which can either backfire or harm others in the process. This is why I'm very impressed with Leo learning these spells within the time he had.

"Leo, how long did it take you to learn these spells?" I asked. What he said made my jaw drop. He said that it only took him a month. But there's a twist: he said it only took a month of consistent non-stop training.

"Damn, Leo, you're really progressing, huh?" I asked before we both chuckled.
