The following day, I woke up, got ready, ate breakfast, and headed to class. My first class was wands class. Upon entering the room, the first thing I noticed was the scenery. There was a bunch of maroon drapery. Pretty much everything else matched the color, including desks, the floor, and the stained windows. There was a hint of gold here and there, but from what I could tell, the instructor liked gold and maroon.
I wasn't the first person in the class. I saw a few students other than myself, one being that girl I saw yesterday. The others were unfamiliar but soon to be acquainted. I chose a desk to sit at, and all seemed normal, but the cubby of the desk had a mouth.
The instructor, Mr. Redali, noticed my confusion, walked over, and said, "You have to use a spell to open its mouth." To my inconvenience, I didn't know the spell for this. I expressed this, and he told me to repeat after him, "Opreem." The mouth opened up, and he said, "Don't worry, you're not the first." Before walking away.
More and more students entered the class until it was complete.
"Good morning, young witches and wizards. I am Instructor Redali, and I will be one of your tertiary instructors. I specifically teach the art of using the wand ideally. Some of you may come from families that taught you well, but I will teach you better than ideal.
Before we open the books up, we will start by introducing one another, yes?"
Instructor Redali started with himself, "My name is Luis Redali. I was born in Austria and raised in the U.K. I am thirty-five years old, and I like to read books. Same template as me, students."
Each student took their turn introducing themself. There was one guy who was Egyptian named Mody Amari who claimed to love to learn about witchcraft. The class got a laugh out of it since it sounded so random to hear.
There was another student named Samira Bacri, and she was Algerian. She says that she likes to make paper puppets. According to her, she can manipulate them, making it much more impressive.
Then there was that one girl I ran into. Her name was Saara Zahra. She was Turkish. She was a bit timid, but she said she loved to write stories. She mentioned that she likes how they feel like they come to life.
Many more students introduced themselves until it was my turn.
"My name is Kalon Williams. I was born and raised in Germany. I am thirteen years old, and I like to learn."
Man, I wouldn't say I like it when the spotlight is on me. "Mr. Williams, your parents wouldn't happen to be Danté and Ella Williams?" The instructor asked. I was silent for a moment before saying, "That would be them."
You could hear the class whispering amongst each other. I sunk into my desk, knowing well that I am still being noticed. Introductions were concluded, and our instructor told us to open our books to chapter one, Handling.
The instructor began to lecture and asked us to follow along. But, for some strange reason, I couldn't focus. Studying was never a problem for me. Every time I look at a few words at a time, they start moving about. I closed my eyes to reopen them, and nothing changed.
I started rubbing my eyes, and my head began to spin. I tried to go unnoticed, so I placed my hands on the table to hold my body still to look relatively normal. Before I was back to normal, I caught a glimpse of my other self. It had cold, dead eyes, and its mouth was smiling in a wicked manner.
Before I realized it, the class was over, and the instructor said, "OK, class, we will have a quiz on chapters one and two tomorrow. Study hard." I couldn't believe that I missed an hour's worth of class time.
As I made my way out, Instructor Redali called me back in.
"Mr. Williams, are you OK?" He asked me. "Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?" I replied.
He snickered and said, "Nothing. I'm probably seeing things, is all. Make sure to study."
I said, "Yes, sir." And exited the class.
My next class was defensive magic. My instructor, Mrs. Lana Rutez, started the class with introductions before she began to teach us defensive spells. "Class, today we will learn about defensive spells. How this class's grading scale works is how well you perform the spell during the finals. An example would be, I would test you all on ten primary defensive spells and how well you hold them against their correlating attacks or offenses."
Instructor Rutez got straight to the point. She seemed to be a bit more on the stick side. She instructed us to make a circle around the class. With a swing of her wand, she made all of the desks levitate above the class. "OK, now we will demonstrate two of the ten you'll need to pass this class with," She said.
She quickly swayed her wand downward while saying, "Relasis." An almost transparent barrier was constructed around her. "Now, this spell may seem easy to conjure, but you need a ton of practice to have it completely surround your body," She mentioned.
She also explained that this block can only defend you against non-physical spells, such as energy-type spells, which include fire spells or anything that cannot physically touch you.
She continued to the next spell and said, "This spell can block physical spells. Watch."
She waved her wand and said, "Bloug." A giant shield conjured before her. She waved her wand, and one of the desks was thrown at the shield. The desk shattered to pieces.
"Now, it's time to give you guys the floor. We will do this in a circuit. One after the other.
The person to my right began the circuit. It came full circle, and it was my turn. I had my wand at the ready. I took one swing and cast the spell. The instructor gave me a look of concern. The class was in awe for an even stranger reason. The spell became hard to control, so I let go.
I caught my breath and asked, "Why are you all looking at me like that?"
