Chereads / Kalon, And The World Of Chaos / Chapter 14 - Some Day.

Chapter 14 - Some Day.

The next day, there was no break. I still had classes to attend. But now, I have to walk through the school with a target on my back. And I still have to face my family.

Abruptly, a letter flung into my hand. I opened it, and it read, "Mr. Williams, come to my office at once." This was a letter from Professor Vendetta. I quickly made my way to his office. On the way there, I saw my sister walking to her class. We locked eyes for only one moment before she swiftly turned away.

This hurt more than anything. My own sister was afraid of me.

Once I made it to his office, I knocked on the door, and it opened by itself. "Come in, Mr. Williams," Mr. Vendetta said. I walked inside, and there sat Professor Vendetta.

"So. Has anything new occurred yet?" He asked as I took a seat. "No, Sir. I haven't had any nightmares or anything strange happen to me," I said nervously. He dug into his desk and handed me a glove. He said that this glove was transparent once equipped. He mentioned that this should hide the pentagram on my palm so no one would notice it.

I slipped it onto my hand, and the pentagram was not showing. "I already spoke to your family and the magic corps. Sadly, the magic corps were the only ones who were understanding," He said.

He noticed the expression on my face as I looked down. "Chin up, young wizard. There could've been a much worse outcome," He expressed.

"Like the magic corps imprisoning me," I asked momentarily. He nodded before saying, " Head to class and act as if none of this has transpired. Your family will understand one day."

I grabbed my bag and walked to class.

When I got there, everyone gazed at me until I reached my desk. "Mr. Williams, where have you been?" My instructor asked. I was silent for a brief moment before saying I was in Professor Vendetta's office.

Mr. Redali excused my absence and told me to turn to chapter one.

"Class, I have moved the quiz to next week. Make sure to read chapters one and two carefully," He said suddenly. He walked over to me and said, "I don't want any outbreaks, Mr. Williams." He walked back to his desk and started writing.

I noticed that everyone was writing, so I asked Mr. Redali what I was supposed to write. "Oh yeah, take out a piece of paper and highlight the critical points of both chapters one and two," He said before returning to writing.

It was this same feeling that I couldn't shake. Everywhere I went, the gazing followed. Of course, people already know what I've done, but they have to know it wasn't my fault.

During my second class, we ran circuits once more, and when it was my turn, everyone had their guard up. I waved my wand, and I used a block spell. The spell worked fine, but everyone was still frightened.

I put my wand down, and it was on to the next spell.

An hour later, I sat in the lunch hall, and no surprise, no one wanted to sit with me. My roommates were even avoiding me. I looked across the room, and Leo and I locked eyes. He gave me a head nod before smiling.

I nodded back and mouthed, "It wasn't me." He then mouthed back, "I know."

I received another letter from Professor Vendetta telling me to come to his office as soon as possible.

On my arrival, I could hear chatter coming from inside of the office. I knocked on the door, and it opened immediately.

Mr. Vendetta told me to enter. Inside were both him and the president of the magic corps, Iduna Feer. "Is this that troublemaker you spoke of, Lycidas?" President Feer asked. "He's not a troublemaker president, Iduna," Mr. Vendetta replied.

Mr. Vendetta told me to remove my glove. I slid the glove off my hand to reveal the pentagram. This caught President Feer's eye. "Don't you realize that a simple spell can remove this seal?" Feer asked.

"This was the most convenient way we could handle this flare," Mr. Vendetta replied before mentioning that I basically mentally defeated the caster of this spell.

"Defeat or not, this is a serious matter," President Iduna said. He and Mr. Vendetta argued momentarily. The pentagram started gleaming a dim red. There was a slight burning sensation right on that spot as well.

My grunting became noticeable, which disrupted their bickering. As I leaned over a chair, Mr. Vendetta caught me before I could fall over. "Stop arguing," I blundered to say. "It targets negative energy," I added.

The sensation briefly ended. I put my glove back on and said, "If anything else happens, I will make sure that I cannot continue to harm anyone." I could feel the tension in the room continue to rise ever so suddenly.

"Mr. Feer, I don't care how you, or anyone at the magic corps, feels about current circumstances. I will finish this year whether you or anyone else, likes it or not."

I left the office and went to my next class. "Today, class, we're going to start with the three different types of jinxes." The hair on my neck stood as the words slipped her lips. The instructor, Mrs. Horte, said that Jinxes are the most dangerous types of spells to be cast.

"The first jinx is called the spider jinx. This one gained its name because it attacks every nerve in your body until you die."

"The second jinx is called the moon jinx. This one takes effect every time the moon reaches its apex. Nothing more to explain on that one."

"Lastly, the hex jinx puts an evil spell on someone or something in order to bring them bad luck and trouble." This specific spell takes years to perfect."

After her explanation, she instructed us to read chapters five and six covering jinxes.

I noticed something strange. Once I finished, there was a chapter that I couldn't access. This was odd. I physically couldn't open the page. There was a restriction spell in this chapter. I've run into this tribulation once before.

I asked the instructor about it, and she said that we weren't authorized to read certain pages. She was unease about speaking about it strangely.

When she turned her attention elsewhere, I used a spell called Erla that could release other spells. The pages shook before a lock was presented. I stuck my wand inside and whispered, "Release."

The lock broke and vanished. I looked through the chapter but couldn't understand it since it was written in Latin. Then, an idea came about. Professor Vendetta knew someone who could speak Latin. That stranger performed the ritual on me was my way of understanding.

I flipped back to the designated chapters and gave off a smirk before saying, "Bingo."
