"Feeling any better?" The question caused Luna to lift her head from its bowed position and look towards the voice.
She gave a small nod before turning her attention back to the steaming coffee cup cradled in her hands. She allowed herself to be consumed by the dark liquid, the scent filling her senses.
"Alright, let's start from the beginning."
Taking a deep breath, Luna began to recount everything from the initial mission call to the preparation, her encounter with Isabella and Damian, the blood bond Damian mentioned, their separate meetings in the woods, and finally, her own visit to the same location.
Luna let out a loud frustrated sigh as she finished recounting all that had happened. "I don't understand why I'm having these feelings and emotions towards someone that's supposed to be my target," she breathed out.
Rachel's voice, soft and gentle, cut through the tension in the room. "Do you know what a blood bond is?"
Luna looked up at her best friend, surprise etched on her face. Rachel had always been fascinated by the supernatural world since she found out about Luna's true nature, but Luna had never expected her to know about something as specific as a blood bond.
"I'm not too sure," Luna admitted. "Damian had mentioned it but not in details. What do you know about a blood bond?"
Rachel took a deep breath before launching into an explanation. "A blood bond is a powerful connection between two supernaturals, usually a vampire and their mate or a werewolf and their mate. It creates a bond that goes beyond just physical attraction or love. Most times, it is acknowledged when the blood bounded drinks their mate's blood and then the mate reciprocates. It's like they become a part of each other, and their emotions and thoughts are shared. There's usually a mark or something to show that two people are bound."
Luna listened intently, her mind racing with possibilities. 'Could it be possible that she, a werewolf and Damian, a vampire were bound by a blood bond? It would certainly explain the intense feelings she had been experiencing towards him.
"But why would I feel this way towards someone who's supposed to be my enemy?" Luna asked, confusion written all over her face.
Rachel shrugged. "The blood bond is a powerful thing. It can make you feel things that you never thought possible, even towards someone you're supposed to hate. It's like the bond overrides any preconceived notions or prejudices you might have."
Luna pondered this for a moment before speaking up again.
"But I'm a werewolf, he's a vampire. Is something like that possible? Or has it happened before? How do I even know for certain if I'm bound to Damian? And what does this mean for my mission?"
Rachel smiled wryly. "There's a first time for everything, Luna. About finding out if he's the one, the easiest way to find out is to confront him. And as for the mission, I'm not sure. I guess it depends on what your priorities are. Are you willing to put your feelings aside for the sake of completing the mission? Or do you want to explore this connection further?"
Luna leaned back in her chair, her mind whirring with possibilities. She had always been focused on completing the mission, but now that she knew about the blood bond, everything seemed so much more complicated.
"What do you think I should do?" she asked Rachel.
Rachel hesitated before responding. "I think you should follow your heart. You're a werewolf, Luna, and your instincts are strong. If your instincts are telling you that Damian is your mate and that you should pursue this connection, then maybe you should listen to them."
Luna nodded thoughtfully, her mind made up. She would talk to Damian and see if they were bound by a blood bond. And if they were, she would follow her heart, even if it meant putting the mission at risk.
As she stood up to leave, Rachel placed a hand on her arm. "Just be careful, Luna. The supernatural world can be a dangerous place, especially when emotions are involved."
Luna smiled wryly. "I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for your help, Rachel."
"Are you sure you can go home alone? I can drive you and maybe even sleep over, or you should probably stay behind here." Rachel asked and suggested at the same time.
Luna smiled, touched by her friend's concern. "Thanks, Rachel, but I have some urgent matters to attend to. Plus, it might be too much of a bother for you. I appreciate your offer though."
"Nonsense," Rachel dismissed Luna's concerns with a wave of her hand. "I don't mind at all. In fact, I can even stay over if you don't feel comfortable going back alone."
A warm smile spread across Luna's face as she weighed her options. She knew it was better to be safe than sorry, but she also didn't want to inconvenience Rachel. However, the thought of having Rachel over at the pack house was too good to pass up.
"Alright then, I guess I could use the company," Luna finally agreed.
Rachel let out a whoop of excitement, wrapping Luna in a tight embrace. Luna couldn't help but laugh as Rachel did a little victory dance.
"Yippee! This is going to be so much fun," Rachel exclaimed, beaming with excitement.
The duo made their way to the Crescent Moon pack house, the night silent as they drove. As they entered the lively building, Luna felt a sense of relief wash over her.
The warm greetings of familiar faces greeted them as they strolled through the halls, making their way to Luna's room.
As they settled in for the night, Luna couldn't help but feel grateful for Rachel's company. It was times like these when she truly appreciated the importance of having good friends by her side.
"What's this?" Rachel asked as she was about to turn off the bedside lamp.
"What's what?" Luna asked as Rachel passed her a piece of paper, a note.
It was written in elegant handwriting, the words flowing gracefully across the page.
"Meet me tonight. I have information that you may find useful. - D"
Luna's heart skipped a beat as she read the note. She knew all at once who had written the note. 'But how did he get it in here?'
Seeing Luna's furrowed eyebrows, Rachel could tell something was off.
"What does it say?" she asked, her curiosity getting the best of her.
Luna gave Rachel the note for her to read herself.
"It's Damian."
