Nov. 5th, 2018 (Monday)
I was doing my usual morning meditation when the doorbell rung. I knew my mom or dad would get it so I tried to stay focused on meditating. Even though I have yet to feel my wolf or shift yet, I still mediate hoping one day I might feel her or hear her. I groaned when my cell phone made a noise. I open my eyes and grabbed the phone to see I had a text from Haley.
Hey, can you come to Soul Coffee? My mate wants to meet you. – Haley
I shook my head. Haley was lucky to have found her mate before we left the party and since then she has been living with him at his pack house. Every pack has a house that all newly mated wolves have to stay in for at least a year and a half before getting their own place.
I hated meeting new people outside our family and Haley knows that so I knew this was really important to her. I am the only person in our pack who is of age and hasn't shifted or felt their wolf. People always stare and it's worse with meeting new people because they always ask a bunch of questions I can't answer plus look at me with a pitiful look. I mean I hate myself enough that their added looks etc. doesn't help. I don't like being different but it's my curse to carry but it would be nice if I knew of just one person who was like me then I wouldn't feel so alone or like I don't fit in/ have to fake being happy.
Everyone says having a mate will make you feel whole and I want that but no one is going to want a defective mate.
I arrived at the coffee shop 30 minutes later (its at the edge of all pack territories and considered metal grounds with no fighting allowed).
Noah's POV
As soon as the bell went off above the door at Soul Coffee, I got hit with the strong lavender smell that I smelled at the party. I looked towards the door to see the girl from the party as she stood near the door looking around for probably who she is supposed to meet.
"Tell me that isn't your mate." Aaron (my cousin that is mated to someone from the Colson pack/ he is 25 and been with his mate for almost 6 years) said looking at the girl then me.
"Yeah that's her." Shay said before smiling at me.
" No, you don't want her." Aaron said.
No, he is wrong we do want her. She's our mate don't let her get away this time.
"Why do you say that?" I asked not listening to my wolf.
" One she is a Colson and two everyone in that pack calls her Defective Colson because she hasn't shifted or felt her wolf. That girl… no, just trust me you don't want her as your mate." Aaron said.
I looked back to see the girl was now sitting with Ryder ( from the Harcourt pack) and his mate. I could see the girl looked like Ryder's mate so they had to be related.
Who cares what other people think? We are her mate. She is perfect for us. Don't listen to him. Reject our mate and you doom us both.
"Does that mean she doesn't know like we do when we found our mate?" I asked.
"Probably not so consider yourself lucky all you have to do is ignore her." Aaron said smiling at me.
Shay gave me a look and I knew he was on the same page as my wolf, I didn't need to reject our mate.
10 minutes later she left while Ryder and his mate stayed. I could tell it wasn't a happy conversation they had. Shay shook his head when I let the girl walk away without trying to chase her down to talk to her.
