Chapter 24 - Spear

I will hide under the name "Nikola Tesla."

"Isn't he that one scientist from your old world?" Az snorted, startling me because she came out of nowhere.

Yes, Azzy, he is. I admired him when I was alive in my old world. Quite the mustache too.

"Oh, that makes sense. But you should hurry soon; the resignations are closing in around an hour." Az exclaims.

I hurriedly dressed up and grabbed Vijaya like a princess. It's like Sleeping Beauty.

There were no guards in front of me, and no people were wary of me as I worked inside the kingdom.

Their gazes and the looks on their faces confuse them about why a scientist is carrying a sleeping child.

Either they think I'm a perverted, pedophilic lolicon. Or a mad scientist using someone for their work.

Vijaya wakes up to me running around like a Loony-Tunes character being chased. I wonder where she is and why we are here.

But she never asked who I was. Is our bond that strong that she can tell who I am?

"Vijaya, could you turn into your bow form for me, sweetie?" I requested it from Vijaya, to which she obliged.

I grab the bow and continue to run around to find the place where they register people for the tournament.

It took me a few minutes to find the tournament registration area. Running to a large colosseum, with roaring yells from the inside.

"This must be the place," I say to myself, walking towards the counter to include myself in the brackets.

I walk towards a familiar face on the counter; it's Sara!

"Sara! Put me in the tournament brackets, please! But under the name of Nikola Tesla!" I enthusiastically ask, holding out an open hand to shake hers.

"Oh, Poly--, I mean Nikola! It's a pleasure to see you again! Sign this paperwork here, and you'll be in once you fill it out and hand it to me." She gleefully smiles and proceeds to shake my hand, handing me a document and a pen.

I wonder why she's the receptionist for this tournament; it's like she works as a receptionist everywhere in this kingdom.

She's like that one origami rock from a TV in my old world.

Alas, I filled out the paperwork without reading the terms and conditions, as anyone else does.

Kidding, I do, making sure I do not get myself into legal trouble on top of my wanted bounty.

I hand the filled-out paperwork to Sara, who gives me a map of where to go next and wishes me the best of luck in the tournament to find the next champion.

I walk inside the large building and follow the directions.

Walking to my destination, I begin to ponder and wonder—would they even accept me as their champion?

How egotistical of me—who said I'd even win it? There are probably stronger and more skilled opponents than me in this tournament for a champion.

I soon arrive at my destination, and I notice many bulky and or chiseled men as well as women. Some differ in race as well as the weapons that correspond to their class.

The room smells moist and musty, like a gym that has never been cleaned. I bet even the fanciest perfume or odor spray can't cure this.

I feel like puking!

People glance my way for a second and continue to either train, research, test or talk to others while waiting for the tourney to start.

I walk out to get fresh air, noticing the difference between moist, musty air and fresh air immediately. How grateful I am.

"I have an idea, you archer," Az says behind me. Wait from behind? Pause.

I look behind me and find Az in the spiritual form of her physical body. Taking a pose like an average Chuuni would do.

I hold back my cringing face and ask slyly, "What do you have in mind, Miss Chuuni?"

"Well, you should use hand-to-hand combat until it gets tough for you. Then you can transition to archery. You can transition back and forth." Az gets up close to me, and I notice we are now the same height. I never noticed this, but I remember being just a tad bit shorter than her.

"Good point; it also dispels the idea that I'm an archer. Alright then, what should I use?" I curiously asked.

"You should use that weapon that pairs well with Vijaya. The one we discussed." Az suggests.

"Huh, that weapon, aye? Alright, I will. Thanks, Chuuni!" Az scoffs but warms up to the nickname and disperses into magic, disappearing like my father.

I think of that weapon and stick my hand inside Gaia's Treasury Gate.

Pulling out a lightweight spear taller than me, made up of unknown material. It feels very rigid and is good for gripping.

I can feel the magic inside of this thing or being.

It suddenly morphs, glowing in the process. It surprises me, but I've grown used to weird quirks of this world.

The spear suddenly transforms into a—
