"Hello, Miss, are you Nikola Tesla?" asked a man with black, short, curly, and messy hair. Along with fading red-striped highlights around the hair. He is the same height as me, with bright red, baggy eyes. He wears a military outfit, long boots, and goggles on his forehead.
Is he here to arrest me? Uh oh.
"I-uh, yes. I am Nikola Tesla. Why?" I stammered at him, preparing myself for conflict with my hand on my weapon.
"I am Odo Nobunga. Nice to meet you, my opponent for round seven." He smiles at me gleefully, offering a handshake to greet me professionally.
"Oh, hello there, Odo! I am, as you said, Nikola Tesla. A guy." I accept his handshake gesture, bowing a bit to greet him.
A shock ran down his body when he realized that I was, in fact, a guy.
"Proof?" asked the skeptical yet curious Odo. Making a gesture of critical thinking and curiosity. Scanning me from head to toe to ensure his eyes aren't messing with him.
"Wait, proof? What proof do you need?" I flinch back, wondering how I can prove that I am a guy.
"Simple, pull down your pants, and let us see if you have some inches down there." Is this guy dumb? Why is he so straightforward and emotionless with that question? Is he a Kuudere?
"I-uh, I'm not doing that. You have to trust my word for it." I say this as I push him away from trying to get into my pants.
"Fine, but I do have another question, sir, madam. Are you perhaps an engineer of some sort?" He asked with eyes that told me...
He spent most of his life in a shed making something rather than spending time outside. Weirdly enough, it's more productive than being inside and watching anime. Ahem, Lisa.
I wonder if my guess is right, though.
"I-uh, perhaps I am. What about you?" I ask, redirecting the question back to him.
"Ah yes, indeed I am. Not many people here are inventors or engineers like us! Which is why I spent most of my life in a shed developing something distinctly different!" Odo excitedly says, "I'm happy to be with another engineer." Though I am not.
But it turns out my guess is correct. They do say eyes are the window to the soul after all.
"Let us rest somewhere and chat while we wait for our turn in round seven. I'd like to get to know you. Maybe we can even become friends amidst this all." Would I be his first friend? Even if he isn't mine, he is sure to be my first male friend. So trophies for that.
"Sure, let us visit anywhere but inside this musty area, we find ourselves in," I exclaim to him, to which he nods in agreement.
We walk out of the room and into a nearby, empty training room.
"Let us rest here, yes?" I ask Odo before I set myself down on the floor to rest my legs.
"This is a perfect area for us to rest upon! It has a training dummy there and some windows to the arena outside. There, we can watch the rounds pass inside here!" Said Odo, roaming around the room and scanning the area. He is rather loud now that I think about it. Not that it's a terrible thing.
He's enthusiastic and amiable, intelligent, and cheerfully eccentric. Nonetheless, he lacks a great deal of social skills and cues.
"Besides you being an engineer, what's your class anyway? I'd guess you'd be a swordsman, perhaps?" I asked curiously.
He smiles, seemingly proud of what his class is: "I am an archer... a magus."
His smile fades as he says "Magus." Why?
"Yes, I am an archer, indeed. But if you want to know my weapon, that is a surprise for later!" He enthusiastically says.
I never noticed this, but he looks cruel, Gothic, and emo. But his personality is the total opposite. What the heck?
"What about you, my friend?" He asked out of curiosity.
Should I lie? Or state the truth? I will just improvise.
"I'm just an overall fighter. I fight as I see fit for me." I state this, seemingly to satisfy Odo.
Odo seems to have a larger grin than before, crazed eyes, and a thinking pose. What is he thinking?
"Perfect! I can test some stuff on you when we battle! Is that alright with you?" He spoke loudly.
"I-uh, sure. Do whatever you'd like, I guess." I say, wondering what he is planning next.
"Thank you for this opportunity, friend. Let us have an exciting duel in round seven. And shock the crowd as they turn nuts upon us!" Odo says it charismatically, holding out a hand to offer a handshake.
"Agreed," I say, shaking hands with him as the first rounds of this tournament start.
