Sophie had always believed that love was fair, that it would find a way to work out for everyone in the end. She had grown up watching romantic comedies and reading sappy love stories, always rooting for the underdog to come out on top. But as she stared out the window of the crowded bus, tears streaming down her face, she couldn't help but feel like love was anything but fair.
She had just left her boyfriend of two years, David, after finding out that he had been cheating on her with her best friend, Jessica. Sophie had thought that she had finally found her happily ever after, but instead, she had been left heartbroken and alone.
As the bus pulled up to her stop, Sophie wiped her tears and stepped off, taking a deep breath of the chilly autumn air. She pulled her coat tighter around her as she made her way down the quiet street towards her apartment.
