Sophie woke up the next morning with a heavy heart and a pounding headache. She knew that she couldn't stay in bed all day, even though all she wanted to do was curl up and hide from the world. She forced herself to get up and take a shower, hoping that the hot water would wash away some of the pain.
As she got dressed, Sophie couldn't help but think about what her life had become. Just yesterday, she had been in a happy relationship with David, planning a future together. Today, she was alone and heartbroken, with no idea what her future held.
Sophie made her way to the kitchen and made herself a cup of coffee. She sat down at the table and stared blankly out the window, lost in thought.
Suddenly, her phone rang, jolting her out of her reverie. She hesitated before answering, not sure if she was ready to talk to anyone yet. But something in her told her to answer, and she reached for her phone.
"Hello?" she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Sophie, it's me, your sister," came the voice on the other end.
Sophie's heart lifted at the sound of her sister's voice. She had always been there for Sophie, through thick and thin.
"Hey, Lily," Sophie said, trying to keep her voice steady.
"I heard what happened, Soph. I'm so sorry," Lily said, her voice full of concern.
Sophie felt a lump form in her throat as tears threatened to spill over. She was grateful for her sister's support, but the pain was still so raw.
"Thanks, Lily," Sophie said, her voice breaking. "I don't know what to do."
"I'm coming over," Lily said firmly. "Just stay put, okay? I'll be there in a few minutes."
Sophie hung up the phone and leaned back in her chair, her head in her hands. She didn't know how she was going to get through this, but she knew that having her sister there would help.
A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door. Sophie got up to answer it, her heart racing with anticipation. She opened the door to find her sister standing there, a sympathetic look on her face.
Lily swept Sophie into a tight hug, holding her close. "It's going to be okay, Soph," she said softly. "I promise."
Sophie felt a glimmer of hope at her sister's words. She knew that it wouldn't be easy, but with Lily by her side, she felt like maybe, just maybe, she could get through this.
As the day wore on, Sophie and Lily spent the afternoon together, talking and crying and laughing. They ordered in food, watched movies, and just spent time together, the way they always had.
Sophie knew that she had a long road ahead of her, but with her sister's support, she felt like she could face whatever came her way. She didn't know what the future held, but for the first time since David's betrayal, she felt like she might be able to find her way back to happiness.
