Sophie woke up early the next morning feeling a sense of anticipation in her chest. She knew that today was going to be a big day - she was finally going on a date with Ben.
Ever since they met, Sophie and Ben had been getting to know each other better. They had gone out to dinner a few times and even shared a few kisses, but this would be their first official date.
Sophie spent the morning getting ready, trying on different outfits and doing her hair and makeup. She settled on a cute floral dress and some simple sandals, wanting to look nice but not overdo it.
As she made her way to the coffee shop where they were meeting, Sophie couldn't help but feel nervous. She hadn't been on a first date in years, and she wasn't sure what to expect.
But as soon as she saw Ben waiting for her outside the coffee shop, all her nerves disappeared. He looked handsome in a simple white t-shirt and jeans, and his smile made her feel instantly at ease.
They greeted each other with a hug, and then Ben held out his arm for Sophie to take as they walked inside. They ordered their drinks and then found a cozy corner to sit in.
As they chatted and sipped their drinks, Sophie felt like she was really getting to know Ben. He told her about his job as a graphic designer and his love of hiking, and she shared stories about her own life and interests.
As they finished their drinks, Ben asked Sophie if she wanted to go for a walk in the park nearby. She agreed, feeling excited at the prospect of spending more time with him.
They walked hand in hand through the park, enjoying the warm sun and the sound of birds chirping. They talked about everything and nothing, laughing and joking as they went.
As they reached a small pond, Ben suggested they sit down on a nearby bench. They sat in silence for a few moments, watching the ducks paddle lazily in the water.
And then, without warning, Ben leaned over and kissed her. It was a gentle, sweet kiss, but it made Sophie's heart race.
When they pulled away, Ben looked at her with a smile. "I've been wanting to do that all day," he said.
Sophie smiled back, feeling like she was on top of the world. Maybe love was unfair, but in that moment, it didn't matter. All that mattered was the happiness she felt with Ben, and the hope that maybe, just maybe, this time, things would work out.
