Chapter 4 - The Interdimensional Hitman: Taking Control of Chaos

After a moment of stunned silence, I shook my head. "Wait, hold on a second. You want me to kill people so that they can fulfill some sort of destiny? That doesn't sound right."

Jim chuckled. "I know it sounds crazy, but think about it. These people are not supposed to be in this world. They are disrupting the multiverse's balance and need to be eliminated. And by doing so, you'll save countless lives, prevent catastrophic events, and send them to new lives. Trust me, it's for the greater good."

I still felt uneasy about the whole thing, but I couldn't deny the logic behind Jim's words. I had always believed in doing what was right, even if it meant making difficult choices. And if there was a chance that I could prevent harm from coming to innocent people, then maybe this was something I needed to do.

"Okay," I said slowly. "I'll do it. But can you tell me more about what I'll be facing? I want to be prepared."

Jim nodded, his expression turning serious. "Of course. As I mentioned before, transmigrators and reincarnates are incredibly difficult to kill. They possess unique abilities and skills that make them formidable opponents. Plus, they have the advantage of being able to cause chaos just by existing. That's where the device comes in. It will help you locate them and then kill them."

He paused, giving me a moment to absorb the information. "Once you're there, you must be quick and precise. They won't go down without a fight; if they manage to escape, it'll be much harder to find them again. You'll have to use your powers to their fullest potential, and don't hesitate to use deadly force if necessary."

I was flabbergasted. "You want me to be a fucking hitman?" I asked, disbelief in my voice.

Jim nodded, a sly grin spreading across his face. "Yes! But with a bigger payout than you've ever seen." He leaned forward, and I could see the dollar signs light up in his eyes. "Oh? What the fuck am I going to spend it on?! I will be an interdimensional hitman!" I snapped, and Jim frowned.

"We will set you up with a Mana account, and you can use it to buy whatever you want. You just have to promise not to blow all the money on hookers and blow," he said plainly, and I narrowed my eyes at him before crossing my arms over my chest.

"Yeah? And how do I know that I can trust you?" I asked skeptically. This whole thing seemed too good to be true, but then again, so did most of the things in my life. If this was real, then it could be a chance for me to start over! But what if it wasn't real? What if this was some sort of trap?

Jim sighed as he leaned back in his chair again with a tired expression on his face. "You don't have any other choice, Halberd. Look, I know that your life hasn't been easy, but this is an opportunity for you to change that."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a stack of papers before placing them down on the table between us. "These are the people who need killing and their pictures. All of them are good-looking and young."

Wide-eyed, I looked back up at Jim with an incredulous expression on my face. He shrugged in response. "Well, you know how it is in manga and light novels. The transmigrator and reincarnated are always young and hot. Plus, it makes your job a little bit more fun."

I grabbed the papers and scanned them, my mind already whirring as I went over all of my options. If I accepted this job, it could be a chance to start fresh. But was this opportunity too good to be true? Yes, the answer was always yes!

I sighed deeply, feeling defeated as I sank into my chair. I had just been offered a way to take control of the chaos that constantly seemed to find its way into my life. It was something that I thought I would never have, and yet here, it was being offered right in front of me.

Jim smiled widely at me before leaning back in his chair, his arms crossed over his chest. "So Halberd, what do you think? Will you accept our offer?" he asked confidently.

The idea of taking control of the chaos in my life sounded so appealing, but at the same time, I wasn't sure if I could trust this man or the job he was offering. After all, I had no idea what kind of tasks I'd be assigned or what kind of danger I might face.

"What exactly is involved in this job?" I asked cautiously, still unsure if I should take the chance.

"Well," Jim began, "you will be using a Chaos Trigger in order to perform various tasks across different dimensions. We'll also provide you with a black card that allows you to receive payment for your services." He paused for a moment before adding, "And, of course, we will also provide you with whatever weapons you need for the job."

My eyes widened slightly as I tried to process everything he had said. The job definitely sounded interesting, and it seemed like a chance to finally take control of my chaotic life. But still, there were some doubts lingering in the back of my mind.

"Are you sure I'm capable of doing such a thing?" I asked, not wanting to make any mistakes that might put me in danger.

Jim nodded confidently. "Absolutely. You're the perfect candidate for this job, Halberd. And don't worry, we'll always be here to help and guide you through whatever challenges you may face."

I took a deep breath before standing up from my chair with a newfound determination. Even though I was still hesitant, I knew that this opportunity could be life-changing.

"Alright, let's do this," I declared firmly.
