~ Mason's POV~ _________________________________________________________________________________________________
We watched as Rosie and Lilac disappeared in the distance.
"Back up is required. I'm near the lake, ten miles from the Academy." I mind linked everyone.
"Copy that. What is it?" Asked Orion.
The demon stalked over here drooling all over the place. "It seems to be a powerful pawn of the Gluttony demon kind!" I replied through the mind link.
"Now!" Yukio yelled as we got out of the way. The demon lunged forward taking a leaping in the air and landed with a loud thud, where we were standing. The ground roared with its weight.
The demon looked around as he spotted me. His black eyes glowed red, indicating he used magic too. "It uses magic. Be careful!" Slashes of blood appeared in front of his eyes from his eyes.
"Watch out Mason!" Yelled Yukio. They were headed straight for me. I jumped backwards and made a shield around my body. "This much is nothing. Attack, now!" I yelled at Yukio.
The slashes fell heavily on my barrier spell, but it was bearable. I looked up to see him get angry as its aura changed into a darker red colour. It summoned even more slashes, thousands of them. My eyes widened, there was no way I was going to be able to take that much damage. This is an upper rank demon. This trembling atmosphere crated around.
Keeping the spell barrier, I quickly leaped on the nearest tree branch as the slashes followed me everywhere, missing me by a few inches. I kept going higher and higher, from one branch to another one, as I heard the demon groan behind me.
Looking back, I saw Yukio make a slash on one of his eyeballs. However, it quickly recovered. This demon's regeneration powers are par a demon lords. Is it possible that this demon is related directly with the lineage of the demon of gluttony? But how did it appear here? It broke through the barrier of the Academy, all by itself. That's not possible. Something else was up. A black portal sort of thing could be seen in the distance, from which a large red eye kept rotating around as it landed its eye on Yukio.
My jaw clenched. I knew it. The demon's attacks were being controlled by a higher power. There was no way me and Yukio alone were enough to defeat it.
"Yukio, watch out!" I raised my right hand, summoning a green potion from my pocket. The demon looked at me and then the potion I was holding. I popped the cap of the potion out, letting its scent come out. The demon smelled it, getting dazed in the process. However, it shook its head and ran away sending a thousand other blood slashes Yukio's way. If even one of them hit us, it would be detrimental to our health. Demon blood slashes contained poison for any other kind.
"Here, Yukio!" I screamed trying to reach him, but I was late. A few of them already hit him in the stomach. Blood poured out of his chest and stomach as I caught him just as he collapsed, entrapping him in my barrier spell. "Shit! You are going to be alright. For now, let's get out of here!" I yelled carrying him in my arms towards the academy. I leaped from one branch to another, but it seemed that there was no end to the incoming slashes.
My leg slipped as one of the weak branches as we landed on the ground with a thud. Orion appeared in a jiffy out of nowhere. His demonic powers and instincts made it easy for him to transport himself anywhere. "Wow! You came so early!" I stated rolling my eyes. I touched my small bag that I carried around with me. It threw out a healing potion as I imagined getting that one out. I gave it to a passed-out Yukio, to help control the bleeding.
Orion took all the slashes as he absorbed them in his body. "My timing is impeccable. You must agree to it!" He grinned.
I smiled a little. Fine! His timing was pretty good.
"Now to end this!" He lunged towards the source of the blood slashes, which kept coming from a portal. "Hmm... not interesting!" echoed a voice from the portal, as it created three big slashes quickly and disappeared into thin air.
"No! Mason! Yukio!" I looked towards his direction. Orion had absorbed two of them, but the third one, was headed in our direction. Yukio couldn't take anymore of the slashes. If he did, he wouldn't survive. Standing in front of him, I switched on my barrier spell again. Taking out a healing potion similar to the one I gave Yukio, I positioned myself in a way to take the least amount of damage.
It's coming! I closed my eyes and waited for the impact.
A striking pain hit me in the stomach making me hunch over. I fell down to my knees in pain. I needed to drink it. But I couldn't, my body wouldn't respond. The pain was immensely spreading throughout my body.
Darius kneeled next to me. Just in time! He bent down to take the potion and helped me drink it as I tried to return to my normal breathing!
"How did you find us?"
"The scent of your blood!" He spoke.
I nodded breathing heavily to catch up on my breath.
Orion jumped in front of us as he helped me up.
"Do I need to carry this disgusting creature?" Darius asked pointing down at Yukio who was still passed out.
I sighed nodding my head as Orion laughed.
"Wait, if you all are here, what about Lila and Rosie?" I asked concerned.
Darius flung Yukio's body on his shoulder and sprinted forward. "Octavius has gone there, we should head there too!" Orion carried me leaping over tree branches, following Darius.
"I smell the creature, just ahead of us!"
What we saw next stunned us to the core.
A glowing purple light emanated from Lila's core as she levitated in the air. Octavius was beneath her, while Rosie had passed out on the side.
"Lila, it's dangerous. Get back! I will kill it!" Octavius begged, ready to attack the demon. But Lila didn't budge.
"Lila!" Darius screamed throwing Yukio's body and dragging Rosie to put them together. When did he get her there? I went with Orion next to them. "She passed out from shock!"
Seeing that Octavius wasn't able to convince Lila to move, he stood on guard for any sudden movements of the demon. The demon was completely concentrated on Lila, watching the power emit from her body. It seemed almost in a trance, allured by the violet light. Where did I read about a purple power? Usually demons have a purple, black or red auras. But Lila is human. My potions worked well on her.
We watched as Lila's hair and eyes glowed purple. She raised her hand pointing at the demon as the demon seemed to struggle without anyone around it. It was like, he couldn't breathe. But we saw no direct linkage between Lila and the demon. No sword. No arrows. No threads. Nothing connected them. So, how?
"It's energy manipulation!" Spoke Orion fascinated like me. "Lila, come down!" Orion spoke ready to pounce on the demon with his sword appearing out of nowhere.
Energy manipulation involved using life forces around us. I searched our surroundings as I saw tiny purple particles arising from the nature around us and floating towards her body. "But how? In centuries, the blood lineage of energy manipulation had disappeared, making its descendants think that it had completely disappeared. So, how did it appear here?".
She was truly a sight to behold in all her glory. The demon trembled underneath her control. "Look at the demon's neck!" I told Orion. Small purple coloured energy particles surrounded its neck, strangling it.
"Tell her to stop at once!" I screamed at Octavius with worry.
"Why? What's wrong?" Orion asked.
"Energy manipulation requires a lot of strength to perform as it absorbs the vitality from nature. But it takes a toll on the person's physical strength. If this goes on, Lila's heart may stop..." I gulped in fear.
Just then, a midnight black portal from earlier appeared behind the demon as he started turning into ash. "Interesting girl! I shall come back for you." Boomed a voice through it.
"That voice! It cannot be!"
"What is it Orion?"
The demon got sucked into the portal before it could vanish.
"One of the seven Cardinal Sins! They have resurrected."
No ways! If that's the case, it means that the demon lords will once again reign over this world.
I felt a surge of energy within me pulse as violet coloured energy particles sprinkled everywhere. I looked down to see my wounds completely healed. So did Yukio's as he got up to take care of Rosie. Orion too watched astonished.
"This is the power of energy manipulation!" I touched one of the particles and watched it get absorbed into my body.
I watched as Lila closed her eyes and fell. "No! She's out of strength!" I let go of Orion and rushed towards Octavius, just as he caught her.
"Lila?" He tried shaking her awake, but she was already deep asleep.
"Her heartbeat is getting fainter!" Spoke Darius, now panicking. The expressionless guy is scared?
I reached inside my pouch and brought out a potion to give her. But she wouldn't drink it. With no choice left I threw the liquid potion in my mouth and turned towards her.
"Mason, what are you doing?" Asked Octavius.
Mind-linking him, I told him to shut up.
I kissed her deeply, moving her tongue out of the way, I plunged mine and released the potion little by little as she gulped it down.
After feeding her the entire potion to restore her strength, I stepped back to see her open her eyes a little. "Her heartbeat is returning to normal!" Spoke Darius as he went back to his expressionless face.
Bright violet eyes shone in the dark at us. "Sleep!" I smiled at her, patting her head as she closed her eyes.
"Her heart is stable. What did you do?" Darius asked.
"Before that! Octavius, why didn't you stop her?" I turned to him.
"Let's talk about that after getting back to the Academy!" Spoke Orion as he opened a vortex, which we all walked through.
Yukio had already gone back to the Academy with Rosie as her mates were worried for her. She was in good hands.
Upon returning, Orion helped Lila change her clothes with the flick of his finger. While, the others stayed with me, helping me make recovery potions for her. After we were done making them, we entered her room. The butler had done a good job setting up her room. When she wakes up, I think she would love it.
"I don't think she needs any potions." Spoke Orion. "Look at her complexion. She's transforming!".
Octavius and Darius smelled the atmosphere. "Lilacs in full bloom." They synchronously spoke. "Yes!" Orion spoke.
I was really jealous sometimes of these people's noses. They could smell even the faintest smell in the air, however, me being a human, I could only rely on my magical powers. Although, this time I knew exactly what they were talking about. I could smell it faintly too. The scent of Lilacs covered the entire room.
Gazing longingly at Lila, I could tell she was my soul mate. My powers reacted with hers, alluring me towards her. I placed the potions gently on the table in case she needed them. Settling down on the sofa, I watched as Lila's hair glowed a bright violet, growing longer as every second passed by. Her chest blossomed as her height increased a little, while her face glowed brightly, turning a shade of pink. Slowly, the glow started to dissipate.
"The transformation in complete. We just need to wait for her to wake up." Spoke Orion.
"Most magicians transform when they are put into a dire situation." I spoke breaking the silence. Octavius stood near the window peeking out every now and then. Darius and Orion stared at Lila, each holding either side of her hands, while laying their head on the bed and their bodies on the ground.
"Yes." Spoke Orion.
The atmosphere in the room changed. I felt power once again surge through my body. Orion, Darius and Octavius smelled the room and looked at one another in shock. "Mates!" I gulped breathing in the heavy tension in the room as well as within me. This overbearing aura around everyone made me fear. In terms of dominance, I was the weakest one among them as I was a human.
To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I looked at each of them as I could feel my heart throb whenever I made eye contact with either of them.
"What?" Spoke Orion.
"I can hear all your hearts beat." Spoke Darius. He brought his hand up to cover his mouth. "All this blood in one room is making me want to..." He paused looking away. From the corner of my eye, I could see the red glow in his eyes.
"Mason especially yours!" He said wiping his mouth as red eyes glowed back at me! His canines grew longer as he got away from Lila to protect her.
"Shit!". Spoke Octavius. "Take mine for now!" He offered loosening his buttons. Was that fucking hot?
Whenever all soul mates assemble in a place, the mate bond activates. Vampires tend to have an uncontrollable thirst for their mates' blood, especially if they are human. I looked at Lila. She couldn't give him blood. Orion's and Octavius' blood wouldn't quench his thirst as they aren't human.
I looked back at him as he breathed heavily looking at Octavius, ready to take him on. "No, take mine!" I spoke.
"Mason, will you be, okay?" Asked Orion worriedly.
"Yes." I breathed out.
Within the blink of an eye, Darius was in front of me.
"Are you sure?" He asked in a deep voice, making heart explode. I could only nod in response.
