~ Darius' POV~ _________________________________________________________________________________________________
My body yearned for the taste of her blood since the moment I saw her in that forest. She looked so delicate and fragile shivering in that snow. She was an epitome of beauty, so why did she say things that weren't true?
Fighting the urge to not drink her blood as her body radiated the scent of Lilacs was encouraging my vampire to watch her bleed in my arms. I have never felt so thirsty in my life for someone's blood. Every ounce of the cells in my body wanted nothing more than to see her doe eyes look at me as I drank her blood.
Without thinking my canines grew in size as they pierced her milky skin. Her blood tasted so divine yet sweet like sugar. Every drop I drank left me thirsting for more of her.
"Darius..." Her silky voice rang in my ears as I watched her tremble in my arms, looking at me with those teary baby blue eyes. I bit deeper into her skin as she moaned in pleasure and pain. In the end,
My head became hazy as the room filled with the scent of her blood, Lilacs in full bloom. A portrait became cleared in front of my eyes. When I drank someone's blood, I could see their past memories. Even if that blood belonged to that of animals or beasts. I bit deeper into her skin unable to resist the temptation as she lost consciousness. I held her waist closer to my body, holding her hair back with the other hand. Her body molded in mine as I felt her warm yet tiny body against mine.
Lila had really grown up a lot. I used to have a crush on her when we were younger. Orion did too. However, back then she used to smile and laugh like a normal person. But now she seems sad and unhappy. What sort of life did our Lila lead? I wanted to know more. I closed my eyes, savoring every drop of her blood. Instances of her life flashed in my mind starting from those that were the most memorable for her. Painful memories were brought forth, in contrast to her sweet blood.
"Darius! Get off her!", yelled a familiar voice.
Someone pulled my hands off of her as I lost the connection in my mind. I opened my eyes to see Octavius holding me back from my prey. In the distance, I saw an unconscious Lila in the arms of Mason trying to cover the bleeding on her neck.
"What the hell were you thinking?" He asked, anger evident in his voice.
"I'll heal her wound." Mason spoke. Carrying Lila in his arms, he walked out the door.
"What was that? I thought you had control over your thirst."
What was I thinking? I really had no idea. An overwhelming urge to drink her blood spread through my body. I wanted more of her blood, but she passed out when I drank only a tiny amount of her blood. I shook my head trying to become more in control of myself. I retracted my canines.
I looked at Octavius who looked like he could kill me. He still wore his uniform, meaning he had just returned home. Orion entered the room with a hand on his hip and settled in front of me on the corner of the bed. "As much as your my best friend, I need to ask. Why did that happen?".
I wiped the blood on my face with the back of my hand and licked it. "I didn't know that was going to happen." Touching my lips, I remembered the taste of her blood which was now flowing inside my body. It made me feel energized like never before.
"What do you mean? You haven't tasted human blood in years. Is that why you pounced on the chance of it?", asked Octavius still close to me, searching my eyes for any predatory movements. "You have never tried to get Mason's, mine or Orion's blood either. So why hers?" I get it. He doesn't trust the vampire side of me, which takes over every now and then.
"It was her. Her scent of Lilacs drove me crazy. It was like her blood called out to me. It tasted exquisite, like nothing I ever tasted before."
"You are insane." Spoke Orion shaking his head in disapproval.
"How is she?" I asked Mason telepathically.
"She just lost a lot of blood, otherwise she's fine." He answered through the mind link
"There's one more thing. Orion, I think we should tell her about us."
"What do you mean?"
"She considers herself to be cursed because of us. The day we went missing, her entire life turned upside down. She had no one next to her. She was raised alone with a butler. Her happiest memory was that of a butler baking a cake for her every birthday." My jaw clenched as I spoke every word. "Further, she grew up listening to insults about her being a 'cursed' child because of our disappearance."
Octavius and Orion were to say shocked to the core.
"You mean to say that she was the childhood friend you guys kept talking about all this time you were here?", asked Octavius.
We nodded our heads synchronously.
"Do not ever try that again, or else I will lock you up." Warned Octavius. "The rest to tell her or not is up to you guys. I would recommend you tell her soon or else she may go looking for you two somewhere else and fall into some kind of trouble."
We understood what he meant to say.
There was another thing that kept bugging my mind. My vampiric side kept calling out to her all this time, ever since I met her. "She may be my mate!" I spoke without hesitation. It could be possible after all, as everything that happened up until now, me losing control, talking, and sharing things with her without hesitation. The overprotective instinct that did not want to see any other males near her was overpowering, however, if she were to be with us, I do not feel much resistance.
"I feel attracted to her too.", spoke Orion. But he was a demon, so he couldn't be sure. Unlike my vampire instincts, he didn't have confirmation as demons tend to find their mates only through sense of touch and smell. "She does smell like Lilacs, but I thought it was because I hadn't been around any other females on campus."
"She is my mate!" Spoke Octavius. We watched his demeanor soften as he continued talking about her. "My instincts have been bugging me to get home early today, ever since you told me by that your childhood friend was going to come and live with us. Upon entering the house, I was filled with a floral scent of Lilacs. It belonged to my mate." He was a werewolf, but he never really transformed into his other self as he could be mistaken for a magical beast and slayed by someone. "I'm sure she is my mate."
"I found my mate. Lilac, she is my mate!", spoke Mason through the mind link to everyone. We all looked at each other in astonishment. Mason was an alchemist or wizard. He had magical powers like no other person was known to have.
"How do you know?".
"My powers keep urging me that." He paused. "Because of my pheromones, I can tell." Alchemists or wizards tend to find their mates through their powers.
I groaned inwards every time I thought of another male except us approaching her. That's probably why I didn't feel anything when Mason carried her out of the room. But my vampiric instinct tells me to possess her and keep her hidden away just for us. Even if it means to lock her away.
"I know what you two are thinking." Spoke Orion. "Just because Mason and I are not vampires or werewolves, that doesn't mean we do not have the same thoughts."
We sighed in sync to his response. He was telling the truth.
My heart fluttered a little at the thought of Lila being my mate. Her blood that flowed through me now felt divine. It felt like I was complete.
"Clean this now and wipe that smirk off your face, you pervert!"
"We know, what you're thinking about too, Octavius!" He smirked in response. That jerk!
With that they both left the room and locked the door from outside. I knew that was going to happen.
Mason yelled through the mind link, "For now it is best I keep Lila in my room. Far away you blood thirsty beasts that cannot control your lustful desires. You filthy perverts!"
"Mason, we know you also think the same. But I'm only letting you go because there is some truthfulness in what you said just now." Yelled back Octavius.
I laughed thinking of how Mason would react to that threat. He must be like a scared little puppy.
I think its for the best that I stay away from Lila until I can control myself. The room was still filled with the scent of her blood. I was going to go crazy tonight if I stayed in here. Wasn't I?
"Butler Drew!".
He showed up right in front of me bowing his head. "Yes, master. What can I do for you?".
"Clean this up and clean Lila's room up too. Also, set her room up..." I closed my eyes feeling embarrassed with my next words. "Beautifully... Make it look beautiful!".
I heard sniffles as I opened my eyes to see Drew wiping his tears with his handkerchief. "I cannot believe that I lived to this day. Finally, you have met your mate." He blew his nose.
"Actually, she's, our mate." I stated. "Probably!"
"Whaaat...?" His eyes bulged out of their sockets. "That's even better."
A smile found its way again on my face. He was really going to make me blush at this rate.
"Master Darius is genuinely smiling. I can die in peace now." He waved the white handkerchief around with one hand, while the other one was placed on his chest as he sniffled.
He didn't leave me a choice. Raising my voice, I yelled, "Butler Drew!"
"Right Master. Your orders are heard. I shall proceed to do as you say. I will make it look extra beautiful; your mate shall not be disappointed. Have a good night master!" With that he disappeared.
Sighing, I opened the window and jumped down the 50th floor and landed on my feet. I needed some fresh air. If I stayed in that room with her scent all over the place, my instincts would tell me to mate with her right there and then. I looked down at my hands, I could still feel her body beneath me. Those wrists were so fragile that they could break at any given moment.
Lila... the things you do to me. It hasn't even been an entire day since I met you.
Running fast down the forest, within a few seconds, I reached a cabin next to a lake. It was about a 5-hour ride from the Academy and was pretty far from the city too. It was nothing too special. Just some sofa sets, a fireplace and four beds behind the sofas. A place where we could crash from time to time, escaping from that place. Entering the cabin, I lay down on my bed.
I looked around the place. 'Looks like its time to get another sofa and bed.' I closed my eyes trying to get some sleep after that entire day. But my heart just kept quickening in pace at the thoughts of Lila.
We should grow some Lilacs near this cabin too.
I could do or be anything for her...
