Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Sighing I pinched Melanie's arm to make sure that she was listening to me when I started speaking.

"What?" she questioned in a commanding tone.

"What are they doing?" I asked in a whisper as I eyed the truck.

"Getting rid of the bodies, as you can see." She stated in a whisper as she motioned her head towards the truck that they were loading up.

"Where'd they get the truck?" I asked a second later.

"From the Clarks." she said folding her arms over her chest.

"Do they even know how to drive it?" I asked looking at her with a clear look in my eyes.

"How do you think they got it here?" she questioned turning around and walking off as I followed behind her.

"I don't know. They could have pushed it all the way here, just sayin'." I said as I walked behind her up to her house.

"You really are stupid." she said with a sigh.

"Am not!" I yelled looking at her with an annoyed expression.

"Hahah, I'm just messing with you." she said with a small laugh.

"You better." I grumbled staring at her with my squinted.

"Anyways, you think you could help me with getting the bodies down from upstairs?" she requested, a solemn expression on her face.

"Sure, I can. C'mon, let's hurry up and get this over with." I said in an encouraging tone as I looked at her with a small smile.

We walked inside and went upstairs to her parent's room. The smell of something rotten could be smelt thirty feet away from the door..

It smelt so bad I wanted to puke... I bet my house would smell worse than this since mine had been dead for a lot of time before hers.

We decided to carry the bodies out one by one. I held Mr. Williams... Ugh, no that doesn't sound right.. Not does body.

I held him, works I guess, by the waist from under his arms as Melanie held him by the legs.

We carefully carried him downstairs and out onto the driveway. Marcus and Felix took over from there.

We went back upstairs and got her, as in Mrs. Williams, downstairs. It felt easier the second time, maybe because we had switched sides but whatever.

Carrying her over to the truck, we set her down into the open crate and then headed back.

"Let's go get yours now." Melanie said patting her hands as we walked back.

"Ok.." I mumbled as I walked close behind her, my hands behind my back.

As we stepped into my house a few minutes later, I took a sharp breath at the rotting smell coming from inside.

We first took care of my father, and my nose was probably not even working when we stepped into the lounge cause the smell was the worst in there.

We carried him out and gladly handed him over to Marcus and Felix out in the driveway. Melanie was eyeing me suspiciously as we were about to head back inside.

"Why don't you go and feed the babies, they must be hungry by now." she said as she looked at the clock in the hall.

I looked at the clock and then at her getting what she had meant.

"It's Ok, they just ate an hour ago. They'll be fine." I stated walking down the hall towards the kitchen.

"But.." Melanie started speaking when I signaled her to stop.

"I know what your thinking and I understand your concerns, but I'll be fine. If I don't face it now then I'll never be able to face it." I said looking at her with a small smile.

*sigh* "I guess your right." she said with a sigh and walked behind me into the kitchen.

We quickly carried her out of the kitchen, through the hall, and out into the driveway.

Carrying her over to the truck proved quite difficult as we were farther from the truck but we still pulled through.

As we lowered her body into the crate, a tear slipped out from my eyes onto her cheek. I wiped it off and backed away as Melanie guided me back to the Willows' house.

I sat on the mattress and cried as Melanie hugged me tightly.

I cried so much that in the end my eyes stinged from all the crying.

I hugged Melanie reassuringly, but she didn't even shed a single tear.

Yet she still looked emotionally broken. We sat there for quite some time, hugging each other as if our lives depended on it.

After some time we went ahead and freshened up and then went to prepare to feed the babies.

Melanie helped me feed the babies and then we went back out to continue helping with, whatever we were calling it.

The whole process took no less than a day and the truck was loaded and taken away.

The bodies would be buried in a few days when we were done settling down in the new arrangements.

I sat on my bed in the room next to the nursery. It took Marcus, Melanie, and me a good part of the whole day to finally finish setting all this up.

It was two days after the collection of all the bodies.

We had been helping around the entire neighborhood for the past two days and everything was almost complete.

Melanie poked her head in just then and shook the basket in front of me.

*sigh* "Coming." I mumbled tiredly with a sigh as I got up to go and wash my hands.

I walked back into my room after I had finished my lunch and sat down on the bed.

I was starting to get quite bored of just sitting around in my free time.

I went downstairs to the lounge and picked up a book that looked quite interesting. I took it back upstairs and started reading.

About an hour later, Aliana peeked in from the door.

"Hey, Avery?" she called.

"Yeah, what is it?" I asked as I looked over at her.

"Uhmm, Melanie's calling you." she said.

"What for?" I asked as I closed my book and put it down on the side table.

"Uhhh, there are a few people, more like kids, here from the other neighborhood." she said.

I gave out a deep sigh as I stood up.

"Be right there."
