Chapter 19 - Chapter 19

"Hey, Marcus!" Felix said as he rung his arm around his best friend's neck. "Why're you in here?"

"Nothing, let's go." Marcus said as he slapped his arm off him and walked off.

"Hey, don't be so mean." Felix said and ran after him.

"So, where should we start?" William asked as we stood at the entrance.

"Maybe with getting the bodies out of here? We'll think of the rest after that." I said as I took a sip of water and put the bottle down.

"Okay, Let's get started then." Melanie said and we all walked off in pairs.

We stood at the entrance again an hour later, looking at both sides of the road.

"Ugh, when are they even getting here?!" Felix yelled in frustration and glared at the road.

"Can't you wait a minute longer? You seriously have no endurance." Marcus sighed as he sat down with his back to the tree.

"We've been waiting for so long though!" He retorted back with a glare.

"He does have a point... Where are those guys?" Melanie said as she stared at both sides of the road.

"How long did it take last time?" I asked. I was asleep at the time they had begun and they were also very close to finishing the job without me.

"About one hour." William said as he sat down on the grass next to the sign.

"Then what's different at this point?" I asked with my arms crossed over my chest.

"The difference is that they're taking a lot longer than expected." Felix yelled and then was pulled down to the ground by Marcus.

"Well, there's also that the location is different. They just had to move the truck further ahead into the street, now they have to get about two or three hundred meters further from the street." I said and sat down on the grass as well. Melanie sat down next to me.

"Ugh, I guess you're right." Felix grumbled and sat up straight.

We all just sat in our places and waited for the truck to get there.

Marcus pulled Felix down next to him by the tree with a glare.

"What is it?!" Felix whisper yelled with a piercing gaze.

"What did you just say to her?" Marcus asked in a threatening tone as he glared down at him.

[Uh, oh...] Was the only thought that crossed Felix's mind as he gulped under Marcus' piercing gaze.

"You better apologize or else..." Marcus whispered in his ear with a glare.

"Yes, sir..." Felix mumbled.

We sat and waited till the truck finally arrived half an hour later. We started loading the bodies onto the truck just as they got there and were done before noon.

After sending off the truck, which moved like a turtle, we went back inside and started a little bit of cleaning.

It had only been a week since the incident so there wasn't so much dust.

We were done with that in about half an hour and went out into the grounds to rest for a bit.

Melanie had handed everyone bottles of water and sandwiches.

*sigh* "I'll be back in a bit..." I said and walked over to the bikes.

"Where are you going?" Melanie asked looking up at me from her spot.

"To go look after the immense amount of children back at the house." I grumbled as I got onto my bike.

"Oh, okay. Want me to go with you?" Melanie asked.

"Nope, I'll be fine. See you in a bit." I said and rode out back towards the neighborhood.

I rode back to the neighborhood and up to the Willow house. I got off the bike and strode inside.

Walking upstairs, I walked into the nursery and took out some bottles of milk.

I went down to heat them then came back upstairs to feed the babies.

After feeding all of them, I walked back downstairs and put the empty bottles in the sink.

I strode outside and got back onto the bike. Riding back to the building, I got off on the grass and walked inside.

No one was on the lawn. I walked in and bumped into Felix.

"Oh, hey." I said.

"Hey, uhmm... I'm sorry I acted up a little while back just now." He said with a small defeated smirk.

"Oh, it's okay. It's fine to get frustrated sometimes." I answered.

"Thank you..." he whispered and then ran off.

I walked about the halls till I came up to the staff room.

Walking inside, I went and sat in one of the seats. Max, Veronica, Henry, and Cassandra were already there.

I looked around and saw that Marcus wasn't there.

Why am I even asking that though..?

"So, Avery, what should we do about the books?" Henry suddenly asked turning around to face me.

"Uhh, I guess we should check every bookshop and collect all of them?" I suggested with a small shrug.

"Yeah, that works I guess." Henry mumbled and then stood up. "Since it's only 1:00 right now, let's head out and set to work."

Everyone got up and we headed out.

As we walked out, Marcus ran past us toward the exit. What's he so rushed for? Meh.

As I got out on the grass again, I ran over to my bike and got on.

Before I could ride out, Melanie stopped me.

"Hey, Avery." she called.

"Hmm?" I hummed to indicate I was listening.

"I'm now we're going in pairs, right? Don't rush off without your partner." she said as she got onto her bike.

"Huh?!" I looked at her with frustration-filled eyes."Can I go alone? Can there be an exception, please?"

"Nope," she said and rode onto the road.

Felix had gotten onto his bike and rode right behind her.

"Bye, I'll see you later." Melanie said and rode off with Felix behind her.

"Ugh... No fair.." I grumbled under my breath.

"Hey, Avery." Marcus called from ahead of me.

"Yes?" I said looking up at him with frustration written all over my face.

"Should we get going now? The faster we move, the earlier we'll get finished." he stated with a small smile.

I sighed and rode out into the middle of the road.

"Let's go."
