Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

I got up and went to go freshen up. Then I went to feed the babies. When I was done feeding them, I went and got ready for the meeting.

I took my notepad and walked out of my room.

Everyone was already seated and waiting for me to arrive. I stepped inside and went to sit at my place between Melanie and Marcus.

I opened up my notepad and spoke.

"Good morning everyone." I greeted as I looked across the table at everyone.

"So today, we're gonna talk about how you all and everyone else have been complaining about how there's nothing to do and all that." I said standing up and walking over to the board.

Everyone's head drooped from their collective embarrassment at the fact that I still remembered how they had all been complaining for the past while.

"And I don't blame any of you. It's perfectly normal to express ourselves." I said as a way to reassure them. "So, now pay attention to the board." I said and tapped the board to get their attention.

I wrote the first topic on the top and drew a line in the middle.

"We all know that everyone hates school, but it also has some benefits." I said with a small smirk as I started writing down every subject in a box above the line.

I wrote the necessary subjects in the first column and the unnecessary one's in the other.

Necessary: Language, Math, Art, Chemistry, etc.

Unnecessary: History, Physics, etc.

We talked about it further and the discussion took a whole hour before I moved to the next topic. When we finished our discussion on the first topic, I erased the board and wrote the next topic.

The whole meeting took about three hours. I ended the meeting and dismissed everyone. Thankfully we were able to get over every topic today. We would be deciding on how to take action in the next meeting.

As everyone left, I went to see the babies. A few of them had woken up and started crying. After tending to them I headed back to my room to rest.

I sat in the lounge reading a book when one of the little boys that I had seen around the house before walked in.

"Big brother is calling you upstairs." he said looking at me with his arms crossed over his chest.

"Oh, ok." I said and stood up.

I walked back upstairs and looked around. His brother, I think that one was Tim, didn't tell me which floor he had called me to so I just strolled around the first floor and then went upstairs to the second floor.

I poked my head in through the door of the first room on the second floor and saw that Marcus was there.

"You called?" I said and stood in the doorway as he turned around to face me.

"Yeah, these rooms were just empty when I came upstairs to look at them. If you want we can use them for the schooling zone." he said as he scratched his head.

"Let's just leave them like this for something else. I was planning on using a school building close by since we're like three to four neighborhoods merged in an alliance of some sort." I said with a smile.

"Ah, Okay." Marcus said with a small laugh.

Aver and Marcus walked back downstairs and Marcus left to go see Felix.

He knocked on his door and stood outside waiting for the door to open.

Alexa opened the door and stepped aside as Marcus walked inside. He walked upstairs to Felix's room and knocked on the door before entering.

Felix was sitting on his bed reading a comic. Marcus went ahead and sat down on the bed next to him.

"What do you want?" Felix asked not looking away from his comic.

"Kill me." Marcus mumbled into the bed.

"Huh, what was that?" Felix asked looking over at his best friend.

*sigh* "This is so embarrassing." Marcus grumbled under his breath.

"Huh, what happened?" Felix questioned as he turned back to his comic.

*sigh* "Nothing." Marcus said and turned over to face the ceiling.

"Suit yourself." Felix said and continued reading.

The two sat in silence for a while till Marcus spoke "Hey, Felix."

"What?" Felix responded.

"Do you have a crush on anyone?" Marcus asked looking at his friend with a raised brow.

"Nope!" Felix said as he flipped through the pages of his book.

"There's no point in telling you then." Marcus said and went back to his original position.

"Hey!" Felix yelled and slapped Marcus's arm as he started laughing.

I sat next to Melanie on her bed writing in my notepad.

"Hey, Avery." she called.

"Yeah?" I responded and looked up at her.

"Do you have a crush on anyone?" She asked looking lost in thought.

"What makes you ask that?" I ask turning back to my notepad.

"Just felt like it..." she answers. "So?"

I just kept my eyes on my notepad as a figure flashed across my eyes.

"Mmm, why do you want to know?" I ask as a slight warmth creeps up my cheeks.

"Just because. And don't think I didn't notice you blushing." she said in a teasing tone as she poked my leg.

"I'm not blushing!" I screamed and backed away from her as she tried to poke me again.

"Whatever you say." she said and faced the ceiling.

*sigh* "You were thinking of Jason, weren't you?" I asked with a wide smirk on my face.

"Maybe? Yes? So what?" she asked as her cheeks turned bright red.

"Oooooh." I hooted with a smirk.

She just turned away as her face reddened further.

"Why are you asking again?" I asked looking up at the ceiling with a smile.

"Because I... Iwannaaskhimout." she said in a hurry that I wasn't able to comprehend what she'd said.

"What? Could you repeat that? You said that too fast." I said looking at her with a curious look.

"I said, I wanna ask him out." she said with deep breaths with each word as she hit her head.

"That's great! I finally won't have to deal with your stupid butt. But let's try do that after we have finished with the new round of work." I advised as I opened up my notepad again.

"Ok."
