As she stood at the entrance, she could feel a pitch in her heart, her eyes bubbling up as if she was willing to burst into tears any second.
Yuichi suddenly raised his head from Himiko's chest and slowly looked to the left, to see Ava standing there.
Ava?... Ava!" he exclaimed, surprised by how much she had grown since he last saw her.
He stood up from the ground, even more amazed to see her standing upright.
"Ava when did you…?" he began, but she cut him off by launching herself into his arms, the force of her hug knocking him onto the bed.
Tears slowly fell from her eyes as she rested her head on his chest… but it didn't take long for it to escalate the moment she came into realization.
Tears fell freely from Ava's eyes as she rested her head on Yuichi's chest, overcome with emotion.
Her sobs grew louder, becoming more uncontrollable as she realized the reality of the situation - Yuichi was finally awake.
Yuichi could only pat her head, trying to offer some comfort as she cried out her pain and frustration.
They stayed like that for a while, until Ava raised her head to look at Yuichi with tears still rolling down her cheeks.
As Ava stared at Yuichi, her heart was pounding with disbelief and emotion. She reached out to touch his face and ran her hands over his body, as if trying to convince herself that he was really there.
"You were in a coma for five years," she said, her voice shaking with emotion. "Every day, I feared that your heart would stop."
Yuichi's response was a simple "yeah", but it was enough to bring Ava to tears. She sobbed uncontrollably, her body wracked with emotion.
"It's the truth!" she yelled, her voice breaking with the weight of her emotions. "You really were... why did you leave me for five years?"
Her voice was filled with anger and pain, her heart aching for the time that they had lost. Yuichi could only hold her as she cried, trying to offer comfort in the face of her grief.
It was a moment filled with raw emotion, a testament to the strength of their bond and the love that they shared.
…..
A few minutes passed and everyone watching had already left the office, the only ones remaining were Yuichi, Ava and Himiko.
Himiko was running some tests on Yuichi while Ava stood on the sideline observing the whole process.
After she had finished listening to Yuichi's heartbeat, Himiko pulled away with a sigh, before sitting down on her office chair.
"Your health is perfect… too perfect for someone who was in a coma." Himiko said with a suspicious look on her face, "And rather calm for someone who just found out he was in a coma".
Yuichi laughed nervously in response to Himiko's comment, "Well, I don't even remember what happened that made me enter into a coma in the first place… but I'm guessing it's bad considering this is the first time I've seen Ava tear up that much".
Ava immediately looked away, her face flushed red from the embarrassment she was feeling. Yuichi stood up from the bed and stretched his hands.
"I'm not too worried though, I'm sure it's all good… right Ava?" Yuichi asked with a bright smile, "Let's go home" .
At that moment, Ava knew she had to make a decision, it was whether she would tell Yuichi what happened, or she hides it from him and plays it off.
With a smile of her own, Ava responded, "Sure, let's go." She replied, walking toward Yuichi to hold his hand.
Just as she was about to grab Yuichi's hand, Himiko interrupted, "Now now, Ava, you shouldn't hide it from him, he's going to find out sooner or later".
"Hide?" Yuichi muttered, before looking at Ava, "What did she mean by that?".
"Shut up Himiko." Ava voiced out, giving Himiko a death stare. But Himiko has been Ava's friend for the past 5 years, she was hardly ever intimidated.
So, Himiko stood up from her chair and stood beside Yuichi with her arms tucked as she began, "If you are not going to tell him, then I will".
"Tell me what? Oi! What's going on here?" Yuichi felt like he was being left in the dark about something important, so his curiosity was getting the better of him.
"Tch!" Ava gritted her teeths before she snatched Yuichi's hand, "Let's go." She said, dragging Yuichi behind her.
But they hadn't gone far when Himiko made a reveal, "Yuichiro Kamina… you probably don't remember this but your hometown was ravaged my Xynoins… five years ago".
Yuichi suddenly stopped moving as the words sank into his head, he wanted to turn around and listen but Ava pulled him back.
"Let's go, don't listen to her… Okay?" Ava muttered, with her eyes still focused on the door.
"Ava." Yuichi called out, "I can tell you are hiding something from me… what is it?".
Ava's eyes widened in shock, knowing that there was nothing she could do, one way or the other, Yuichi was going to find out about it.
Since she had no other option, Ava decided to take the responsibility and tell him herself. Ava turned and faced Yuichi, but her eyes were locked to the floor.
"... It's the truth… District 7 was attacked by the Xynoins… and we were caught in it." Ava exposed, "Our house…most of us died… including Miss Akeno… you and I are….. the only survivors".
As Ava spoke, Yuichi stood at a point and listened, but the more he heard, the more distant he could hear Ava's voice.
Tears suddenly rolled down from his eyes as the memories started pouring in, every life he watched die and even the horrific scene of his mother getting devoured by a Snake Xynoin.
He dropped to his knees, a slight chuckle leaving his mouth before he uttered, "They-They are all dead… haha… I… I couldn't do a thing".
Yuichi looked up at Ava, "You were right, I'm weak and pathetic." He said, before bursting into laughter but with more tears dropping from his eyes.
All Ava could do was look at him with sadness filling her heart because she could feel the pain he was going through, the same went for Himiko, who couldn't even look at him and had to look the other way.
