Chapter 28 - I dare you to touch it!

A surge of lightning crackled through the air, instantly engulfing the flames in a bright and terrifying display. The sound of a loud and eerie shriek echoed through the area, leaving the soldiers frozen in shock and terror.

"It's still alive!" one of the soldiers yelled, warning the others as he frantically tried to escape. Unfortunately for him, he was the closest to the flames.

In an instant, the Xynoin burst out of the fire, now even larger than before. Its massive form loomed over the hapless soldier, its powerful legs crushing him with ease, leaving nothing but a lifeless and mangled corpse.

The remaining soldiers were paralyzed with fear, watching in horror as the creature turned its attention towards them, its eyes glowing with a malevolent intelligence.

The Xynoin let out a blood-curdling roar, signaling the start of what would undoubtedly be a brutal and deadly battle.

"That bloody motherfucker didn't die?!" Nao voiced out, gripping his double sword tighter as he slowly walked toward the Xynoin.

As he walked, Mira and Rose ran past him, sprinting forward with their weapons in their hands as they were also aiming for the monster.

"Rose! Keep up!" Mira shouted, her sword scraping the ground as she ran.

The Xynoin lifted a hapless soldier in its massive hands, crushing him without a second thought. Its attention was then drawn to Mira and Rose, who were closing in on it with determination in their eyes.

The beast was about to rush towards them, ready to continue its rampage when, out of nowhere, a female soldier leaped up from the ground and landed a direct punch to its face.

The force of the punch knocked the Xynoin to the side, causing it to lose its balance and leaving a wide opening for Mira to take advantage of.

Focused solely on her target, Mira increased her speed and shot towards the sky like a rocket. As she approached the monster, she gritted her teeth before slashing her sword at its arm with all her might.

The Xynoin gave out a deafening roar as its body was plunging to the ground. But just when it was about to touch down, it brought in another surprise.

Like numerous scattering threads, the monster's hand grew back and formed into a curved blade with rough edges, not wasting any time, it maneuvered its body and sent the heavy blade at Mira.

"It shouldn't be able to regenerate!" Mira groaned, her eyes widening as she swung her sword to block the attack while still suspended in mid-air.

Despite her efforts, the force of the blow was too much for her to bear. Her body was sent hurtling back, crashing to the ground with a thud.

Satisfied with its attack, the Xynoin dropped to the ground and immediately stood up to charge straight at Mira.

But Rose was there to counter, holding her huge blade, she darted toward the monster with an incredible amount of speed backing her up.

Once she had gotten close, she dropped to the ground while still maintaining her momentum. Her body slid on the floor and right in between the legs of the Xynoin.

The Xynoin attempted to make a quick turn when unexpectedly, the left side of his face blew up after a stray bullet hit it.

Right on the roof of a military building, Kira lay with a sniper close to him. He immediately reloaded the gun and focused his scope on the monster.

The Xynoin let out a furious roar, lashing out in all directions with its remaining limbs.

Rose, still on the ground, scrambled to avoid its flailing attacks as Kira continued to fire precise shots from his perch above.

"You're so loud!" Rose yelled as she stood up from the ground, determined to take down the monster.

With fierce determination, she ran towards the Xynoin, her sword gleaming in the sunlight. Placing her leg on the monster's back, she propelled herself up and over its shoulder, quickly placing her blade around its neck.

The Xynoin let out a deafening roar as it attempted to shake her off, but Rose held on tight, using all her strength to choke the monster.

However, the Xynoin wasn't willing to go down without a fight. Suddenly, multiple spikes emerged from its body, causing Rose to gasp in pain as one of the spikes stabbed her on the thigh.

Despite the pain, Rose refused to let go, but her grip weakened as she struggled to endure the agony. The Xynoin took advantage of the opportunity and made a quick spin, slamming Rose to the side as she fell from its back, hitting the ground with a thud.

The Xynoin's attention was immediately drawn to the sudden barrage of bullets coming at it from all directions. It tried to shield itself with its hands, but the hail of bullets was too intense.

The monster gave out piercing shrieks of agony as it dropped to its knees, its entire body convulsing with pain.

Despite the overwhelming force of the bullets, the Xynoin managed to cling to its remaining strength, gritting its teeth as it struggled to push forward.

But the soldiers weren't going to let up that easily. They advanced on the Xynoin from all sides, firing relentlessly until the creature finally fell to the ground, its body twitching as its thread-like armor began to rip off.

It didn't take long for one of the soldiers to spot that a human was inside the monster, "Hold your fire!" The soldier yelled.

The tense atmosphere was palpable as the soldiers hesitated, unsure of what to do next.

The woman who had been identified as Sergeant Livia glared at the soldier who had yelled to hold fire. "What's the situation here?" she demanded.

"Sergeant, there's a human inside the monster," the soldier repeated, his voice urgent.

Sergeant Livia's expression shifted from anger to disbelief. "A human? How is that even possible?"

Nao, determined to take matters into his own hands, darted past the soldiers towards the Xynoin. But just as he was about to get close, a brilliant burst of lightning illuminated the sky, and Ava emerged in front of the monster.

Her eyes blazed with fury as she faced off against the soldiers, daring them to make a move. "Back off! This is not a Xynoin!" she warned, her voice cold and menacing.
