Chapter 18 - Jason is frantic

I was not aware of the amount of time it took to find my mother or the fact that a whole day had passed since finding her.

My mother and I spoke for hours ,she was most informative about everything I wanted to know. The issue that touched me the most was how much she loved my father and how much she missed him. I told her about my childhood but not the bad stuff, I did not have the heart to hurt her feelings by saying bad things concerning my father but the grand vizier was my target for my frustration. I was surprised, she said she knows him and he was not always bad ,its the magic. The more you practice magic the darker you become...

This time with my mother had to end , I asked her, "Mother how will you get back to the castle as I have to go the other way, we only have camels..." my voice trailed off. She motioned me to stop as if someone was behind me or something, luckily no one was. "I can teleport back home dear so don't worry about me." I asked her why she never teleported out of the frozen state as I did she told me my gift was unique to me and she can do other things but not the same as mine.

I was surprised when she handed me her talisman and said it would protect me she ,then kissed me and said we would meet again.... I hoped so, she disappeared as I fingered the talisman it would become a reminder that I really did see her and this was not a figment of my imagination.

My group was still camped outside the caves, they were glad when they cought sight of me. They had just picked the last mushrooms and garlic plus other herbs growing there. They were about to get ready to go home after extensive searching for me had been fruitless it was their good fortune I came back on my own.

I know I frightened them quite a lot but fortunately they did not have to tell Jason I passed away or something similar.

We were on our way having packed the camels with our heavy produce they gathered. I was satisfied I found my mother after all. I hope she can connect with my father in some way or the other.

We were on the trail back to the oasis when we spotted the dust clouds coming in from the eastern side of the desert. The most frightening sight any person who travels in the desert could possibly see is the dust clouds approaching, a sound of crushing rocks is most applicable. I must say I was afraid of being stuck in this desert with the dust clouds approaching. Our group tried to pick up our pace and the camels were not forced as they instinctively knew what this storm was capable of. Being stuck on a galaping camel is no joke, we were hastily brought to the oasis in record time when the dust storm struck us.

Everyone inside the Oasis village as it was no longer an encampment but a bustling village now with even more buildings than when we left a few days ago. Everyone was busy placing boards on windows and securing their houses.

I was apprehensive about seeing Jason and explaining this trip as he had hastily agreed I could go along ,he might be upset we stayed for four days instead of two.

I was not prepared for his anger as he opened the door to our house I was snached inside and he first of all hugged me close then pushed me away from him still holding me firmly. "Where the hell have you been?", he screamed at me, his eyes frighteningly intense. "How can you do this to me, I was looking everywhere for you. Where did you go, girl?" , he was tearful as he said this with heartfelt intensity.

I explained my trip and I could see he was not impressed as my trivial behavior was not acceptable to him. I knew he would be angry but I had no idea he had no knowledge of me leaving with the group as I had assumed his five mothers would have told him as they were aware of our trip. I asked him about this as soon as he calmed down and was surprised when he told me what they said. Why would they lie like that. They said they had not seen me the whole day.

Jason eventually made me promise I would not be that reckless again. I told him I would definitely make sure he was aware but he said no he wants me to never undertake a outing like that without him. I promised him I would not, what else could I do especially when he warmed up to me as he kissed me.

I asked him if there was any trouble since we left and he said ,"No , there was no trouble ,what do you mean by trouble?", he had no idea about the grand vizier being in the vicinity and I was not going to tell him as I wanted to avoid the argument that would erupt if I said anything wrong about his precious five mothers.

I wished later that I had told him it would have saved so much trouble...
