Chapter 5 - I'm not stubborn

Kim quickly hid her face in embarrassment as she dropped the spoon. She couldn't believe he was eating in front of her while letting her starve. Her stomach growled at the sight of food making her look more embarrassed. It had been quite an awful long time since she ate good food.

All the food given to her at the camp was half-cooked. Or wild animal which was killed in the forest. But she didn't complain because it was better than nothing.

Kim looked away from the food and focused her eyes on the guards. She thought of her plan of escaping. Once she gets out of there, she would run far from his sight.

Meanwhile, Alexander's gaze didn't leave her for once. When he heard her stomach growl, he almost laughed but he maintained himself. When he saw that she was not making any attempt to beg for the food, he frowned.

"You can eat now"

"I don't want to eat," she said without glancing at him. She didn't want to receive another embarrassment in front of the guards. Even though she was hungry, she would manage till she finds her way out of there.

Once he was done eating, she thought of a million excuses to leave his presence.

"I want to go out and receive fresh air," she said.

"This place is cold. What other air do you want to receive?"

"None of your business. Can I go now?" she asked.

He contemplated on it for a few seconds before saying, "Kyle, take her to the garden. Once ten minutes is over, bring her here"

Kim smiled inside her. How foolish of him not to think she could beat this man and run out of this place. The servant nodded his head and gestured for her to stand up.

She quickly stood up and trailed behind the servant. When they reached the garden, the man didn't say a word. He stood still with his head raised high.

Kim looked around, this place was quiet. There was no guard here so she thought of how to deal with the man.

Without waiting any longer, she reached for the man and kicked him in the leg. She punched his left eye and it closed instantly.

"Ahh..." the man groaned in pain as he held his left eye and leg.

She used the opportunity to run away. Turning around to make sure no one was following her, she ran as fast as she could.

"Catch her—" the guard holding his eye said.

Kim wouldn't manage to get through the huge gate so she thought of another way. This part of the house was really beautiful. She wondered why there were no guards in here.

She thought of hiding nearby where no one would see her. She hid behind the tall trees and waited.

After a while, she heard footsteps approaching. "Find her if you want to stay alive in here. I can't afford to get the President angry"

"She is a witch. She blinded one of my eyes"

"Where could she possibly escape to?"

"She didn't pass the gate. Hopefully, she would be around. Find her"

She heard the sound of footsteps as they walked away. Kim waited anxiously as her legs cramped from squatting for long. She knew if she made any sound, she would be caught. Right now there was no turning back. She couldn't imagine the things he would do to her once he caught her.

When the sky was getting dark already, and the stars were visible she knew now was the best time to escape. When the sky was now very dark, she stood up. Her legs were sore now. She looked ahead and saw that the soldiers were still there.

She frowned upon knowing it would be hard to escape when they were there. When her legs touched the empty bottle close to her, she smiled. She picked up the bottle and threw it far ahead making it hit the huge fence close to the guards.

The guards stood up quickly and walked to the spot where the noise came from. They inspected the place and picked up the broken bottles.

Kim laughed lightly at their foolishness. None of them knew where the bottle came from. She took a deep breath before taking a step forward.

Unknown to her, she didn't know someone had been watching her closely. Alexander stared at her, amusement dancing in his eyes.

"As a matter of fact I think you are so stubborn," he said staring at her as she took another step.

Kim jumped in fear as she turned to see who was there. She trembled slightly upon seeing the President. What was he doing here? How did he get here? God! She was in big trouble now!

"I'm not stubborn," she said even though she was supposed to apologize for hiding. Why would she apologize? It was her right to go anywhere she wants to go.

"Don't deny it. I've been watching you squatting here"

"Fine, I'm not hiding anymore. I would walk through the gate and get out of here"

"Okay. Let's see how much power is inside you" he smiled.

She walked ahead to where the soldiers were standing. Upon seeing her, they grabbed her hand before she could say anything. The other one threw her over his shoulder and took off. They ran so fast making Kim laugh quietly. She remembered the Kun fun panda film she watched when the villagers threw him over their shoulders after he rescued them from the Dragon warrior. The way they lifted her made her think she was an important person.

Once they reached where the President was standing, they dropped her down.

"We found her"

"I already found her before you"

"For harming one of my men and trying to escape….. hmmm... Such action won't go unpunished" he said. His eyes had turned a blaze of fire. He stood as if she killed one of his family and was about to persecute her.

"You have no right to be angry with me" she protested.

"Take her to her room and lock her there. She shouldn't be allowed out till I say so" he said and turned to leave.

"Hey! You don't have to do that. Let go of me!" they carried her like a child and took her to her room. They pushed her inside the room before locking it.
