Chapter 54 - Parting ways

Wyatt Parker glared at Logan Hunter in anger, but not wanting to cause a scene, he handed over the other wolf he had in his hands and let everyone split it. Inadvertently, he looked at Amelia and felt that her expression seemed a little colder, although Amelia always looked cold and aloof.

Quinn Cooper looked at Wyatt Parker with gratitude, thanking him in a sweet and tender voice. But out of the corner of her eye, she looked smug and sarcastic towards Amelia, as if to say, "See, you had to give it to me after all."

Amelia didn't even glance at her, ignoring her coldly. The group happily started a fire and busied themselves roasting the half wolf. Compared to Logan Hunter, the meat they cooked was truly unappetizing, burned and blackened. They ate while sneering that the wolf meat was so difficult to eat.

Amelia couldn't stand these selfish and greedy people. She remained silent, thinking about her own physical condition, wondering if she could continue on. This was the real issue she needed to worry about. But she had no choice, she had to move forward.

"You... can you give me your backpack? I'll help you carry it," Logan Hunter suddenly appeared next to Amelia.

Amelia raised an eyebrow, considering whether or not to accept this favor. She was too cold and proud, and didn't want to owe anyone except Tyler. But now, she was really out of energy.

Logan Hunter misunderstood Amelia's hesitation, thinking that she thought he was weak. He quickly said, "I can carry it, I'm really strong." He then slung his own backpack over his right shoulder and held a wolf carcass in his left hand, waving it around to show Amelia that he was indeed very strong.

"Thank you," Amelia said, realizing that she owed him a favor for helping her with her backpack.

She didn't want to have too much to do with the others, but she had to get through this trial. If she had no choice, she would do whatever it takes to get through. Because no matter what she did, there was no chance of saving Tyler.

"You're welcome, you're welcome!" Logan Hunter thought to himself that a backpack was nothing compared to saving his life.

Little did Logan Hunter know that when he helped Amelia retrieve the wolf's fangs earlier, she already considered them even...

Suddenly, a cry came from the front of the group!

"What did you say? Squad leader, was it Amelia who decided our route forward?" A student hurriedly stopped and loudly questioned the leader.

"Squad leader, are you joking with us? How can we follow someone like her, a delicate girl, in these mountains?"

"Oh my god, no wonder we haven't met anyone along the way, we must have taken the wrong path! Definitely!"

The newly formed team came to a halt again, and the already restless students used this as an excuse to vent their frustrations, even more vehemently than the radical youth shouting about attacking the reactionaries.

Everyone's doubts and unfriendly looks were directed at Amelia. At that moment, Logan Hunter, a tall man carrying two backpacks and a wolf carcass, subconsciously stepped forward and stood in front of Amelia, shielding her from these gazes.

"Enough! The route we planned is right here, and objectively speaking, it's true that the path pointed out by Amelia is more suitable," Wyatt Parker said, looking at Amelia with a profound and inscrutable expression, trying to gauge her reaction.

Amelia listened coldly, and no one saw her hand the route map to Wyatt Parker except for him saying it himself. As expected, she didn't like people who were too complicated and always had a kind of self-righteousness.

"I think this path is also good," Quinn Cooper whispered. This was the route she had planned before, and it was clear that she was not happy that Wyatt Parker didn't use her route.

"Yes, we also think Charlotte Lee route is better."

"We must have gone the wrong way. I demand we change the route."

"I support changing the route too."

It was unclear how Quinn Cooper managed to win over these people, as they all followed her lead like the Queen's guards.

"Um, class leader, should we change the route? Everyone's already slow, and if we're on the wrong path, it's simply...unimaginable," Quinn Cooper timidly suggested.

This suggestion made sense, and it subtly accused Amelia of slowing them down. Walking on the wrong path might also be Amelia's fault.

For a moment, except for Wyatt Parker and Logan Hunter, everyone else agreed to change the route. It seemed that Charlotte Lee white lotus attribute had deeply won the hearts of these straight men.

"No, this path is too dangerous!" Amelia glanced at the route map in Quinn Cooper's hand and coldly rebuked.

The route chosen by these people was simply not reliable. When they were moving forward earlier, they had come across a cliff, and they had carefully detoured around it. When they looked back from a distance, they realized how terrifyingly high and thin the cliff was. If they had discovered it too late and didn't detour in time, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

Quinn Cooper's route seemed correct, but the mountains were densely packed, and white mist permeated the air, making it impossible to see the path ahead. It was a very dangerous thing.

Amelia couldn't be sure if they would encounter another cliff or not, and if they did, they might get stuck and have to use their signal gun.

"What? You mean we can't change the route?"

"Heh, who do you think you are? You can't decide that."

"Amelia, can you please not be so self-centered? We can't just follow everything you say," Quinn Cooper advised in a soft voice.

No one believed Amelia's words, except for Logan Hunter, who was carrying a wolf carcass.

"Why should we listen to her? Class president, you're the leader, you decide which way to go," the group pushed the decision-making onto Wyatt Parker.

However, everyone stood behind Quinn Cooper, their attitude evident.

"Let's just listen to everyone and take a different route, maybe it's a shortcut!" Wyatt Parker spoke up.

Amelia looked at these people stubbornly changing the route and remained silent. It was useless to reason with unreasonable people.

"I insist on the original route. You guys can change if you want to. I hope you won't regret it," Amelia said.

"Hmph! Who would regret it? Trying to scare us," someone retorted.

Amelia didn't move, and Logan Hunter just stared at her without making a move.

Wyatt Parker pursed his lips and said, "You better keep up. It's too dangerous to be left alone."

"Heh, my foot is injured, I can't walk. I don't want to hold you guys back," Amelia mocked.

Wyatt Parker glanced at Amelia and sighed, "Well, I'll go first. I'll leave some marks along the way. Take your time catching up... If you can't, just fire the signal gun for safety."

Wyatt Parker deliberately revealed that the map was Amelia's decision, as he was unhappy with the cold look she gave him earlier. He didn't expect everyone to make this decision, although it was not ideal, he still left since he had no relationship with Amelia.

Everyone continued on, but Logan Hunter remained standing behind Amelia.
