Noah Foster ignored Amelia's resistance and forcefully embraced her, allowing her weight to rest on him. He didn't mind her muddy clothes as he half-carried and half-supported her along the way. Despite her natural urge to struggle and resist due to her autism, Amelia didn't have the strength to budge Noah Foster at all. She looked towards Logan Hunter, but he seemed to ignore the situation and lowered his head abruptly.
Finally, someone came to help Amelia, but Logan Hunter couldn't possibly stop Noah Foster! He didn't see anything! Wyatt Parker, a member of their team, witnessed this scene and became even more emotionally conflicted. Quinn Cooper didn't scream this time, but instead glared at Amelia's back in silence.
After walking a short distance, Amelia finally sighed and spoke to Noah Foster, "You're going the wrong way. It's this way."
"..."
"Hmph, got it!" Noah Foster shouted in embarrassment but followed Amelia's instructions.
Amelia remained silent, and it was unclear what she was thinking. However, Noah Foster was running out of energy, and even with Amelia's help, they were moving at a sluggish pace. They were also being followed by an entire class of people!
Despite this, Noah Foster seemed to be challenging himself, refusing to leave Amelia behind, and continuing to move forward with a slight tremble. Amelia felt Noah Foster's grip on her hand tightening as if he was afraid she would fall. She listened to his labored breathing, as if he was exhausted.
"Let me go," Amelia suddenly spoke up.
Noah Foster was taken aback and was about to refuse, but then he heard Amelia continue, "If you keep carrying me like this at this pace, we'll all fail. Don't forget, you're the leader. You guys go ahead, I'll take care of myself."
Amelia rarely spoke so much, and her voice was soft and light, but her meaning surprised Noah Foster. She was telling him to go ahead without her, despite being the only one willing to help her. "But what about you?" Noah Foster exclaimed in shock.
"It's okay. My body isn't suitable for military training, and I know that," Amelia calmly replied.
Noah Foster lowered his head in regret. Hearing this, it seemed that Amelia was giving up. With her physical condition, even if she passed this trial, she wouldn't be able to handle the upcoming military training.
Noah Foster thought she understood, but she didn't know that even if Amelia was extremely unsuited for military training, she had no intention of giving up.
At this moment, Amelia quietly handed Noah Foster a map as a thank you for her previous help.
Noah Foster was still hesitant when she heard Amelia say, "Logan Hunter, give Noah Foster the wolf meat and leave only two wolf legs."
Logan Hunter naturally obeyed Amelia's orders, and Noah Foster was stunned.
Noah Foster had seen the wolf meat in Logan Hunter's hands, but even though she was hungry, she knew that the food had been obtained through hard work and couldn't be asked for casually. She didn't expect Amelia to offer it to her so generously.
Wyatt Parker's face darkened momentarily.
The rest of the group behind him felt something was amiss. Most of them weren't jealous or angry, but rather a feeling of shame was spreading. Previously, they had asked for wolf meat, but Logan Hunter didn't give it to them, and Amelia didn't either. They had always thought Amelia was selfish, but now she had given most of the food to Noah Foster and even let her go first. How could someone like that be selfish?
"I can't take this," Noah Foster said after a moment of thought, rejecting the offer.
But Logan Hunter ignored Noah Foster's refusal and quickly handed her the rest of the meat.
"If you don't want it, just throw it away!" Amelia said coldly. Despite the mud and dirt on her face, her aura was impossible to ignore, making it hard for people to look at her directly.
She was not good at dealing with people. What she said was a good thing, but when it came out of her mouth, people didn't know how to respond.
Noah Foster gritted her teeth!
She was a bit helpless. Although she looked carefree, she was a responsible person. Now that she was leading the team, she was not only responsible for herself but also for the whole team.
She could say she wasn't hungry, but her team couldn't. She could say she didn't care about winning or losing, but her team couldn't.
In the end, she slowly clenched the wolf meat and the map in her hand.
"Thank you," Noah Foster said solemnly.
Noah Foster and her group looked gratefully at Amelia. In a time of hunger and cold, someone had selflessly brought them food, which was like sending charcoal in snowy weather. How could they not be grateful?
Noah Foster was ultimately persuaded by Amelia and left with the group, leaving half the people behind. Although Amelia and Noah Foster didn't have a good relationship, she may have helped him because he had helped her before, or maybe just because she felt like it. Amelia was a willful and spontaneous person.
Wyatt Parker didn't dare to follow Noah Foster because he didn't know that Amelia had given him the map. Since Noah Foster had taken the wrong route before, he didn't want to risk leading people to follow him. He thought it was safer to follow Amelia.
Amelia didn't say anything and washed the mud off her hands and face in a small puddle. She felt uncomfortable being so dirty, and changed the bandages on her feet before continuing on. But she looked terrible and it seemed like she couldn't go on.
"Amelia, let me help you walk," a timid girl suddenly spoke up.
Everyone looked at the girl, who hesitated and looked at Amelia.
"It's not necessary!" Amelia said.
"I...I really mean it. I want to help you," the girl said, stuttering.
At this point, another student stood up and said, "Me too, I'll help you."
"So will I!"
With someone taking the lead, those who had remained silent couldn't hold back their guilt any longer and spoke up one by one.
Amelia raised her eyebrows slightly, surprised by the scene. She hadn't expected anyone to offer to help her, especially since she had made it clear she wouldn't give them the map and had already given away all the wolf meat.
She looked at the stuttering girl with sincere, timid eyes.
This was a girl who had been invisible since the beginning of the trial, afraid to say a word. Yet, in this moment when no one else spoke up, she was the first to offer to help Amelia.
Amelia had thought everyone was selfish, and had believed that no one would lend her a hand. But in the end, there was at least one person who did. Even if it was just one, it was enough to change her mind.
Amelia felt a small tug in her heart and sighed. She was a person who repaid kindness and grudges equally. She didn't like this group, but she couldn't ignore their kindness.
