Amelia was serious. After all, in the bedtime stories Tyler had told her, in desperate situations, anything that could be eaten would be used to fill one's stomach, let alone two wolves of this size.
Everyone remained still, until Logan Hunter finally looked at Amelia and, with a determined expression, dragged the corpses of the two wolves to one side. However, he didn't know what to do next and looked helplessly at Amelia.
Amelia looked at the students standing far away and was somewhat satisfied with Logan Hunter. "Hang the hind legs from a tree branch, cut the wolf skin from the paws to the belly, peel it off while cutting, separate the front legs when you get to them, peel off the skin on the front legs, and finally peel off the entire wolf skin from the back of the neck."
Amelia calmly explained the gruesome task of skinning and gutting the wolves, teaching Logan Hunter how to use the small knife in his backpack to solve the problem.
Logan Hunter was sweating profusely as he worked, and Wyatt Parker eventually came over to help. The others stayed far away, disgusted by the sight.
Amelia's gaze swept over everyone, her expression becoming even colder. When they were in danger earlier, these people had retreated, and now they were disgusted by dealing with the wolves. There was no such thing as a free lunch in this world.
"Logan Hunter, give me the knife!" Amelia walked fearlessly behind Logan Hunter.
Amelia took the knife and gestured to the wolf's head, squatting in front of it and looking foolish, not knowing how to proceed.
"What... what are you doing? Give me the knife, I'll do it!" Logan Hunter said, looking at Amelia, who was struggling.
Amelia thought for a moment and realized that she had already saved Logan Hunter before, so asking him for help was a fair trade. She pointed to one of the wolf's mouths and said, "I want the best-looking tooth!"
Logan Hunter nodded, opened the wolf's mouth, and used his bare hands to pull out the tooth that Amelia wanted. He was truly incredibly strong.
Raising his hand to hand the wolf tooth to Amelia, Logan Hunter paused as he noticed blood stains on it. He had thought Amelia would be disgusted, but she reached out her delicate and gentle hand, unafraid of the dirt, and said in a soft voice, "Thank you!"
Logan Hunter shook his head repeatedly and, together with Wyatt Parker, dragged the wolf's body to the water source to clean it. Meanwhile, Amelia washed the wolf tooth carefully and kept it, her face softened. She had heard that wolf teeth had the power to ward off evil, and she wanted to give it to Tyler as a gift. She had never given Tyler a gift before, but in this life, she wanted to make him happy with her sincere intentions.
To avoid attracting wild beasts with the scent of blood, the two of them cleaned up the wolf carcass. The rest of the group packed their bags and continued on their journey until they felt it was safe enough to stop and have breakfast. By then, the sun had risen, and the leftover dry rations from yesterday were running low. After everyone had finished sharing, they were still famished.
At that moment, Logan Hunter started a fire with some firewood, cut a few pieces of wolf meat with his small knife, and roasted them on the flames. The sound of sizzling oil filled the air, and the aroma of meat began to spread. For these students who had not eaten enough for a while, the scent of the meat made their mouths water.
Amelia, Wyatt Parker, and Logan Hunter started eating. Under Amelia's gaze, Logan Hunter ignored the others, and Wyatt Parker naturally said nothing. Amelia only took a small piece and gave up on it. The meat was not delicious, and it was not suitable to eat so greasy in the morning.
Logan Hunter and Wyatt Parker ate several pieces and felt full, satisfied with their meal. "Hey, can you roast a piece for me too?" "Logan Hunter, I want one too, don't make it too tough!" "And me!"
These people crowded around without any politeness. The girls sat a little further away, but they still demanded to eat the meat with boldness. Wyatt Parker said nothing, and Logan Hunter opened his mouth to speak, but instead looked at Amelia.
Amelia stood up, brushed off the dust on her clothes, and indifferently pushed the dirt pile onto the fire with a stick, extinguishing the flames. She looked coldly at everyone. "Are you crazy? What are you doing?" A girl couldn't help but push Amelia.
Logan Hunter quickly stepped forward to intercept her. "Quinn Cooper, why did you push her?"
"I didn't mean to push her, but she... she extinguished the fire. Isn't she doing it on purpose to make things difficult for everyone?"
Quinn Cooper's eyes turned red, and she had a look of grievances on her face, as if she had suffered a great injustice, which made people can't help but feel sorry for her. Sure enough, the several boys around her immediately whispered words of comfort and rushed forward with anger to confront Logan Hunter when they saw her like this.
"Stop!" Wyatt Parker, who hadn't spoken for a long time, impatiently spoke up.
"Class monitor, can you be fair and tell us what Amelia means by extinguishing the fire?" Quinn Cooper looked at Amelia's face with a jealous look in her eyes, which made her appear even more helpless and vulnerable, and made people feel sorry for her.
Amelia coldly took over the conversation with a sneer, "Fairness? You guys didn't help when we killed the wolf, and you stayed far away when we dealt with it. Now you want to eat with righteous indignation? How thick is your face to do that?"
Amelia's indifferent words were straightforward and left everyone at a loss for words.
"But...but you can't be so selfish and let us go hungry! You didn't do anything either, did you?" Charlotte Lee took a step back as if she had been hit hard, and said with tears in her eyes and unwillingness.
Looking at her tearful appearance, the boys around her felt even more sorry for her.
"Yes, we are a team, and we can't be so selfish."
"You, who's lagging behind, can eat, so we should eat too. Bring it to us."
Amelia sighed. How thick can someone's face be to this extent?
Even though these people didn't know anything about anesthesia, they still regarded the wolf as food and taught Logan Hunter how to deal with it. This was Amelia's suggestion, or else these people wouldn't even have anything to fight over, and she would end up being a freeloader.
Logan Hunter shook his head anxiously. How could these people say that Amelia didn't do anything? That wolf was put to sleep by Amelia. He was about to explain but was silenced by Amelia's cold glance and held back what he wanted to say.
Wyatt Parker once again stood up helplessly and said to Amelia, "Forget it, don't make a scene. We are all one team, let's stick together."
"Heh, it turns out that I'm the one causing a scene." Amelia couldn't help but sneer, "So this is what unity means. You are the leader, you decide."
Logan Hunter walked behind Amelia, holding a wolf, and looked like he wasn't going to give it up despite Amelia's silence.
"Logan Hunter, give the wolf in your hand to everyone to share!" Wyatt Parker said solemnly.
Logan Hunter kept shaking his head, "This is mine. No one contributed anything, so I won't give it!"
"Logan Hunter, do you even know what you're doing? We are a team." Wyatt Parker's voice became colder, and he was not very polite to Logan Hunter, the big fool.
Logan Hunter still refused and stood firmly behind Amelia, holding onto the wolf tightly.
